Great product
This is a GREAT product. Just buy it. FIVE STARS! A great compliment to home security. Can make you look like your home when you’re not through automated “vacation mode” light controls. And much more. Originally I gave it a one star review bc the plug kept dropping off wifi connection. Basically making the plug not an ideal choice for home security. However, there was an OTA firmware update two weeks ago. Since then, none of my plugs have dropped off wifi. Very stable now. Plugs work great now. AMAZING product. Thanks Wyze! p.s. below was my original one star review for context ******** I am a loyal Wyze customer. I have many of their products in my house from cameras, outdoor floodlights, plugs, etc. In total, about 17 wyze products in my home. Many of my Wyze products are GREAT. So it pains me to have to write a negative review on their smart plug. These smart plugs have a huge flaw - they randomly disconnect from their wifi connection. And their is no way to reestablish the wifi connection unless you are physically next to the plug and have to do a hard physical restart. The plug is incapable of reestablishing wifi connection automatically. And you can not prompt it to do so remotely via the app on your smartphone. Since most people will use this plug to control lights when they are away for security reasons (vacation, coming home late from work, etc), this random wifi drop problem makes it a terrible choice as part of a home security setup. Went on two vacations recently. Both over a week long. A few days into each vacation, my app started showing a few of my plugs as “off line”. Basically you can’t control them remotely and they are no long working. Basically your home security with lights going on and off at night is gone. I’ve spoke to customer service many times on this issue. I’ve done it all - hard resents, turning off 5ghz on router so plug can connect to 2.4ghz, erase/reinstall app, etc. Nothing works. When you google this issue, there’s a lot of people out there experiencing the same thing with this plug. Wyze has openly stated they are aware of the issue and have sent firmware updates to fix it. Firmware update have been sent, but the issue is not fixed. This is the first negative Amazon review I have ever written. I hope Wyze reads this and understands that loyal customers of Wyze are super frustrated over this issue. PLEASE FIX THIS. It’s my hope that you can fix this asap. And then I can turn this one star review into a five star! Thank you

Works well- used with Christmas lights
Connects well within the Wyze app. We love Wyze products. I love the quality and price point. Since we use other products of theirs, I like that it streamline all of our smart devices in one app. We use these plugs for our Christmas trees so we can speak to turn them on and off. Average size. They last a long time. Easy to set up and use.

Adds ease to daily life
I love these plugs. We got them as a gift several years ago, and I was kinda underwhelmed at first but now we have purchased more because they are so useful and easy-to-use. They have been super reliable and when there is an issue with connectivity or a bug, it's been pretty easy to get them working again (especially in the last 2 years or so). It's so nice to be able to set really specific schedules, including syncing to the sunset time in your location. Plus, it is really easy to change the schedule with the app. Our upstairs lamps are on these plugs and they now turn on and off automatically every evening. We also use them for our Christmas tree every year. For our christmas tree specifically, we used to use the manual plug timer thing. These plugs are *far* superior to those manual timers since I can control the schedule from my phone, set different schedules for different days, and most importantly, cannot hear the clicking of the manual timer! This is one of those life upgrades that adds so much ease to daily life that you kinda forget it wasn't always this easy. Highly recommend!

Good alternative to each timers
I decided to try these as an upgrade over old school outlet timers. One on the coffee pot and one for a lamp. It’s fairly easy to setup but not immediately intuitive for non tech types. It requires using their app and it requires internet access. The app allows linking up Wyze sensors as triggers or setting any type of schedule. I guess IFTTT has some actions that can be used as well. But no Apple Homekit integration and that’s for all Wyze to date. I believe they do work with Alexa and google home. Basically once in the app, you can setup action, schedules and shortcuts. What I like is it’s easy to over ride the schedule by simply going to the app to turn on or off rather than reaching down behind a cabinet or table to reach a timer to manually hit the on off button, although these also have the physical button. For lamps, there is a vacation mode that I believe randomizes the on off schedule. It would be useful if they added a dusk to dawn function or allow selecting dusk and or dawn individually for lamp scheduling. What I don’t like is no ability to edit the WiFi setup without resetting and starting over and reliance on internet access. So far I’ve only had one failure to turn on when scheduled, not sure why. For the cost, it’s cheaper than a plug-in timer and offers 15amp capacity for things like coffee makers. Overall, I’d buy again but would like to see easier ability to edit WiFi setup and zero reliance on internet once setup.

