Very good appliance

I've had my machine for just over a year and for the second time, the handle on the carafe has cracked where it meets the pot. At £30ish a time for a replacement, it's time for me to ditch the machine, totally waste of money - style over substance. Another annoyance is that the lid on top of the machine doesn't open wide enough so it's almost impossible to pour the water accurately into the reservoir.

I bought it for the look - I love the retro Smeg style in my kitchen. As far as a coffee maker goes, it's just your average Joe, and I'm kinda disappointed! It's good points... adjustable water hardness, a timer for a morning coffee brew & at the touch of a button you can make a 4 cup brew (so no need to measure the water, just fill it up, put your preferred scoop amounts in and you're good to go). The bad points... it has a bright blue clock on it that cannot be dimmed, it merrily illuminates the entire kitchen at night - I live in an apartment so have to cover it up with a tea towel as my bedroom adjoins the kitchen. I can turn it off at the socket but then I must reset the clock daily or not be able to use the timer feature. You cannot keep the coffee warm! Ugh! - the hot plate only remains heated for 40 mins after brewing, after that it goes cold (quickly) and there's no option to keep it warm. So far, this is the biggest pain in the bootie - Usually you grab your coffee 5 to 10 mins after its brewed (and that's the purpose of its hot plate, only to allow you time to pour your coffee after its brewed).... but, if you want another coffee 30 to 40 mins after you've finished your first (nope, it's over now), if someone's in the shower and comes to join you (sorry buddy, I'm having my own coffee, yours is cold now!), or a visitor rocks up - you have to chuck away perfectly good (but cold) coffee in the pot and start all over again. I know fresh coffee is best, but I've had cheap machine's years ago that had a manual setting on the hot plate. It's the fact that if it just stayed heated another 15mins it would make a massive difference. 300 Bucks for the look, the machine is pretty average.

Bonjour Madame, Monsieur, J'ai acheté ce percolateur, de marque Smeg, il ne fonctionne plus. Le bouton "démarrage" ne s'allume plus, donc l'eau ne coule plus. Que pouvez-vous faire ? Merci , dans l'attente de vous lire. Béatrice Denis

Still trying it out, but the unit arrived with a European plug. I had to order an attachment/converter in order to use the coffeemaker. It is very slow brewing, which I see can be related to the grind of the coffee. I am still trying to find the right blend. Overall, it looks good, the coffee is good, but I’m still figuring out how to operate it and its functions.

Fonctionne a la perfection très beau style le prix abusé a voir avec le temps si la qualité est au rendez-vous
