Rakuten Kobo Libra H2O Zwart

I bought this a little over a week ago after owning a Kindle Paperwhite (2018) since May 2021. The main reason is that I wanted a slightly bigger device with Comfort Light and physical page-turn buttons. I thought about getting a Kindle Oasis but could not justify the price, so I went for a Kobo Libra H2O instead. Although the device does not feel as premium as a Kindle Oasis (Plastic vs Aluminium), it's an absolute joy to use, very light and super comfortable to hold in the hand. If you are invested in the Amazon ecosystem and have most of your e-books from them, you are likely better off with a Kindle, although there are ways to "export" your Amazon books and sideload them to Kobo (which I did). The process isn't straightforward so I wouldn't recommend it unless you are tech-savvy and like this sort of things. That said, the experience with Kobo is very similar. You have a book store with millions of e-books and you can also load your own books from elsewhere by using a computer. Any retailer that sells e-books in the Adobe Digital Edition format (i.e. not Amazon) will work with Kobo as long as you authorise your device. You also have native support for ePubs, unlike Kindle devices. The OS is also more open to tinkering and you can load custom readers (to replace the stock one) or apps if you look around the web. That said, this is not an Android device, so do not expect millions of apps or even an app store. It's main purpose is to read books on. All in all, I am very happy with the purchase and highly recommend this product.

I haven't heard about Kobo previously but when I was looking for a reader for my wife, somehow I found this brand along with others. On Amazon there was a nice discount on it so I gave it a try. I think this 7" screen size is just perfect, the most common 6" would me small. Size and design is very similar to Amazon's Oasis. This Kobo is very light, has a really nice finish and it feels solid. Display is sharp, the adjustable brightness and colour temperature is very useful. Physical page turn buttons are handy. At the beginning I thought it would be nice to have dedicated buttons for brightness as well, then realized that I can change the brightness if I swipe my finger up or down on the left side of the screen. Amazing. The reader is fast, Kobo's ebook library offers a great choice for reasonable prices, but it's also very easy to move files onto the reader with the usb cable. I'm really satisfied with this purchase.

There are more detailed reviews out there, videos etc so I'll make this short. Excellent battery, crisp screen, lightweight and build quality is pleasing. Decent brightness, I appreciate the soft lighting feature too. Swiping up and down the side of the screen to change is also superb. Accelerometer and page turn buttons only enhance the experience. One handed or two handed is comfortable. I sideload a lot of content and import fonts, which this device handled with ease. There is also a nifty Dropbox functionality I enabled. Have been using a 2013 Paperwhite from new and tried an Oasis 2020 model last year, wasn't impressed and sent it back. This has finally retired my ageing Paperwhite after many years of good service. Would heartily recommend the Kobo Libra H20 heartily to any eReader fan!

This is the 1st time I have bought a Kobo Libra H2O e-Reader and I am very impressed. It was easy to set up and it will take several formats of e-book so if you have books from other e-Readers you can transfer them over to your Kobo. I wanted one as I read a lot in bed and the backlight is ideal, it does adjust itself for the lighting conditions but you can alter it yourself by just sliding your finger down the left hand side of the reader without have to go into settings to adjust. The Kobo website also has free books to download and many at £0.99p. I wish I had bought this earlier!

This is a perfect basic ereader for fiction/nonfiction. Too small for Comics or textbooks but a great alternative to Kindle locked system. No adds <3

It has everything you need to read books comfortably. The Pocket integration for articles is amazing! Slightly small for pdfs, but it's not that bad.

I love reading my books on this device. Very good quality.

I tried 3 of these ereaders (two from Amazon, one from another retailer) and unfortunately had to return them all as the gradient of the blue and amber light on the screen is uneven. I am surprised more reviews do not mention this, as it is a known fault online. The problem did vary between the units, but it was always there to some degree and was too offputting for me to live with. It is a shame, as the ereader is otherwise very good, comfortable to hold and had all the features I wanted and more. I ended up getting a Kindle Oasis for £40 more in the black Friday deal and it is well worth the extra £40, the screen is completely evenly lit. Sorry Kobo, I really wanted to pick your product over Amazon but unfortunately the quality just wasn't good enough :(

