Improves on the 360 controller
The first thing I noticed about this controller is that the bumper buttons are placed higher than on the 360 controller. Initially, I didn't like it. My fingers kept slipping off of them and I was accidentally throwing grenades at myself while cooking them behind cover on Ghosts. However, I've gotten used to it, and I have to say that this controller is even better than the 360 controller, which takes some doing. The battery pack doesn't jut out on the back like it does on the 360 controller, which is a good thing, in my opinion. The play and charge kit works well. Just slip off the battery cover, throw in the replaceable battery, and you're ready to go. The cable is micro-USB on the controller end and full-sized USB on the consoles end. I think the cable is six feet long, so you probably won't have to worry about the cable being too short. It doesn't have the quick release mechanism that the wired 360 and original Xbox controllers have, but I think that the cable would definitely pull out of the console should someone trip over the cable, so I have no concerns with my Xbox taking a dive.

Pretty much the best controller out there
We all know that the xbox 360's controller was very close to a perfect controller and it was universally liked and it was hard to improve on top of it but Microsoft still did it. They managed to create an even better version of their controller and this is my experience so far. Good: Trigger improvements: Microsoft included what they called `Impulse triggers" under the triggers for a very unique result while playing games such as Forza 5 Better D-Pad: The main complaint with the past controller was the squishy D-Pad it had which was not very precise and hard to press. All those bad things are gone with the new buttons. Analog sticks accuracy has improved considerably and their grippy texture feels amazing. You'll notice the difference especially if you have sweaty hands Battery life is impressive. I've yet to deplete the duracell included AA batteries after a more than 6-7 hours, which is the time it took my PS4 controller to die. The space to put the batteries in the back is not as prominent as the 360's controller reducing the bulkiness appearance. Even after your batteries die, you will be able to use the controller with a wired connection using the micro USB port. According to what I read, the Xbox uses the Kinect to know when you've put the controller down, to watch TV for example, and puts it in a state which consumes less power than usual. So-So: Analog sticks are smaller and you might like that and you might not depending on your hand size I guess. For me, I wouldn't mind them being a little bit bigger, but it's not really a bad thing, just wanted to mention it Bad: The bumpers have changed and I wouldn't say it's a deal breaker with this controller but if I had to say something bad about it, it's this. They are more difficult to press/click than the 360's version so depending on the game you're playing, if it has heavy use of the bumpers you might need some extra time to get used to them. It doesn't come with a rechargeable battery out of the box so you need to buy it separately (like in this item you're reading) but as I mentioned before you won't need to do this very often.

Exactly what I wanted.
I bought this as a second controller for my Xbox One. The controller that came with my Xbox One purchase has been fitted with a Play and Charge kit so I wanted another controller with that set up. Pros 1. Charging solution + controller in one package. Don't have to worry about buying both separately and it costs roughly the same either way. 2. The Xbox One controller is a fantastic controller. Comfy to hold, easy to use.. 3. Connecting to the Xbox One was easy (instructions included) 4. Charing cable works and plugs into any USB port. This could theoretically be used on computers as well as the Xbox One. 5. Officially licensed by Microsoft. That's always a pro when it comes to gaming accessories. Officially licensed by any company (sony, nintendo, etc) generally has higher quality than third party. Not always, but most of the time. 6. The cable is very long. Sufficient for most set ups. Cons 1. There really isn't much of a price break for buying the whole pacakage as opposed to separately. I think it's like $5 less (at least what I paid). As I understand from having this in my wishlist for 3 months, the product goes in and out of stock all the time so I guess that probably affects pricing. 2. The micro-USB port on top of the controller has always felt a little wobbly and flimsy to me. I've had my Xbox One for 6 months and my original controller hasn't broken and doesn't seem like it's going to, but it's a long-term concern of mine. Not much I can do about it. Overall, this is the controller package you want. Wireless, charging enabled, and officially licensed. About the only other charging solution I'd recommend is the Nyko charging dock. Between this and that, there aren't any other really good options for rechargeable batteries for Xbox One controllers (at the time of this review)

