Awesome knife! Impressive quality for the price.
I am by no means a professional chef and I've never had the money to purchase expensive, fancy knives because I'm a financially independent college student living off scholarships and loans. That being said, as far as my personal knife experiences go this is one of the best knives I've ever used. I do a lot of cooking and chop large amounts of vegetables about 4 or 5 times a week. It responds very well to sharpening and it holds its edge quite well- significantly better than the other knives I have in my drawer! It cuts tomatoes without squishing them, slices onions without slipping off of them, and lets me easily get through butternut squash and turnips. Honestly for just under $14 this is an invaluable investment and it seems that a good, sharp knife makes cooking a lot less tedious. The light weight is nice and the shape of the handle keeps my hands from cramping when I'm chopping a large batch of sturdy veggies. The chef knife style blade is deep enough that I don't have to worry about smooshing my knuckles into the cutting board, either. The plastic sheath also really came in handy when I was moving because I didn't have to wrap it. It also lets me store it in the cutlery drawer without having to find a place for it in my knife holder. All in all, excellent knife and I will probably be ordering the other size knives from Zyliss as well because I like this one so much.

I love my first Zyliss Chef's Knife, just like my second knife 4/5
I bought one of these knives in the store years ago and these knives really work well. I did not realize it at first, but they are hollow ground knife blades, and they initially were foreign to me so I resisted using it. When I started to use it, wow, did this knife cut, and it did not get dull. My best test is slicing tomatoes, and veggies, you know, generally all around chef stuff you need to cook something. What makes me a little confused is that now that I have ordered and received a second knife I don't understand why it is not as sharp or does not cut as well as the older first knife? Both are acceptably sharp, but the new knife is not as sharp towards the tip of the blade. I never sharpened the original knife, by the way. I want to give Zyliss a 5/5 for all the years of service my original purchase gave me, and is still giving me, but I have to question their current quality control or manufacturing process. What happened Zyliss? Still both knives are great, and compared to some of the name brands and so-called premium brands, these are much less expensive, their handles fit better and they cut much better. My next purchase will be some smaller Zyliss knives, Ii really like them. I am going to rate this new knife 4/5 and take a point off for it not being as sharp as the original. Rated 4/5 ( I could use some pointers or information on what to use and how to sharpen these knives when they need it, which is not very often. )

Best Dollar Per Inch I've Ever Paid
This is the second of this exact knife I purchased, because it is such a great value and design. The gift knife was for my roomate's mother who would ask me where my knife was every time she stopped by to cook even though there are 15 other knives to choose from. The things I really like about it are: the shape, size, and balance, the sheath (great for tpacking for camping or travel, or hiding in a drawer so people that have no appreciate for a good knife dont destroy it), and how inexpensive it is for the performance. I sharpen regularly with a cheap sharpener, and this keeps it cutting well with little effort. The one downside I've noticed is that the tip is fragile. The knife tip first was bent at the very end from being buried in dishes in the sink, and later broke off at the very end from the same abbuse. Regardless, it keeps performimg incredibly well and I'm not even upset because of the price point. I have an expensive Wustoff that I break out for extensive prep, but the Zyliss is my go-to.

Great knife for someone starting out
Honestly I just moved into my new place before I used this, and was getting really tired of using a butter knife to cut potatoes. So I bought this thing and was surprised! It's super sharp and cuts extremely well. I also bought a nice cutting board and together I actually had fun cooking instead of feeling like it was a chore before having dinner. Not only that but I started adding more vegetables to my meals so I was eating healthier too. It fits nicely into the sheath and the rubberized handle is great for control. Now for the cons, the blade has rusted in a few tiny spots since I bought it (a little short of 4 months ago), the sheath tends to hold water if you stick the blade in right after washing (probably contributes to rusting), and it doesn't cut as perfectly as when I first bought it. But overall for the price (currently less than $16) it's a damn good cooking knife! Happy with my purchase :)

Good knife but the price point shows
This knife is not bad but it's certainly not rated as highly in my book as others have rated it here. The knife is sharp indeed. However, it does dull quickly. You can, of course, sharpen it at home but I would say that for someone who has had this knife for less than 6 months, the dullness is atypical of something I would call a good knife. I also have issues with the evenness of the sharpness. I feel like the middle of the blade is the sharpest while the tip and the part closest to the handle are lacking. I'm not too thrilled about that because I have to constantly readjust the knife when I need to slice things more precisely. I also hate that for certain uses where I would want to use the tip of the blade, I have to switch to a different knife. My biggest issue is the lightness. It's very light so much so that I have to keep pressing down pretty hard so the blade could cut through. This is true for things like butternut squash which is hard to cut anyway but unfortunately also true for carrots, watermelon and other food this shouldn't be much of a problem with. I do appreciate the blade cover! I don't have a variety of knives so I don't have a knife block. The cover is perfect for keeping this knife in the drawer with my other kitchen utensils. Overall, it's worth the price as it is. It's going in the drawer with probably another knife. For a minimalist, I wish I hadn't bought it. I would've rather spent the extra money on a single knife that would have sufficed for most of my purposes.

Best not-a-grocery-store knife for the money.
Since I started cooking more for myself to eat healthier, I needed a way to cut up cabbage and the grocery store knives weren't doing it. They were too short and couldn't get sharp enough to make the task easy. The Zyliss is a perfect knife for anyone who wants to start cooking for themselves, but isn't a pro and not ready to invest in one of those reality kitchen knives that cost $100 or more. If all your cooking for is one or two people, then you don't need something that can slice through a tin can in 2 seconds anyway. That's too much knife for too little a job. So, for the price, the Zyliss is probably the best value you can get for something that approaches a serious chef's knife. It makes short work of my cabbages and keeps a very sharp edge. I do need to sharpen it about once a week though, so be sure to buy a good sharpener with it.

Great Little Knife
I bought this knife 4 year ago, when I got it we had a serious illness in the family and I stuck it in a drawer and forgot all about it. Cleaning out the drawer last week, I found it and thought "What the heck, I will try it now." Well, now I regret stashing it away It is a great knife. It it just a tad smaller and lighter than my other chef's knives (I think that is why I bought it in the first place, to try the smaller knife.) Sharp, sharp, sharp. Easy to hold and feels nicely balanced to me. I like the handle, gives my arthritic hands a good grip. I cannot speak to how it will last over the years, but right now, I am using it every day. Nothing like a good knife that is sharp and fits your hand. Besides that, the price is right I have paid much more for a lesser quality knife

No rust so far
Maybe because I tend to wash it right away but no visible rust so far. I have waited about 6 months to see if the thing indeed rusts but none so far. That is good considering I like to cut limes and tomatoes with it. I think I may go for the full set now that I know the product is good. I have had to sharpen it a couple of times though. It holds a good edge but I just like to keep it razor sharp.

¡Excelente!
Hasta ahora, muy buen cuchillo. Muy filoso, cómodo, no es pesado, pero tampoco se siente un cuchillo débil ¡Encantado de usarlo casi para todo! Si lo recomiendo. Excelente opción.
