SHIBUMI Straight Razor Japanese Style Shavette | Uses Standard Half Blades For Precise Barber-Style Shaving, Non Folding Razor

I’ve owned shavette razors before but this is the best by far. The non-folding design is easier for me to hold and to be able to see what I’m doing, I’ve also experienced very little cuts or irritation (if I did it was usually me rushing the process). It has a good weight and the blade remains very secure.

I received this razor about 2 months ago as a gift from my daughter from if had it i haven't used any of my other shavettes. This razor is well worth the money and with it using half DE blades makes it even better it came professionally packaged and well on time my advice to anyone is to get this razor from a great seller

Buying this shavette through Amazon is by far the cheapest I've seen it. I was skeptical at first but the razor has a decent enough weight to it. Feels solid, well made and has a decent grip thanks to the ratan wrap. Even if it is plastic and not the real thing. In all honesty I was disappointed out of the box given some of the reviews I had a feeling this would actually take the 2" Japanese single blades. It doesn't. It definitely takes DE blades snapped in half then inserted. I've added a photo showing exactly how the blade fits. This is an easy process, the bracket slides out with a push on the jimping on the handle, blade goes on, slides back in. Keep in mind this razor DID NOT come with any blades despite stating it does. So you will need to buy DE blades separately. For the price on Amazon this is forgivable. To the important bit, shaving. I've been straight razor shaving for nearly ten years now and have had a couple of kamisori style razors like this. Like many I started learning with shavette razors before spending on hollow ground razors, and at first found shavettes very very unforgiving. Especially with DE blades. This one however is not the same. Combined with the feather blades you see in the photo this will begin shaving with next to no pressure at all. I was actually quite impressed how easy it glides over the skin removing stubble without any nicks cuts or shaving burn. Very smooth indeed. Kamisori's are more versatile than folding razors so this is great for beginners to learn the shaving angle and master the technique before spending on more premium razors. If all you want is a smooth shave however there really is no need. There's no need to sharpen or strop these types of razors so that's money saved instantly. So is it worth it? Definitely for the Amazon price. I'm still disappointed it doesn't take the longer Japanese blades but shavettes that do are at least five times the price. This is the perfect tool to begin learning the art of kamisori shaving.

This is the greatest shavette I own... And I own a lot! It's very accurate, nicely made and much more ergonomic compared to the western, folding shaveettes.

Having used straight razors for many years I though I'd move on from my Bluebeard razor and try something a more quirky. It gives a lot more control and the feel of the shave transfers down the handle. Quite comfortable and enjoyable to use. I wouldn't leave a blade in after use (dangerous to do so) and suspect not cleaning/drying it after a shave will result in rust inside as the slider quickly loses its protective paint. The blade holding clips are also very good and secures the blade well. The handle wrap I wish had more of a fabric feel rather than plastic but other than that I'd say it's a nice unique shaver. I'd recommend getting those bamboo straight razor stands you can buy as it fits well with it's theme.

The razor sits way too loose and it hurts your face, sounds like your shaving with a rusty coke can. It is also very fiddly to get the blade into the slots which is very dangerous.

When snapped in half the blades do not fit this product as the blade loader will not slide back in with the blade in place Update. Managed to get the blade in but it isn't held securely. Result worst shave since I started using shavettes/straight razors so back in the box and the darkest recesses of my drawer it goes.

Preciosa y muy cómoda navaja de afeitar estilo japonés que a mí al menos me ha encantado el afeitado con ella. Muy fácil de utilizar ya que es algo pesada (cosa que para mi gusto es lo mejor), y permite poner de forma "natural" el ángulo perfecto con el que afeitarte sin cortarte por lo que te hace de forma más sencilla el afeitarte de forma tradicional y con menos irritación. Me ha sorprendido gratamente tanto la estética como el uso de la navaja quee ha encantado. Por ponerle alguna pega, indicar que el mango está fabricado en una especie de cuerda plana de plástico que seguramente cambiaré en breve por alguna de tela o nylon para que no sea algo resbaladiza a la hora de que la uses con las manos mojadas o con espuma.
