Walking Together: Building a Marriage in a Fallen World Paperback – August 15, 2000

We have used this book several times throughout the years for a Married couple study with 6-8 couples. We meet once a month for a full year. There are 12 chapters so we cover a chapter a month. It works out great because we can work on one specific area/chapter in our lives per month, for example, loving each other, honoring each other, contentment, etc. We did our first one 15 years ago and we’ve done it a few times since. You can do it on your own, but I suggest doing it alongside other couples for encouragement and to learn from each other. Each person needs their own copy; at the end of each chapter there are a few questions that need to be answered privately for you to reflect on with your spouse. As much as I hate homework that part of the study was the best. Writing out your thoughts after reading what scripture says is a great way to know how to honor God with our marriage. We both highly recommend this book.

I love everything I have read from Cynthia Heald! My husband and I did this study with three other couples over the span of 6 months. We individually read two chapters a month and then came together for discussion. My favorite thing about her studies is that it is all scripture centered. She gives a quick over view, provides excellent quotes, gives plenty of relevant scripture together, asks great questions to reflect on and to ask for spouse. I know all of our marriages grew after reading this book together! I highly recommend!

We actually did this as a pre-marital devotional with our officiant & his wife. It was great to really get my fiancé to talk about things he normally wouldn't and helped us to go straight to the Lord for the way our roles should be in marriage. Only 4 stars bc it can be redundant but still an extremely valued book. I will want to do the study again in a year or two, to review as husband & wife.

I have found the format set in this study is very helpful:1. They have opening synopsis2. Then separate questions for each partner3. Then questions they must answer together - discussing each of their personal questions4. Then wise words from an 'older' married couple - looking back on their marriage and what made it work5. All covered with a Biblical foundation

I bought this book for daily devotionals with my husband. Each chapter had a lot of reading and writing. It was a little more than what we needed at the time.
