Great tool
****Update 1/2/2013****I have used this impact gun a great deal since my last review, and this gun is still holding strong. I recommend you purchase the IR air tool oil. I did buy the protective boot for my gun, its red and takes regular abuse (gun occassionally gets tossed to the side un-intentionally while I'm working) and my impact gun is still looking great!I use this gun for A LOT of different things, most recently: Busting off the bed nuts on my GMC project truck (nuts were rusted), leaf spring removal, front suspension A-Arms, Honda suspension rebuild: McPherson strut removal, sway bar, hub-bearing removal and install (this was so sweet, i bought the bearing kit on Amazon as well), I can go on and on. You wont be disappointed with this gun, for the price and performance, you cannot beat it.Note: I grew up fixing cars with my dad, so a word of advice from someone who has been doing this a while: Don't skimp and use your regular sockets with ANY impact gun. Spend the money on real impact sockets and use impact grade U-joints and extensions. Regular sockets WILL crack because of their thin-wall design and are simply not up to the task of taking abuse from an impact gun. You cannot put a price on your safety, and ER visits because a shard of shattered socket flew in there should not be in your plans.I still stick with my opinion that if you choose an impact gun, make sure it is serviceable (can be opened up and you can purchase a rebuild kit for it) this alone will ensure your gun will be around for years and years to come. A lot of the other guns i shopped for were of a sealed/riveted design, and wont allow servicing should you need it.****I highly recommend this gun to others.****Gentlemen,I recently purchased this impact gun, which would be my first. I must say that i love the power. I use it for tire rotation, brake jobs, crank pulley bolt removal, etc. The torque is great; I can't even turn lug nuts any further than this tool can by hand. The power selector knob is great for varying power to the socket. I bought the IR 14pc socket set (metric), which by the way, are beautiful! too bad the finish gets messed up as you use them.I chose this gun over a Craftsman impact, the particular one could not be rebuilt with a kit like this one can. Beutiful aluminum finish on the body, I think I will buy a protective boot for it.

Great Product
I am replacing a Ingersoll 231 that was purchased in 1984 and pulled daily Professional shop duty flawlessly. Due to its outstanding life and Performance, I decided to buy one again when it finally gave up in 2024. This new one acts Identical to its predecessor. Super strong, and nothing more than a workhorse. It has enough power to break loose stubborn nuts and bolts. You will experience the raw brute power of this moose on the first pull of the trigger. Take care of it, oil regularly, and it should give you decades of service.May I suggest Marvel Air Tool Oil. I have used it since 1984, and it has kept my air tools in top running condition.

Quality
I used it twice to rotate tires. Not a hint of inability to loosen some shop torqued lug nuts. Quality built for sure.

Great product
I have wasted untold hours trying to get a usable impact wrench from Lowes, Home Depot and Harbor Freight. I have spent up to 150 dollars on pieces of junk that won't take off a lug nut torqued to 80 foot lbs and some were even defective out of the box. Well I finally checked Amazon and here is an Ingersoll-Rand for the price I have been paying for store brand garbage. Yeah its Chinese made but so is any impact wrench under 250 dollars. The difference here is it's well made and works. Chinese doesn't always mean junk, all your Apple products including the MacBook I'm typing this on are made in China. The difference is design and quality control and this Ingersoll-Rand product has it. It is simply better made and better performing than any of the cheap store brand models I tried in this price range. So out of the box I just screwed on an air fitting, put two drops of air tool oil in the gun and walked right out and took the lug nuts off my wife's car without having to break them first by hand like I did with all the other wrenches. Just two pounds of the wrenches hammer with it on a middle setting and off they came. Put the wheel back on with the wrench setting on 0 then work up to the 2 setting where the lugs were just shy of 80 ft-lbs which is where I usually finish them off with a torque wrench by hand. This was on a 15 gallon compressor set at 90 lbs. Be careful with the settings going on - this wrench felt like it was hardly working set on two and it got up to 75-80 ft-lbs. I can't imagine where the torque would have been at the highest setting. So to sum it up a great product at a great price!
