You get what you pay for
When I opened the box there were 3 mercedes remote cases encased in genuine mercedes packages. The only thing weird. the packages were labeled "GEBER SENDER UNIT.OIL LEVEL / PAN TRANSMITTER TRANSISTOR". On the outside of the package was taped a bar code and the words below of "New 4 buttons mercedes-be...L CLK SLK No Chips Inside". It looked just like the key fob I had. I set to soapping out the internals. i went on line to find out how - there was one video on youtube titled "mercedes keyless chell change - distructive method" I watched this poor guy gracking parts off the old case then going back to the first place the cracked off a piece of the case and easily slipped out the circuit board.I followed the instructions and removed the spare key then the battery. I then tried to remove the circuit board without distructing the case. I finally followed the video - to a point - I cracked off the only piece that appeared necessary to get the corcuit board out and was able to easly get it out as instructed - without all the other pieces that the guy in the video restled with.I slid the circuit board in the new case and then slid in the battery - the whole process was quite easy. Then I tested it - the buttons were MUCH stiffer than the origional unit really hard to push. I then looked at the other two cases I had purchased and found that the individual buttons on each varied in stiffness - I selected the one that the two buttons I use the most were the least stiff of the three sacrificing the fact the trunk button on this case was REALLY stiff. I hope the buttons will become less stiff over time. Then I set the unit down on the table and the chrome mercedes emblem on the back fell off onto the floor. I tried to put it back on and found that it would come off easily - I'll need to super glue it in. This made me curious however and I decided to look at the origional case and emblem The details of the origional star and the manufacturing details looked like typical mercedes quality. The star and the opening for the star on the replecement fob were decidedly less so.So - either Mercedes has lowered their quality on their stars and the button ease of use and consistency or the plastic package they came in was the only genuine mercedes items in the shipment - remember what the bags said on them? This is not an oil lever sender unit as packaged. I would have willingly paid more to get less stiff buttons and staf that doesnt fall off.

Works like a Champ! Saved me $230.00 on a new one!! (I paid $20)
This item worked GREAT as a replacement for my 2002 C32 AMG Mercedes Benz key fob. I was a little bit dismayed that it was going to cost me $250 for a new one, as the dealer will NOT program a new one for you if you order it online. This was a great solution because it uses your existing "guts" and just replaces the outside part. The installation was simple, but will require a bit of patience and a little ingenuity.Getting the old card out unscathed is a little challenging, but I used a small metal hook (actually a travel size tooth picking tool) to get through the little holes on the end of the card and GENTLY pulled it out. After a little bit of working it back and forth I was able to remove the piece completely intact. I was impressed because I usually end up breaking stuff like this when I try to work on it. I figured I had nothing to lose, however, as my original one was pretty messed up and all cracked. The only issue that I have with this remote is that the "Panic" word has already scraped off, but I don't believe that is any different than the original in that respect. It's a big red button, if I can't figure that out in a panic, then I shouldn't be using it. Everything else about this product worked perfectly. I would have given it 4.5 stars because of the panic button wearing off so quickly, but again it is just like the original in that respect. The buttons are a little more stiff than the original, but I think that will change over time.I would LOVE to see a version with the back part, since you have to use the original and I do have another remote where the back is cracked a little, but perhaps this is something they can work on in the future? Keep that in mind, seller. :-D

Good, battery compartment locking is different
Overall: This item worked out as a new cover for 2003 Mercedes C240 key. Three stars because the battery compartment inside the key can slide out unless you set its locking mechanism manually. This is due to a difference in the design of the molded plastic.Pros: I was able to remove the battery and electronic board from the old key without issue. I recommend using some small needle-nose pliers. The board and the battery compartment fit no problem. Tested and worked without issue.Cons: When you slide in the battery compartment, it doesn't lock on its own against the cover. This is because the design of the plastic cover where the lock holds against is different. So if you don't lock it, imagine driving and then parking, then when you pull it out after being in the ignition, you will pull out the battery compartment and the batteries will go flying out. This happened to me a couple times. This design will require you to manually slide the locking mechanism on the battery compartment over to the locking position using a small tool / paperclip, etc

cheap replacement works well
The key comes in a fake mercedes "Made in Germany" label for an oil sensor. Obviously, its made in China and the plastic isnt as good as the original OEM key. The mercedes logo on the back sticks out a bit more than the original key. The buttons are harder and require you to push in a little more than the original key. The panic button is darker red than the original key with white painted letters that will come off easily. The lock, unlock, and truck button on my original key for my 2002 mercedes s500 started to crack. I just took the circuit board out of the original key and slide everything back into this replacement key. Works great. Better than spending $300 at the dealer to get a new key. If your old key buttons are cracked, I suggest buying this than a new key at the dealer.

Good plastic model not usable
Would not recommended as it is just a hard plastic shell, the push buttons are not 'pressable' unlike the original remote.