Firmware (v1.2.0.179) Has Major Connectivity Bug (Updated...)
UPDATE: Completely fixed! UPDATED 04/28/2022: Updating my review to four stars. I've been posting on the Wyze forum, along with others, that the plug has an issue. Their team finally acknowledged the issue and updated the firmware change log to indicate the firmware was being fixed. Wyze employees reached out to people on the forum about a beta release that should fix v1.2.0.179 firmware, specifically the connectivity issue. Was able to sign up for beta testing through the app and installed the beta release. Their team also briefly described the issue in their firmware, which makes sense. When these plugs work, they are great. I'm also impressed with the Wyze support forum and team. Therefore, I'm giving this plug four stars. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I had high hopes for these plugs, especially because the price point is lower than similar WiFi enabled plugs. I have purchased four of these over the past year and have become very frustrated with the devices over the past few months. Specifically, the plugs randomly lose their connection and enter pairing mode. I'll often find the light on the front of the device blinking and the ON/OFF icon in the app replaced with a crossed out cloud icon, indicating the device is offline. The only way to fix the issue is to re-pair the devices back to my Wyze App/account. This defeats the purpose of having the plugs; when I'm away from home I cannot fix them. Ultimately, these plugs (probably their firmware) are not meeting my "reliability" and "availability" expectations. Currently using firmware version 1.2.0.179, which the change notes say fixes a major connectivity bug in v 1.2.0.176. I have been in contact with Wyze support over the last few months (while using the 176 firmware) and have submitted logs for their tech support and engineers to review. I was really excited last week when I saw that they released 179. Unfortunately, it's made the issue worse. I have a fairly expensive Netgear router and I know how to configure it. I've tried allowing the devices to obtain an IP address dynamically, and I have also tried allocating static IP addresses. I've also tried different 2.4Ghz channels to make sure there was no conflict with nearby signals. Also confirmed that the 2.4Gz channel is at 100% power. All four of my devices are within 20 feet of the router. In the end, all four devices will randomly go offline one-by-one and require me to re-pair them to the account. All my other IoT devices on the 2.4GHz channel seem to remain online (or more likely, have firmware that is robust to connectivity issues). I appreciate that Wyze provides a tech support phone number; I have used it multiple times over the months to try and resolve this issue. I've spoken with a supervisor on the tech support team, but they too are not understanding the issue. They have suggested multiple times to submit support logs through the Wyze app when a problem occurs. There are a few issues with this suggestion: 1) I'm assuming the device event logs are retained on the plug itself. If this is the case, the only way to submit those logs is to go into the Wyze app, connect to your Wyze plug device, and submit the log. But this is a Catch 22 kind of problem! If the plug goes offline, I cannot connect to the device in the app to tell it to submit the logs to Wyze's support team. The tech support supervisor claimed the logs are stored on your phone, which I think is very incorrect. My Wyze app is closed on my phone so I don't think it's downloading logs all the time. Also, if the device goes offline, it cannot communicate any additional event logs to my phone! So even if this were true, my phone would only have logs entries showing normal operation. The supervisor said that the logs on the device are cleared when it's re-paired (reconnected) to the Wyze App/server. This means that the device does not have any log permanence. Bottom line, there doesn't seem to be a way to get the log entries from after the lost connection, so I question whether the logs are even useful! 2) The supervisor recommended I write up as much information in the "submit log" request on the Wyze app. This is also frustrating because there is a very small character count allowed in that field of the app; it's impossible to document enough information to be useful! Wyze needs to address the following: 1) Most importantly, the Wype plug firmware needs to be fixed to be more robust to lost connections. This should be a very simple thing! If the device loses its connection, it should NEVER enter pairing mode (slow blinking blue light?). Instead, it should be storing the WiFi credentials (and any other necessary credentials to make it accessible by the user) in EEPROM. When a connection is lost, it should indefinitely try to reconnect to the servers. Based on the symptoms in version 1.20.0.176 and 1.20.0.179, there's some timeout that causes the device to give up; this is a poor design! 2) Make sure that the devices retain their logs in memory. Recommend a log rotation system that keeps logs for X days. Ensure that if the device loses connectivity (as described above), the device can be re-paired/reconnected to the app and server WITHOUT clearing the logs. This ensures that the user can reconnect to the device and submit the logs to the support team/engineers. These logs would clearly show what was happening the moment after the connection is lost. 3) The Wyze app needs to be improved so that the user can enter a sufficient amount of information into the Submit Logs description field. Recommend increasing the word count a lot. 4) The Wyze support system needs to have better feedback. When I submit a log, I'm told it gets to the engineers. But I'm also informed that I will never hear back from them. At some point, the engineers should be able to get on a call with willing customers to gather more information. Despite all this, I really like Wyze devices and want to help Wyze solve their issues. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend these devices to anyone until the issue is fixed. Therefore, I'm giving 1 star. Once the issue is fixed, I'm happy to update my review

