While Geoff Johns is good at the epic story telling, Parker’s run is especially good at more “daily life” stories for Aquaman and Mera. These are not so much grim adventures as they are just having fun with the characters in their world. The humor—especially in the reunion issue—is fantastic. However, individual mileage may vary depending on your expectations for storytelling style. While this is one of my favorite trades, it falters a bit on the art. A lot of good, but it takes the artist a while to get a handle on Aquaman and Mera’s faces. But the writing is fun enough for me to forgive the faults.

Great book, he is going to love adding this to his collection.

The ending jumped around quite a few stories; crossovers with other comics. I suppose it was inevitable based on how modern comics run.

Crossovers and guest stars galore in this volume. Royal struggles against literal demons, to learn that poor choices from a king can have huge consequences. With his ever present Mera by his side, Arthur still makes we wanna know what happens next.

Still trying to balance his role as King of Atlantis with his surrface life, Arthur tries to control the Karaqan, a beast which will prove his right to the throne. He also must deal with a human incursion of the seas whilst bringing Mera to his High School reunion. When his triton is borrowed by an archaeologist, it could spell doom for the world when the device proves to be a key to an ancient gateway. The artwork is, as ever, outstanding and there is a real pleasure in seeing the Justice League characgters through Arthur's eyes. The story is on point and balances the high tension between the United States and Atlantis very well.

Dopo la rivalutazione di Aquaman nei New 52 scritti da Geoff Johns e illustrati da Ivan Reis, mi spiace dire che con questo si ritorna al vecchio Aquaman barzelletta dei supereroi. Sia per la storia che per i disegni. Per i lettori/collezionisti ci si può benissimo fermare al book precedente "Aquaman 4: Death of a King".

This series is getting better. I enjoyed Geoff Johns run but I think this is even better. The world building is great and it feels much larger. The main villains in this are imaginative nightmare creatures and well drawn and I like the politics of Atlantis that make it feel more important than just Aquaman’s back story. A good issue.
