I originally bought a cheap set of 4 nut splitters for less than half the price of this item.They did not work because the design meant that the blade couldn't get close enough to the surface that the nut was against, resulting in only half the height of the nut being contacted and eventually the splitter slipped off the edge of the nut before splitting it.The straight design of these also made it difficult to turn with the spanner because there was no clearance to the surface the nut was against.This more expensive item seemed to be good on paper being kinked, thereby avoiding the spanner issue and having a wider blade closer to the edge.The reality is different however, it too suffers with the same problem of not being able to get close enough to the surface the nut is against so it also slips off the nut before splitting it.Both the cheap items and this have to be held with a second spanner to avoiding twisting it off the nut whilst applying (very considerable) torque to the actuating nut making the operation unwieldy and difficult.I would not recommend this tool because it is not capable of carrying out its prime objective even on small nuts.Disappointing!