Cosa ha in più? che le scritte ruotano e quindi puoi usarlo in entrambi i versi, rendendo le righe più lunghe come se fosse molto più grande, comodi i tasti fisici anche se non essenziali, moltooo comoda l'illuminazione, anche se il cambio di temperatura con il passare delle ore lascia a desiderare...ma comodo, si fatica molto meno a leggere sia la mattina con un bianco freddo che la sera con un bianco caldo. Per i libri va benissimo, per i pdf è ancora un poco piccolino, forse aumentare di qualche cm la dimensione maggiore lo avrebbe reso funzionale per leggere i fumetti ed i pdf in genere, di fatto al di la della mancanza del colore a leggere pdf ti passa la voglia, resta più comodo un pc, un tablet o perfino il cellulare.... ma per i libri va benissimo, quasi perfetto perché gli manca un lettore di micro sd, ed è un vero peccato, perché se da un lato è vero che ha memoria in abbondanza per uno svarione di libri è anche vero che se ci metti un po' di pdf non ci vuole molto a riempirlo...e un slot micro sd ci stava tutto e non avrebbe inciso in modo significativo sul prezzo. Altro difetto, dopo un anno di utilizzo non intenso, è la durata della batteria...un piccolo sportellino per metterci una batteria supplementare sarebbe stato utile....ma di fatto giriamo sempre con power bank o prese a portata di mano...però se usi la retroilluminazione....e alla fine la usi perché se stai in treno l'esperienza di lettura con luce costante ha il suo perché...gli occhi si stancano molto meno, anche con luce ed ombre raggi di sole, lampade, ombre proiettate da chi si muove intorno a noi. Un MUST è la cover con flip magnetico attivo che si trova a 10€, rispetto al costo dell'e-reader sarebbe ridicolo non acquistarla . Nel complesso lo consigli vivamente, credo sia il miglior e-reader disponibile, altrio MUST il software di gestione calibre con il quale trasfomare gli epup o qualsiasi altro formato in kepub: perfetto! ha anche pocket, se vedo qualcosa di interessante su qualsiasi altro device, lo sincronizzi e te lo leggi senza pubblicità e senza retroilluminazione dello schermo...per questo quei cm in più sarebbero stati il top, anche perdendo un minimo di portabilità, tanto non è tascabile, per quello meglio un 6" ma se ti porti dietro uno zainetto 3 cm in più non fanno differenza. Per il resto è ok, altri funzioni non servono, le abbiamo sullo smartphone.

Yo estaba muy contenta con mi Kobo Aura, que vino con un defectillo que no me molestaba. Pero ese defectillo un año después empeoró y tuve que cambiar de libro. Seguí confiando en Kobo, porque la verdad estaba contenta con el producto, aunque no pudiesen solucionarme ese fallo. Afortunadamente compré a través de Amazon y me devolvieron el dinero. Me fijé en los nuevos libros y me decidí por este. Tras varios meses de uso, me gusta incluso más que el Aura. Tienen un formato similar, casi cuadrados y no tan alargados. Una de las diferencias a nivel físico es que el Libra tiene botones, para quien prefiera darle al botón en lugar de tocar la pantalla. En la zona de los botones es un poquito más ancho de marco para poder sujetarlo, bastante cómodamente. Los botones son muy silenciosos; es decir, no hacen un "click" sonoro al tocarlos. Depende de cómo cojas el e-reader, el texto se voltea, tanto en horizontal como en vertical. Es útil si posees una funda de estas que se pliegan y sostienen el libro encima de una superficie. La luz la puedes regular y la letra está muy clara. Permite ordenes por colecciones y autores, filtrar según el estado del libro, buscar libros para leer en la plataforma o leer libros prestados de bibliotecas, etc. Algo MUY bueno que tiene este libro sobre otros es que se pueden leer cómics y mangas perfectamente. De hecho, en el Kobo Aura era imposible porque acababan por superponerse las imágenes, incluso me pasaba con libros que tenían alguna foto o dibujo entre el texto. Con el Libra me he leído todo el manga de Shingeki No Kyojin y podéis apreciar en las imágenes que se ve genial. Otra novedad es que, cuando cambias de página, te muestra una previsualización. Personalmente a mí no me sirve de nada porque leo narrativa, pero a otros con otro tipo de lecturas supongo que sí. En cambio, tengo la sensación de que la batería dura un poquito menos en comparación con el Aura, incluso con el wifi apagado. Que aún así, tienen que pasar semanas y semanas de uso para que se agote, ojo. Igual es percepción mía. En la última actualización cambiaron la pantalla de inicio. La verdad, me gusta más que la que había antes en los Kobo. También volvieron a poner el diccionario: cuando lo compré, el diccionario solo funcionaba con libros comprados en Kobo. Hablé con el soporte y me dijeron que se había decidido así, y no estaba disponible ni para libros prestados de bibliotecas públicas. Me pareció un error MUY gordo y un gesto cutre por parte de Kobo; pero, como digo, en la última actualización volvió a estar disponible.

Fabulous E-reader. Wouldn't be without it. Totally recommend it.

Ich bin, seitdem Sony aus dem eBookReader-Geschäft ausgestiegen ist, auf der Suche nach einem Nachfolger. Habe mehrere verschiedene Geräte probiert und bin heuer beim Kobo gelandet. Die Software ist nicht perfekt - da war die beim Tolino wesentlich besser - aber die Knöpfe!! zum!! Blättern!! endlich!! Wie hab ich die vermisst!! Generell ist das Leseerlebnis wunderbar - das Licht kann was Farbe und Intensität betrifft verstellt werden, die installierten Schriften, auf die man wechseln kann, sollten für jeden etwas dabeihaben und das Display ist kristallklar. Beim Wechsel von rechter auf linke Hand dreht das Display automatisch. Fein! Ich finde es auch sehr praktisch, dass die geänderten Schrifteinstellungen gleich für das nächste Buch beibehalten werden; allerdings wenn die verlagseigene Schriftgestaltung zu abstrus ist, muss man nachjustieren. Einziger Wehrmutstropfen: man muss sich bei Kobo registrieren bevor das Ding überhaupt läuft. Wenn man, so wie ich, nicht vorhat den Shop zu nutzen, ärgerlich. Trotz all der Kritik 5 Sterne ... zum lesen im Moment ungeschlagen.