Great to use and EZ setup
Great plugs and do easy and simple to setup. Their size is perfect for a standard home wall outlet or a surge strip. They're nice and white and bright looking. They're sturdy and durable and easy to control in Alexa. I wish I could add them to my iPhone’s HOME app and control them there to with all of my others, maybe hopefully someday??? 🤷♀️. I have a TON of ituer plugs in there that I control from the HOME app. But I can also speak to ECHO or ALEXA and control these via the Alexa devices or app. The only issue I have with these is that when Amazon/Alexa acts up and or there’s an Internet issue, I can’t control them at all and I have to go to the light or the fan or whatever it’s controlling and manually do it. Definitely a pain

Use them and they fail within a week
These Wyze plugs are unreliable rubbish. Don't waste your time. When you actually use them to turn on and off a light, within a week or less of use turning on a small table lamp with an LED bulb, I have had all 4 plugs fail that I purchased. That is an amazing 100% failure rate within 1 week! One of the 4 plugs could never update the firmware and never operated. The other 3 initialized and worked great for a few days. Here is the failure pattern, after they appear to work great on day 1: First there is latency in the plug turning on/off when controlled with the app. Then it sometimes would not respond at all to the on/off control of the app. Then the plug lost its ability to connect to the network. (Mind you, the network never moved and it was fine when the plug was set up and operated for a few days.) After it lost the ability to connect, it tried for hours to connect to the network, blinking a blue light. The device then got warm. This failure process could happen within 24 hours, or within a few days. No power on/off or factory resets or anything revived it. Wyze tech support had no useful information. Let's face it - who needs a plug with this bad of reliability? You need these things to work reliable when you are not home babysitting/plugsitting them! Wyze has clearly put in very low-cost communications circuitry that fails. In contrast, we have 7 Wyze cameras that are working *so far*. They are outside and are connected to the identical network that the plugs could not connect to, even they are much farther away. Wyze must put very cheap circuitry in their plugs and better circuitry in their cams. I was going to buy their switch, but I fear that they have the same terrible technology as the plug. We also own some WEMO plugs. They perform far better, and we will go back to that manufacturer. The WEMO software is awful, but at least the hardware works. The Wyze hardware has a stunning failure rate.

Made my life easier
Works as they should, quick to response. Good quality feel and look. Was able to set a timer for when my fish tank lights turned on and off during the day. Work well with the app and even better using my Alexa.

Smarthome plug and play

Connection issues
Been using Wyze cams for a few years now and love them. So i figure i will continue with the Wyze eco system. Since their products seem legit. Unfortunately this is not the case for the plugs. What a disappointment. I guess you get what you pay for. Worked great for a couple of days, the the connectivity issues started. Keep losing connection with my network. Making the product unusable. Blue LED flashes and plug stays always ON. Dispite the firmware upgrade. Very disapointed. *EDIT Since the latest firmware, they been very reliable. Cannot complain. The only thing I wish is that they were compatible with Apple Home.
