The back of the pack is made from canvas,not is waxed canvas.

How should I clean this bag? Can I just wash with water?

This a waxed canvas bag so it's waterproof, yes it can be washed the leather and the back of the bag are the most vulnerable, I would use a damp cloth for those. Whipping it down with rag, even a soapy rag and rinsing, yes no problem. Washing this in a washing machine or submerging it; I wouldnt do that unless I had too. Then I would let it air dry, that would take a day or two.