Steam Gamer, 5 stars when PC wireless is an option
MS has taken the time to research what makes a good controller. They've make lots of little adjustments to make this the best gamepad I've ever had. What's good: -PC Drivers (I don't own an Xbox One, I game via Steam). -The joysticks have been grooved, and their height has been adjusted slightly to make easier to control. -The d-pad is responsive and concise (you know for sure which direction you are pressing.) -Reminds me of the Gamecube controller (my previous favorite). -All the buttons have a nice mechanical click to them, this physical feedback is so important. -The overall shape and size of the controller just feels nice when gripped, great for long gaming sessions. Not so good: -No wireless receiver for PC yet, so if you are a Steam gamer like me, it means tethering yourself. When a wireless receiver for PC comes out I will give this controller 5 stars. UPDATE: After using this controller for 6+ weeks I am still happy, the controls remain crisp and responsive. So far it has worked with all the controller enabled PC games I've tried. It seems to be that if the game supports the xbox 360 controller, it supports the xbox one controller also. UPDATE: I recently got a Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter to go with this gamepad, I was pleasantly surprised that it works with Windows 10! It's awesome, I'm glad MS spent the time to make the accessory PC compatible.

A Great Controller for Long Time Gamings
So far, the controller is definitely in good quality. It was packaged excellently and so far, I have no issues in the first few days of usage. Obviously, it is good to note that it is the first few days, and customary of game controllers is that it will start to lose function and get buggy due to wear and tear and constant use. However, the lifetime on this controller is to be expected to last more than a year, maybe two if taken well care of through constant use. The quality of this controller can definitely be extended if there is no constant use. It is definitely to my benefit to buy this new because of the quality and acknowledging how gaming wear and tear can limit the long time quality of the controller. I highly suggest getting this new. Usual Xbox One controllers cost around the same price of this product($59.99) without a rechargeable battery. I feel strongly that this price is justified because not only are you getting some new and in very good quality, you are also saving more money in the long run as you will not have to go and buy AA batteries, which are cheap, but will eventually accrue a decent chunk of your spending in the span of a few months (however, this may not be true for everyone; this statment applies primarily to serious and constant gamers, but this still applies to saving a little money over time instead of spending money every now and then for something you already paid for). Overall, amazing purchase with a lot of long term saving in mind and is worth buying new. If you cannot, used should be just as fine, just make sure that it is good quality for you. At the end of the day, it is up to you to find the best controller for your habits and needs. This is a very good start if you are just starting out and wanting to get into hardcore gaming.

