New Phone for an Old Wall Mount!!!
I ordered this phone for my grandparents. They needed a new wall phone to replace the old one that has been in place for 40 years. This phone worked perfect for them, they were able to put it directly onto the existing wall plug-in plate! Glad I was able to find them a phone that plugged directly into the plate - it's not one of those that has the small cord. The ringer is loud, but they are able to hear it all over the house. Since they are older they don't mind the loud ringer - they did, however, turn the ringer off on their other phones so that they don't have surround sound ringing!

Louder than a fire alarm at a convalescent home
If you are hard of hearing, I SAID IF YOU CAN'T HEAR TOO GOOD, this phone will meet you halfway. Here's the deal: First of all, this phone's ringer is ungodly loud. I'm not sure how else to say it. If I were running a retirement home, though, I would install this phone's ringer as the fire alarm. That's the best way I can think of to make sure no one would fail to evacuate in case of fire. So holy hell, it's loud, okay? Second of all, this phone needs to go on a wall. It's wall-mount only, and you need to have a wall-mounting phone jack for it to work. Otherwise it won't work. That's how it works. Finally, it doesn't have caller-ID. It doesn't really have anything, actually - just a few buttons and a cord attached to a receiver. It's like the old days. Like when Sheena Easton would come on the radio on Saturday morning while you were cleaning the bathroom and all you could think about was how many meanings "strut" might have, given the context, and suddenly this phone would ring and you'd freak out and run to pick it up, hoping against hope that it was that girl Tara from the pool, but then your boogery sister got there first and answered in the boogeriest way ever and even if it was Tara calling, your chances with her were ruined now and your sister didn't even care and by the time you got back to the bathroom, the dog was drinking Comet water from the toilet bowl and the radio was playing some stupid Rick Springfield song and from then on, that song would always remind you of the smell in the emergency room at the animal hospital. Best. Phone. Ever.

Nice phone but no volume control
It works fine and installs easily but you can't lower the ring level it's just one loud volume, other than that no complaints.

No Ringer Volume Control
Its a goodl phone, but very old school. the ringer is an actual bell, which is loud and kind of harsh. We fouund it quite startling and it sent our dog into a barking fit whenver it rang. It cannot be shut off. There is a standard volume control for the handset, which is fine. I ended up disaasembling the phone and removing the bell, since we have other phones in the house to alert us.

... screen porch and the sound and quality are just fine. A little lighter than 1950's wall phones
Agree with other reviewers that this phone might wake the dead - but I can hear it on the screen porch and the sound and quality are just fine. A little lighter than 1950's wall phones, but looks great and works in a retro environment. Mine installed easily with the attached plug and slipped right onto the lugs on my DSL filter wall plate. Took about 2 minutes to unpack and have a dial tone. Nothing additional was needed.

Perfect phone for Seniors and great retro style
Perfect for my Mom at her assisted living. The old fashined/retro wall phone allows her easy access from her favorite chair. Also the design is clean and simple. No buttons she might push during a conversation. And best yet, I think she feels much more comfortable with the familiar feel she had earlier in her life.

Rings to wake the dead, not right for me!
This phone was supposed to have an adjustable ringer. It does not. The ringer is one tone only, and loud enough to wake the dead.I cannot use this phone because of the ringer. The company that sold it was less than caring when I called them about the problem. The woman said I needed to phone the manufacturer in Mississippi and/or ask Amazon for a refund. She seemed disinterested in making sure that I was satisfied with the purchase. The manufacturer was pleasant, yet unable to help me. he said it sounded to him like the vendor misrepresented the product. It sounds that way to me, too. Meanwhile, I paid $30+ for a phone thatI cannot use.

but that's good in a way since you can hear it all ...
The ringer is indeed loud and a bit startling, but that's good in a way since you can hear it all over the house. The phone fit right into my kitchen wall with no wiring needed, which was great. The phone was more of a pinkish ash color, but attractive. It's very hard to find these old wall phones so I was happy that Amazon offered this one. The phone works great and I am happy with it.
