I am absolutely in love with these meals. I’ve tried about four so far, and every one has been delicious and as good as at a restaurant. They’re the perfect portion size and a great way to add variety and spice (not too spicy) to a meal plan without the cost of Indian takeout. At under $5 per meal compared to around $20 for takeout, they’re an incredible value. The pouch is microwavable, and you can even eat directly from it, which makes them super convenient. My only minor downside is that some varieties contain a small amount of seed oil, but since I avoid seed oils elsewhere in my diet, it’s not a big concern for me. Overall, the convenience, taste, and value far outweigh that small negative.

I can't say enough how much I really love Maya Kaimal's Everyday Dal! All the flavors are excellent and the ingredients are really top notch--nothing that's not real organic food! I feel so healthy and satisfied every time I eat this and it really is so delicious. I had tried these for the first time when they were on sale at my local supermarket and I just had to get more! I wouldn't complain if they were a little cheaper, but for the quality of the product, I'm willing to pay this much. As some reviewers mentioned, the consistency of the food varies from pouch to pouch--sometimes they're thinner or thicker--but I really don't think it affects the flavor and I still enjoy it. I think it just goes to show how natural the food is and the packets really give some good explanation about the product. They don't offer this as a cooking suggestion on the packet, but I just empty the contents onto a small frying pan and heat it up that way--I find that's the easiest way for me and it works great. I can easily eat one whole packet in one meal if I'm not eating much else as part of the meal, but unless you're not a big eater, you probably need to eat something else with it to feel full. There are 5 different flavors and the variety pack includes one of each plus an extra "Red Lentil, Butternut Squash, & Coconut", which is one of my favorite ones (you don't really taste the coconut if that's a flavor you don't like). My only complaint about this product is that it comes with so much packaging!! I'm not sure if this is actually something within the company's control or just an Amazon thing, but it's so wasteful and it makes me feel less good about this awesome product! I mean, the first time it got delivered, I felt like they were in a bunch of Russian nesting doll boxes because there was just box after box! The second time, it came in an unnecessarily huge box, which had another box in it containing the food. Very wasteful, in my opinion. All in all, I 100% recommend this product and think more stores should carry this!

First, the nutritional information says this 10-oz packet is two servings. My preference (with most of these types of dishes) is to put it over rice, and it lasts for about four servings. Some of the flavors in this variety pack I really liked; some not so much. * ✅ Black Lentil, Tomato, & Cumin. I found this flavor pretty tasty and would order it again. * ✅ Red Lentil, Butternut Squash, & Coconut. I found this flavor surprisingly tasty. I'm not usually fond of squash in soups and other dishes, but this combination was quite enjoyable; I would order it again. * ❌ Green Garbanzo, Corn, and Coriander. This may be my least favorite. I like each of the ingredients, but not crazy about them together in this dish. The corn threw me off a bit, both for texture and for the sweetness it brings (I'm not usually fond of sweet in savory dishes). I mixed in some garlic chile paste and made it through, but I don't plan to buy this flavor again (unless I end up with another variety pack and this is my sacrifice). * ❓ Green Split Pea, Spinach, & Coconut. I like the individual ingredients, especially the coconut and spinach, but this overall flavor (and texture?) didn't really do it for me. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't a favorite, and I probably wouldn't order this flavor on its own. * ❌ Kidney Bean, Carrot, and Tamarind. I wasn't sure what to expect with this combination of flavors/ingredients. What I found was that the flavor was quite strong and in-your-face (but not spicy), and didn't find the overall effect particularly enjoyable. I would not be likely to order this flavor again.

I am in love with this stuff. I found it in the local grocery store and have been buying it but I always ran out too fast. I have not been able to eat very well because. This is not just making my stomach and taste buds happy, but is organic and actually good for me. I do end up eating the whole package for a meal, but the calories are still within reason. I'm afraid I wasn't paying too much attention to the cost from the supermarket, as it ticked all the boxes. Buying them 6 at a time like this has made them actually affordable

Excellent, healthy and hearty food that fulfills the requirements for my dietary restrictions (vegan, gluten free.) I got these, paired with somos cilantro lime rice pouches, for my homemade MREs for camping/hiking and emergency use and they performed very well. I had them in storage for over a year and they were still good with no signs of going bad or any rancidity, surprisingly shelf stable. They are tasty enough to not need more seasonings from the user and the portion sizes are quite acceptable for people eating 3 meals a day, provided they are paired with a carb like rice. I would love if this company branched out to other cuisines like Italian, mexican etc and also branched out to things like rice or mashed potato pouches as well.

Fantastic tasting food!!

I have to say right off the bat, the flavors of these dals are amazing! The Split Pea, Spinach, Coconut variety, in particular, is by far my favorite Indian from a pouch dish out of all the brands and styles I've tried. It's super rich and complex, seasoned nicely, and very well balanced. After picking a couple of these up from my local store I knew I could mow through a 6-pack pretty easily. *As I edit this review to add photos, I really want to emphasize that this Dal is delicious, and I will DEFINITELY be buying more of it, just from a retailer where I can feel the pouch to assess the viscosity before purchase.* Unfortunately, as others have mentioned here, product consistency is a major issue and is extremely obvious when handling multiple pouches. Just feeling the pouches before I open them, it seems like some are full of thick delicious dal, while others are seemingly almost entirely liquid. There is even about a .5 oz swing in weight between the thick and thin pouches. To make matters worse, my factory sealed "6-pack" contained only 5 pouches!!! I'm sure this company is using a co-packer, and based on my experience and the other reviews here it's definitely time for them to start looking for a replacement. Overall this product is pretty amazing and I will definitely be buying more of it, but I will definitely NOT be buying more of it online. It seems worth even a couple dollars more to be able to feel the pouch in-store to ensure you're getting a good one. It's hard to feel good about this review since I am reviewing both the packaging and the contents... This would be an easy 5-star for the delicious recipe, but the inconsistent packaging is really dragging it down. I really hope this company figures out their packing issues, and when they do, I'm sure they will rule this category!

I found this soup at my health food store and absolutely loved it. I live two hours away from it, so I went on a search to find it and have it shipped and I’m soooo happy that I was able to get it. It’s so good that I have others at work buying it now. 😁 The taste is superb with so many flavors hitting the pallet all at once in a beautiful way. The thickness is just the right consistency with it not being too thick or thin. Don’t hesitate on this !
