Simplicity Pattern 1080 Misses' Dress or Tunic by Dottie Angel, Size A (XS-S-M-L-XL)

Cute, comfortable, nostalgic frock you can wear all day, with sweater, leggings, or as is. Modest knee length you can move around in. The high ties create an empire waist that is forgiving to the flesh. I have made three of these so far, with several adjustments. 1) Drop the front ties down 3/4 inch. IMO they're too high even for pert bosoms. 2) Raise the neckline 1/2 to 3/4 inch. Too big otherwise. 3) Nip the inside shoulder to give it shape. The original shoulder is a straight angled slash that doesn't lie flat on the shoulder, but will stick up around your ears. From the neckline to 4 inches out, I cut a triangle measuring 3/4 inch at the neck. 4) Instead of seam binding, I use strips of the same or contrasting fabric to bind the pockets and neckline. Looks better to my eye. (Too lazy to cut the strips on bias, but they work just the same). I like the option to do borders and pockets in different fabrics. It's time-consuming but gives you a unique look (if you can pick fabrics that clash just right). One one of my dresses, I made a 3 inch black border at the bottom to compensate for insufficient fabric. This was a nice accent; it doesn't have to be as big as shown in the pattern. The pattern envelope is charming, with the young models breezily wearing this nostalgic hausfrau dress. Fortunately they didn't have to live through the days when housewifery was almost mandatory. The big shaped pockets are super functional. Love this dress.

I bought this pattern to make a birthday gift for one daughter and have been very pleased with it. It has a forgiving fit (yay for any dress that works on bloat days!) and was relative easy to modify for a large bust. It makes extensive use of seam binding in areas where I'd use a French seam, but that's personal choice. The construction techniques are easy and require no special sewing skills other than accuracy, and it works up quickly.

Cute and easy to use. I've already completed two dresses for summer. Only slight problem was the neckline. It could have been a bit smaller so that the front of the dress was a bit higher. Will be making more of these as they are comfortable and quick.

I really appreciate the freedom for creativity allowed for the sewer. I am not a very experienced seamstress and was really please that I could easily mix and match fabrics in fun ways and that this pattern was so easy to follow. Very cute dress and tunic.

One of favorite patterns ever! You can skip some of the binding on the sides of you have a server (don't skip the binding on the neck hole and arm holes, though). Super simple pattern and very flattering. Plus, POCKETS.

The pattern is okay. The instructions for the pockets and the cap sleeves are a little hard to follow. I had to resew one of the pockets a couple of times to actually get it to attach properly. But it's a cute apron dress, I wear it in the garden, it's easy to slide on over whatever I'm wearing and the pockets are good and roomy.

Super fast shipping!!! Granted i did pick expedited shipping, but still, iI bought it on sat morning and got it tues (today). Usually it can take a week with expedited shipping with other sellers. Easy instructions and fit well after sewn together. Here is a tip for people who are new a sewing. When you take your measurements, look at the bottom of the pattern and find the " finished measurements" section and base your measurements off that. You will get a way better fit! Would definitely buy again from seller!!!!
