Like the wire I remember when I was young! Realistically priced, too! Real copper, full gauge, thick covering. Flexible, pliable, soft but strong enough for pulling... not stiff or brittle like the copper-clad aluminum used in most speaker wires today. A pleasure to work with; unrolling it off the spool it lays flat across the floor like melted butter. It's a little bit heavier and thicker than most modern lamp cord but not ridiculously bulky like "Monster Cable"... I was able to push/hide two runs under my baseboards. Strands don't break off when twisting ends and it's a breeze to solder. I don't buy into today's oxygen-free hype, this is just nicely-made, real copper wire. I'm very happy with my purchase.

This had to be one of the best buys I have found on Amazon. I was using this copper wire for a car audio setup. I had to install a 4 channel amplifier and was lacking the speaker wire needed. This was by far the best deal I found on this amount of copper wire, and with the fastest shipping through prime, of course. The wire is super high quality, negative clearly marked with a blue streak running down the side, true 16 gauge. The wire is super flexible and was so simple to navigate through my car's tight spaces. The casing is very durable as well; I left some wire exposed in between my door and where it connects to the car and it has held up very nicely. After installing the 4 speakers, I even had a few feet left over. Now that's value!! Would recommend to anyone looking for some nice OFC speaker wire. You can't beat this price or quality; I looked around everywhere and this was the best deal.

This is very good wire, the wire jacket is flexible and the wire is fine copper strands. I used this to wire up a Mesa Boogie Rectifier cabinet that I had originally rewired with el-cheapo wire from Radio Shack. Big mistake..Turns out, that wire I had purchased then was aluminum core copper plated wire. It failed at a gig, horrible timing but that's usually the case, right?... I soldered this stuff up to the Celestian V30 speakers and my guitar cabinet sounds amazing. Well worth the money I can't wait to use the rest of the wire for other music gear and stereo equipment for a fine upgrade.

I know the real copper inside electric motors (how it feels when u bend it or scratch it). I don't feel the same AT ALL with this wire so I removed 1 star. Otherwise it's a good wire.

I’m Happy with my purchase, and given the mixed reviews on packaging and quality I thought I’d provide an updated review on Monoprice Choice Series 16 AWG. I almost did not purchase because of all the bazaar reviews. Application: 5 satellite speakers for “surround sound” in my home office. Packaging: Product arrived in a plastic Amazon bag. inside the bag was a well packaged box with a Monoprice barcode and part number on four sides(see pics if you are interested). Inside the box was a generic looking spool with the same barcode and part number listed on the outside of the box. The cable was well wound around the spool and secured with adequate, though weak shrink wrap. The spool is generic looking and it isn’t falling apart any time in the next decade, not like other reviews have mentioned. On to the cable. The cable is plenty flexible for almost any reasonable needs. The plastic insulator on the outside of the cables is plenty thick to provide protection and the two wires separate easily from each other. The insulator is easily stripped without harming the copper strands inside and is labeled “Monoprice power limited…”, see picture for more words. The copper. I counted 26 individual strands in each conductor, or 52 total per wire. I picked a couple, strands and slowly went through the entire strand with a razor. Appears to be solid copper, no aluminum clad as others have stated. Performance: Resistance seem correct and my speakers sound fine…. And yes I use good quality 12 AWG for my higher performance systems. But 16 AWG is fine for this application. Most people can’t hear the difference between a $2000 12 AWG cable and a $20 AWG cable. If you think you can fine, buy the $2000 cable. Bottom line, I’m happy with the purchase and I would order again if I need more. Some reviewers have said this isn’t legit Monoprice cable. I don’t know what they received but I believe the cable I received is the genuine article. View the pictures and judge for yourself! Happy listening!

Much better than standard speaker wire, with copper strands that don't lose transmission over longer distances. Pretty easy to strip the insulation for connection, decently flexible. Good value

I find zero need to buy expensive speaker wire. This is well made and in my opinion, is best connected with bare ends. If you swap gear out all the time, banana plugs might be more useful to you. Save yourself some money and use quality wire like this. Update 2/2/25: I also ordered a 50' run of the 12g version of this wire for a longer run. Just outstanding speaker wire.

Exactly as described. All copper wire with a stout but pliable coating. Couldn't be happier with my choice after looking at all of the Copper Coated Aluminum options. They've also managed to keep the price very reasonable. The difference in cost between this and any CCA is negligible. Also easy to separate, but won't continue to separate unless you give it a good tug.

True to its name, these wires are old school audio cables and a must have for any hi fi freak like me. I used them to connect my Denon PMA 520 with Q Acoustics 2020 speakers and I am quite happy with the results. Only thing that leaves me wanting is directional markings on the sleeve so that you can go ahead and connect the cable without having to experiment for the best sound quality.

It did what it needed to do. I used the Amazon basic's banana plugs and plugged them into the speakers. Worked great! Sounds great. All in all good cable for the job.

It oxides beautifully like fine wine after. I had this for 4 years. Bought 2021 now in the trash. Save your money.