Great Bundle - Saves on Batteries and No New Equipment Required
BOTTOM LINE: I recommend this bundle for --- -- Anyone who plays or is married/dating someone who plays more than 4 hours a day; -- Anyone who wants to save HUNDREDS in replacement batteries; -- Those who want to avoid SPONTANEOUS FIRES or "overcharged" battery packs; -- Everyone who wants to use the headset they already have (instead of having to purchase a wireless adapter and wireless headset just because Microsoft and other companies want to be difficult by removing the headphone jack). It will save you enormous amounts of money on replacement batteries, will avoid the travesty and hazards of fire breaking out because of an "overcharged" battery, and lets you continue to use any equipment you still have such as headphones. My husband's favorite way to unwind is to play Halo, for hours upon hours, especially after a tough day, long day, kids are asleep, or any other reason that can be thought of (and I am certain I am not alone). However, his favorite past time was starting to cost us a small fortune considering that he was replacing batteries almost daily --- I tried the $1 store brand (which obviously lasted less than 10 hours as expected), Duracell, and Energizer, including the "Lithium", "Extra Special Lasting for-some-reason advertisement", etc. Nothing lasted longer than a playing period of 20 hours, give or take an hour. So, as I was well aware that my husband wouldn't cut down on his playing time, my only solution was to research battery packs, whether specially created by Microsoft, or other name brands that offered rechargeable batteries. I started my research and found that there are simply too many different brands and battery types to quickly find the right product for the right price not to mention the myriad of reviews that never seemed to quite align. My next step was to find a rechargeable battery pack specifically made for and marketed as XBox One Controller Battery Packs. I obviously was looking for a cost effective options so I started with the low to mid-range priced items; I found, however, that every single brand offering such a product that was not Microsoft itself had review after review of customers saying that the battery pack overheated due to overcharging and either sparked, started a fire, or simply burned the battery to the point of no return. I had 2 kids at home and a husband that is not too great at being on top of things like double checking to ensure that the second the battery pack has been charged fully, it is taken off the charger. Finally, I decided that I really had no option except to use a Microsoft Battery Pack. This actually worked out remarkably in my favor and here is why: - This bundle included a NEW XBox One Controller, Rechargeable Battery Pack, and Charging Cord. - The battery pack can be charged WHILE it is being used via the XBox One itself or can be charged via any USB port when the controller is not in use. - Unlike many bundle packs that I found online, this controller INCLUDED the 3mm Headphone Jack --- to my surprise, most of the bundles ONLY include a controller that requires additional equipment, i.e. an adapter for wireless headset and a wireless headset (both of which are exponentially more expensive than the standard headsets that simply plug in to the controller itself).

Nice changes that take about 5 minutes to get used to
The modifications to this controller are pretty nice. I've never played the PS4, so I only have the xbox 360 to really compare it to. With that said, the changes feel a little weird at first. The buttons and thumbsticks feel like they were all shifted about 1/4 - 1/2" inward and the bumpers are a little weird feeling when you first try them out. Additionally, the thumbsticks are made of a harder rubber, so wear and tear might be less of a problem in the long run for the controller, but it will take a few gaming marathons to determine how it will impact your thumb comfort. With that said, after about five minutes of playing a game with this controller you'll have forgotten that you just got it (if you are used to the 360 controller). It's pretty nice and the changes grow on you. The rumble effect was awesome. I used this controller with Forza 5, NBA 2k14, Lego Marvel Superheroes, and COD Ghosts (latter two do not use the rumble to its full potential). All of the games were a lot of fun and the learning curve for the controller was nearly non-existent. My roommate purchased two controllers and will be using rechargeable batteries with them versus the "play and charge kit" that you can pay an additional $15-25 for. I have purchased the play and charge kit because I don't want to deal with having to replace batteries/pull them out whenever they need charging. I will update this review once we've been using them for a bit to see if the lifespan of the batteries is comparable. As is, the play and charge kit batteries basically looks like two rechargeable batteries that are in a plastic casing.

Holds a charge a long time when not intensively gaming. Great job!
What a redesign! The xboxone controllers are fantastic. Having hated every other xbox controller, including the 360, I highly suggest people give this a chance. The play and charge kit works well, and as expected. I would actually say the charge lasts longer than one would expect. As I haven't had much gaming time lately it has lasted well over a month and a half without charging, though the indicator says it should be needed to be charged soon. Nice to know it won't drain when not being used as quickly as my old ps3 controllers used to.

Genuine Product
For those who wants to know the version this is the updated version of the XB1 controller which has 3.5 mm audio port. The controller & battery was good in shape and works as it should be. Got it as the estimated delivery day. A big thanks to AMAZON & the SELLER.

Very convenient!
Bought this to use as my main controller. It is typical Microsoft quality. Excellent! The controller feels nice in the hand and I love the black finish. I am mostly impressed with the play and charge kit however. I no longer have to stop in the middle of a game to change batteries. I get a notification that my batteries are running low and all I have to do is plug the controller itself into a cell phone charger and continue playing. The battery pack run time is excellent as well. Absolutely no complaints.
