Great design except for the lid latch pisses me off LOL
I like it, it works great and the chickens like it too. I got the metal bracket for hanging it as well. I like the removable cup design for cleaning. The only thing that pisses me off about is the damn door latch on the top. That thing- once it snaps closes- is a pain in the ass to get open with one hand while you're holding a pitcher of water to refill it. I literally have to put the pitcher down so I can hold it and PRY the lid open. I'm afraid eventually I'll break it so now I just let it fall "closed" and don't actually snap it completely closed. If that door wasn't so difficult to open it would be 5 stars but as it is, it's infuriating. LOL And I'm a pretty chill chicken lady. It's also a little overpriced for what it is but I do appreciate the family farm that is making this product.. all of the postcard materials/instructions that were included (with a promo code) were very nice (looks like they've got a great marketing team!) so I'm willing to pay extra to support a "local" USA business. EDIT 12/4/23: completely broken now. Managed to save the cup but the square container cracked and started leaking.

Good little water bucket for small coup
Nice little coup waterer. Holds enough to last tru a warm day in Texas. Molded really nice fand hokd water with no leakage. Great for limited space its just the right size. Holding up well but its only been a couple months. I opted for the cup, its fills auromatically with usage and so far no issues. On thing I would add is ability to hang it with something other than the current spring setup. It will hold in place with under suppeort. I have mine sitting on a garden brick with waterer attached to screen side of coup. Woth the money.

These are great!
I have been searching for something that I can hang on the cage for baby chicks. Something other than the typical waterers you find in the feed stores. The chicks love to scratch around and always get hay and wood shavings in the waterers. This is the perfect solution! I really like the removable cup that comes with it. So easy to take out and clean daily. My only complaint is that the metal spring holder that comes with it does not seem to hold the unit up when filled completely. I was unable to hook it to the door of the cage to save space, as I'd hoped. I took a couple of bricks and set it on them. That seems to work well for now but, I guess I will be spending the extra few dollars to purchase the metal holder they sell as an alternative. I do like the fact that I am supporting a family business.

JUST ORDER IT! Highly recommend!!
I just want you to know, for anyone considering this product, if you've ever raised chicks before with the old jar screwed into a watering base, or any other of the hundreds of watering options that have been around, and dealt with all the mess and wet bedding and smell from that etc, GET THIS! You will never go back! I LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! Loved it so much that I got my husband to order the individual watering cups to attach to buckets for his chicken pens! Amazing product! And if you register your product with RentACoop, you get an extended 2 year warranty!!! Only thing I will say is read your instructions before you start! The cup SCREWS into the water container LOL. I thought it pushed in and sat here for 15 minutes trying to push it in before looking at the instructions and then saw that it screws in, and had it together and ready to go in less than 1 minute! Also, make sure to set your waterer up on something so that the water cup has full clearance to drop all the way level or it won't shut off! It has to be able to fill and drop all the way down to shut itself off. And lastly, pay attention about the gasket. It stays on the outside of the container, NOT INSIDE! Highly recommend! Just counting the minutes before they get the feeder in stock so I can order it! If it's as great as the waterer I'll never go back!!

Works - waters the chickens. Low quality materials
This works. It waters the chickens just fine. The reason I cannot give it a good rating is because of its lower quality. The red top lid doesn't fit well, it pops off easily. I find it on the ground after a heavy wind. This issue allows dirt and grass into the tank and plugs the feeder tube. The plastic butterfly nut on the inside is useless. It does not tighten AT ALL. It just spins on the plastic bolt. I took mine off since it was not performing any useful functions. The only reason this poor design doesn't leak all over the ground is because they put in a rubber gasket that stops water from leaking out of the bolt hole. The overall idea was good, the quality of the plastic used is very poor. I will not buy another one, nor would I recommend it. I will make my own waterer next time using a 5 gallon bucket.

Cockatiels love it!
Love this concept. Had something similar when I had chickens and this is an improvement on what I had for my cockatiels. My only gripe is that I wish it had some sort of valve. Simply because if they poop in the bowl insert and you want to clean the insert, the base lid fills up with water. So when you put the freshly cleaned insert into the bowl the water is displaced and goes everywhere. Not such a bad thing for chickens outside but makes a big mess in a bird cage. I just take a rag to stop it up so I can clean it.

