The RodMounts Sumo Fishing Rod Carrier offers the ultimate in versatility and performance for transporting rods of all types, far exceeding anything else on the market. The Sumo can transport up to 6 rods of all types, allowing the rods to be staggered or offset so that the reels don't interfere with each. The Sumo MAGNETIC fly rod carrier features 4 independent magnet assemblies that generate 95 pounds of pull-force each and will adhere to any steel surface. Each magnet assembly features a silicone boot to prevent scratches to the paint. Recommended maximum speed is 45 mph.

The bungie design that holds the rods is so easy to release that .......
Travelling down the beach in 25+ mph winds I was worried about the magnet letting go. It didn't happen. I only mounted 4 rods, but did test to see if I could put 3 fly rods per side, and the answer is yes, if you stagger the reels. The bungie design that holds the rods is so easy to release that I was able to grab the rod I wanted and release it, fully assembled, with no effort. After a full weekend on the beach, the outer 1-1/4" split ring started rusting out. I've ordered replacement stainless steel rings, and don't see this as a "show stopper"

45 MPH LIMIT ON SUMO MAGNET ROD MOUNT
Worst product i ever bought. I got lucky when i went fishing and it didn't fly off my car at highway speeds (75 mph). Not so lucky on the way back home. Flew off at 50 mph along with my fishing rods and left a nice big scratch on the roof of my car. The box should have a 45mph warning on it. The box i received it in didnt come with instructions. And no where on the outside of the box did i read a 45mph limit when using the product. I called the rod mount company and thats when i found out that there was a 45mph limit on this product. Ordered july 2015 Destroyed by jeep behind me july 2015

Our guide had these so we had to have this carrier. We only use one since we have a truck. Serves it purpose and keeps piles from bouncing around.

Learned something new
My car has a fiberglass hood and front quarter panel.Just used the roof. Had to turn the rear carrier 90 degrees but wasn't an issue with this design. Handled a back road 70 mph with aplomb.

Do Not exceed 45mph!
Rod Mount worked well until it flew off my truck at 70 mph. When I read warrantee it states do not drive over 45mph. During purchasing to find this information you need to open another box. I was offered 50% off replacement parts (I suppose that is fair as I exceeded the 45 mph). Just know that they will not warrantee rack if you exceed 45 mph. The $2,000 damage to fly rods was not their problem.
