I bought this for my first trip to BangKok & it proved very useful. I wanted a small book to keep in my pocket & this was perfect. The small, pull-out, double sided map was just what I wanted - it only covers the centre of BKK but it was fine, We only had 2 days & nights in Bangkok & were keen to cram in as much as we could. This book definitely helped us have a fantastic time & get to where we wanted to go. I used it to plan before the trip as well as to check things when we were there. A fiver well spent. Review: Bangkok in your pocket. - Small and fits the pocket as advertised, it is comprehensive and includes a Bangkok street map. Just the ticket for exploreing this fantastic city. It covers each city region and also attractions, eating and sleeping. There are sections on getting arround etc. All that you would expect from a Lonely Planet city guide infact

A Bangkok Belter
Great guide and gives a superb insight into a big busy city. The time we had you can't do it all but this guide helped with the selections we made of what to see and do... Easy to follow and info on bars and restaurants easy to follow with map references... perfect and great size to pop in your pocket/bag

Not bad
This guide was fairly good in general, but the pull out map could be better and cover all the areas represented in one - however, each section has it's own map. Tried the Egyptian restaurant recommended in the Sukhumvit area - visually, quite an experience, but food was okay to bad/inedible - stick to the Egyptian dishes as the Thai food on offer was terrible. The suggested Day Planner is good - so in general a very handy pocket guide - especially if you are in Bangkok for the first time and only have a few days to take it in - and there's a lot to see/do.

The guide is structured on bangkoks sectors with mini maps that help a lot to find the suggested places, restaurants and pubs ecc. For every sector there is a suggested route for a day trip. I followed most of them an was very happy with it. Even the included big map of bangkok is very helpfull. The pocket size makes this guide to your best friend that will never let a home as it fits in nearly everywhere.

The Lonely Planet Pocket books are a must. Used them in several cities. They have quadranted maps to sections of the city that makes sightseeing easier. The brief but accurate writeups are perfect. The need to make more of these guides to more cities.

I thought that this book was pretty useful for those with limited time in Bangkok. I like the small size and the maps, which are good enough for the basic tourist.