WORKS GREAT!!! You should buy it!
The way it works is, there is a spring inside. When the cup is light, it allows water to flow in. When the cup is full of water (or dirt), the weight of the cup closes the opening so no water flow. There is a removable cup inside the big cup for easy cleaning however I have found that sometimes its hard to pull out. If too much dirt gets inside, I swirl my finger round in the water to get the dirt up, then turn the cup to the left and let it dump out. I added a video so you can see how well the chickens like it. The pictures to show how I put it on my chicken run. I've had this for probably 5+ months now and it's working out great (Update: 8 months and it still works great!). Occasionally, the water will get some green in it, so I wash it out, but it's really not that difficult. My chicks were hatched in April 2021 and started using this around October (about 6 month old). I only have 2 chickens. It's easy to lift the lid and fill with water when they run out. This is working out WAY BETTER than the other cups I had where their beaks were supposed to hit the yellow ball inside the cup and that would allow water flow, but they didn't (several problems with those). I have not used this one inside the coop, just in the run, but to my knowledge it doesn't leak. I did purchase a smaller one to set up inside their coop, I just haven't gotten around to it yet (right now I put it on a few bricks under a tree outside their run so when I let them roam, they have water. Its working out great! Update: This is my first summer using these and the water gets hot (like it would with any waterer). I live in CA and we've been having multiple days over 100. However, I fill up used water bottles and freeze them, then cut off the plastic (or make a few holes in the bottom) and throw a frozen 12oz bottle into the waterer (fits great!). Then, as it melts, they get more water. It melts slower than just using ice cubes. It even fits a 32oz Gatorade bottle (just can't close the top). This has been helping keep their water cooler longer. I am running out of used water bottles haha and will probably just keep reusing like an ice pack. I only have 2 chickens so it takes them awhile to run out of water. Anyways, just a helpful tip I picked up.

Difficult to use. Gets dirty easily. Hard to clean.
This seems like a great waterer on paper, but it's hard to use, the water cup gets dirty, and it's hard to clean. Plus the lid doesn't fit right. In order to attach this to the side of the chicken run, you have to have one hand on the inside and one on the outside. So it's either a two-person job, or you can only attach it within arms length of the door. Doing it by myself, I had to hold the outside in place and then stick the cup through the hardware cloth. BUT, the holes on the hardware cloth were too small, so I had to clip the hardware cloth to make a bigger hole. (Now I have a hole in the hardware cloth.) I attached the spring, filled it with water, and tried to put on the lid. The lid wouldn't go on. It would sit on top but I couldn't get one side to snap on without the other side popping up. So basically the lid just sits on top and a little wind will cause it to blow away. The next day I went out to check on the chickens and the cup was full of pieces of the bedding (pine shavings). I couldn't just dump the water/shavings out because the whole contraption is attached to the side of the chicken run. To empty the cup I had to remove the spring and unscrew the cup. Water was pouring out everywhere and soaking the bedding. Unfortunately I'm going to have to return this. It simply isn't practical.

Eggsellent product, only tiny moan
Eggsellent product, only tiny moan - the big spring isn't strong enough to hold it up, a brick did the trick. Now have my second unit and despite the brick would buy another if I needed any more.

absolutely love it!!
I bought one of these about a year ago for my ferrets so they wouldn't waste as much water. Worked perfectly and still does! I just recently bought this second one for my pet rats (their original bottle kept leaking). Did the trick and no wasted water. it's always full and ready to go. No issues!

best small chicken waterer!
I bought the rentacoop cup waterers to convert a nipple waterer that I had. I then saw a smaller model which I got for chicks. I wanted to order a larger one for bantam pairs and saw this 2 l size with the cup. I bought 3 of them for my single roosters and bantam pairs! I will be buying more soon!

Cup not like the 1 litre version
My hens are disappointed to find the cup on this 2-litre drinker is narrower and deeper than the cup on the 1-litre version which they prefer. Were the cup the same design then I'm sure they would have awarded 5*****

Brilliant!
Bought for my 3 hens so they can have a nice clean drink when the automatic coop door opens at daybreak and I can stay in bed till 7 without feeling guilty! Its fantastic, wish I'd found it years ago.
