Good quality light, just not as bright as I thought it would be.
I wasn't really thinking when I ordered my desk lamp that I use for an aquarium light for my small betta tank at work. It is touch activated, you touch the power button to turn it off/on or adjust the brightness. Well, unfortunately, this does not work with my timer. The timer can turn the light off, but it cannot turn it on, so I needed a small waterproof light to hook up to the timer so that when I am not here over the weekend, my poor fish doesn't sit here in the dark the whole time. So I ordered this light and planned on taking home my desk lamp to use on another tank at home.Well, now the lamp is staying because while this light does work nicely, it does not light up the tank as much as I thought it would, and I do have plants. Granted they are low light plants and will probably be fine, I would just like the tank a bit brighter. I also have a few floating plants so light from above really makes them look stunning. I went ahead and set this one up on the timer, however, so that no matter what (if I am sick, come in to work late, have to take off for whatever reason) my fish will at least have a light that comes on and goes off at the same time every single day. I set my desk lamp back up and can turn it on when I get here, and turn it off when I leave. In a way, I think this will sort of give him a sunrise/sunset type light schedule, except for the weekend. Every weekend for him will be like an overcast day lol. But at least he isn't sitting in the dark!!The light does have a cool tone to it tho, it's very pleasing to look at, just not as bright as I wanted it to be. The description did say it would be great for night time viewing, but I assumed since I had such a small tank this would be sufficient for daytime viewing, and it is to an extent. Since that was my mistake, I can't really see fit to subtract any stars from the rating, but be aware if you're buying this for daytime light - IT'S NOT THAT BRIGHT! This would be absolutely perfect for a night light in a larger aquarium! It seems well made, the suction cups are amazing. We shall see how it lasts for me, but so far so good!I have attached a picture (which really does not do the difference justice) of the MingDak light only on, and the MingDak + my desk lamp on at the same time. It gives you a bit of a comparison to how the two light tones compare, thee MingDak light makes everything have a blueish tone and the other light really makes the colors pop.

Great product
I have had these lights for about 1 to 2 years. They are still going strong. With time the sections are going to come off , but if you boil them for a few minutes they can be reapplied. This light had world wonders for my smaller tanks.

I can’t get enough of these.
I keep ordering more. They are perfect for me. I have 31 tanks and expanding. I’m putting these in all of my new tanks. I have them in a dozen 10 gallon tanks, a couple of 20 gallon longs, and six 40 gallon breeder tanks. I even put four of them in my 55 long. In the 75 gallon long it wasn’t good at all.Illuminating one side of the 10 gallons makes a cool looking shading. Its not directly over the tank so the light hits everything at an angle. Cool shadows, I think anyway. It’s plenty bright enough for that size tank. Even plants will grow that close to the light. They are not bright lights, but they are sufficient enough to Illuminate the tank. Anything larger than 20 gallons I put more than one in. I put them on all edges of the tank. Lighting the front, back, and sides. On my 55 gallon long I used two on the back, two on the front, and one on each side. I think it’s so cool to see it all evenly lit with nothing hanging above the tank. I slid them all the way to the top so that you can’t see where the light is coming from. It’s really nice to see the tank fully illuminated that way. It’s a soft, light, with a calming brightness, like you might expect at a display case in a fish showcase. It’s not daylight bright, it’s more like a sunrise at dawn, right before shadows are beings cast.I’ve bought a lot of them, and with all of these purchases, I’ve had no failures. The suction cups are strong. I have no problems with them staying in place.

Easy to install and sturdy; brightness so-so--Algae problem!
It does not make sense to me but this light seems to produce a lot of algae. I saw this in other reviews, but since I did not see a reason one light should grow more algae than others, I ignored. But right now--there are strings of algae actually growing the full length of the light. This is an amended review and rating, down to a 3. The light is well made and easy to use, but I am taking it out due to excessive algae. I have it on the front top of the tank, attached to the glass at the water line, and that wall near the light is also covered with algae which comes back shortly after cleaning. Why? I don't know, but you should consider this. Maybe it would for some reason work better on the hood. This seems very sturdy so far and it was very easy to install, only a couple of minutes. The design allows you to adjust the angle of the lights to some extent, I have it on the front top of aquarium--you can still see the suction cups, and I guess you can put in the back but you will not want to see these lights! While illumination in the aquarium is less than I would like, they are bright when you look right at them. This has a nice long cord, as well as the connector that goes with it also. I bought a different light that was warm white--and those lights themselves were way superior--which did not come with a cord, is not encased in a glass tube like this one (a nice feature), but more importantly had connectors that were too short and mean that they connect with the power cord too close to the water. So if you are ordering a light like this pay attention to the length of what is called the connector--the piece that is connected to the fixture that connects to the power cord. Only issue with this one is wish it was warm white instead of cool, and wish it was brighter. I am not sure how some plants would do with only this light--I am finding a way to work with the original one I got and keeping them both. But for just a simple aquarium set up this is a good light for the money and very easy to use. Cannot comment on waterproof quality or suction cup--we'll see about those.

Bright light, but not great for plants
I bought this light to replace the dinky light that came with my 5g tank hood. It definitely makes the tank brighter, and the suction cups are pretty good (one comes loose once in a while, but not often enough for it to be a bother). However, it hasn't been great for the live plants I have in there. They're by no means dead, but I planted the same species of crypt in the tank with this light and then my fluval spec v with its stock light, and the difference is substantial: the crypts in the tank with this light are tiny and stretched, whereas they are huge, full, and spreading in the fluval.

Really great product
Really nice products. Totally waterproof as promised and decently bright. Gave brightness 4 stars because it wasn't as bright as others but this one doesn't scare the heck out of my fish when it turns on so I guess the fish disagree with me. Had some issues getting the suction cups to stick but they do float and I eventually got them to stick after several tries. Would purchase again.

Only lasted 6 months
This product worked fine for 6 months and now it doesn't work at all. I read LED's are supposed to last years. Not this one. We only used it for about 4 hours a day. Very poor quality and wouldn't buy this brand ever again.

Mostly good
It's a good little lamp, but the suction cups aren't the best. Still good though. I glued the suction cups to the top of my fish tank and it worked just fine.
