Great read!
Marcus has big dreams....to be a prefector for the emperor. He compromises his beliefs when he tells himself he was not actually harming Annia's baby. He is just taking her to his mother's home to be rescued, but still takes money from Annia's ex husband to do it wanting to advance his career. His mind is on his dream and not in fully trusting God and his will for him. I love how when he meets Annia his dream changes and it points him back to serving God and protecting Annia and her children. He sees how she loves her children so much she will fight for them. When Annia finds out he was paid to "expose" her baby girl, she turns from him and is very angry at him. He tells her his dream has changed and now she is his dream. Wonderful love story of forgiveness and how doing little things for The Lord does make a difference, one life at a time.

A lovely read
This novel was beautifully written. The love that grows between the characters is sweet and leaves you sighing (in a good way) as the two interact. The development of the plot and characters is very strong. You can tell that the author put in a lot of time to research this era. The love and dedication that she put into this book is evident with every turn of the page.

Good Read
I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. I think Ms. Jay's writing is decent but sometimes the scenes jump around. There is also a little historical inaccuracies but if you can get past that it's a good read.

Excellent plot and good characters noted
Excellent plot and good characters noted. It dew the reader right into the emotions if the characters. I loved how the children were presented especially their interactions as siblings among themselves. It was genuine in their display if rivalry and playfulness of their behaviors as the story grew. Overally, it was a good love story with strong biblical values.

HER ROMAN PROTECTOR
IT WAS JUST A BOOK THAT BROUGHT HOPE INTO MY LIFE, I DO RECOMMEND IT TO OTHERS.-- IN MANY COUNTRIES, SOME OF THIS IS STILL GOING ON, AND IT IS A SHAME..THEY WILL HAVE TO ANSWER TO GOD FOR THEIR CRIMES AGAINST BABIES AND CHILDREN FOR THAT MATTER.

Wowser!
Milinda Jay writes very convincing historical romances. I loved this story. I don't usually like romance as such, but I was there with the characters.

just one word: Disaster!
I have no clue how anyone can give this book more than one star. The whole plot could have been interesting, but absolutely nothing about this story was coherent or well researched. First of all, you have a main character in his mid thirties behaving like a teenager and a pain in the butt as a heroine. Honestly I've stopped counting how many times this woman annoyed me until I stopped reading at 85% of the story on my kindle. Forget about the romance - which was not happening in any way - the issue I was fighting page after page was that Annia was from Britain, a highborn patrician (today's high-society), but then again she was trained in combat *facepalm* and was forced to do house chores like scrubbing floors, shearing sheeps... excuse me, but as a highborn, well-bred woman you would have never ever done such jobs or trained in wilds of Britain. And the cherry on top - he joins her in all her chores. Please imagine a roman soldier of wealthy background on his knees... No clue what bothered and annoyed me more. Roman society was based on strict rules of birth, ranks and money. If you were a patrician, you were raised as one!
