First, about me and my particular need….and nose! I have a substantial but not huge nose and as I get older I note that my right nostril tends to collapse with hard breaths in. I also tend to be a bit “snotty”…hey, a bit personal but let’s get real here…we are talking about stuffing things up our noses. It began when my wife tried the external springy sticky strips that go over the bridge of the nose and pulls the nostrils open from the outside. She has a deviated septum and thus one dud nostril like me. We both snore some, but it’s not a big problem for us. For her it was to breathe better and get a good night’s sleep. It works for her and she bugged me to try one. OMG! That first rush of cool air up my nostril was almost intoxicating and leads me to think that perhaps I have been suffering from oxygen deprivation for most of my life. Running or even brisk walking has always had me breathing through my mouth. I soon found that the sticky spring strips were not “IT” for me. I have oily Mediterranean type skin and they just don’t stay stuck for more than a few hours. I still use them for sleep at night, because they allow me to effectively blow my nose without removal. It is a hassle, though, to scrub my nose without alcohol on a gauze pad before applying them. By morning they are half unstuck and look awful. No way I’m going out and about like that! My quest then became to find something that would augment my oxygen supply during the day without folks looking at me funny. I tried several internal clip types from Amazon. The typical idea is that you have a “U”shaped plastic clip with some variation on a paddle shape on the two ends of the “U” shape. The paddles go up your nose, and the clip wants to spring open and it pushes your nostrils wider from the inside. The wearer is (unfortunately) left with the bottom of the “U” shape connecting the two nostrils and looking like a little nose ring! One of my priorities here was to find one that minimized that aspect. I eventually tried a design that had not just paddles, but rings on the ends. These rings even have tiny ratchet “buckles” on them which allows diameter adjustment for each nostril. At first blush that arrangement seemed like a lot of “stuff” to shove up my nose, To my surprise it worked better and is more comfortable to wear than any of the “paddle” types. I did some research to find out if these things would work for wear during the day. Turns out MUTE makes a model for athletes who must breathe “explosively”. It’s called the “TURBINE” model. Sounded manly, and as a 77 year old who walks the dog morning and night, clearly that was the one for me! But NOOOOOO! Turned out that the Turbine model is very hard and stiff plastic and has little barbs on it to help keep in your nose. I found it very uncomfortable…and for some reason it is school bus yellow! So much for unobtrusive! The adjustable buckle ring design, however works really well for me and allows me to increase the diameter of the ring for extra air flow in that left nostril. Facing the fact that I am not an “explosively breathing athlete” I backed down to the MUTE base model. YESSS! Perfect. It is made from softer almost clear plastic, has no painful barbs and reduces the “nose ring effect” to a minimum. I can live with this, and I no longer have to breathe through my mouth when I walk the dog. One more pleasant surprise. The MUTE clips are advertised as being good for 10 uses. Not so for me, my first one is almost a month old, used daily and still working like new. And just one more maybe TMI thing. As mentioned I can be a bit snotty. At times I just have to blow my nose. I have learned to find a discrete spot, pull the MUTE out, blow, and pop the MUTE back in quite handily. Mute comes in 3 sizes. I bought the sample pack to see what size would work optimally for me and have tried to use them for several nights. The medium is a bit small and the large is way too big. The Mute however claims to have an adjustable feature allowing you to adjust it to get a better fit and hence a better experience. "Mute’s independent dilation system (adjustable paddles) allows snorers to counteract any asymmetry by personalising the fit of Mute for maximum airway dilation and comfort (from the FAQ found on web page)". "To achieve optimal fit, you may need to expand or contract the paddles by gently pulling or pushing the paddles with your fingers which will activate the ratchet mechanism. (from instructions)". Unfortunately, the unit I received didn't work as advertised. I adjusted the paddles per instructions to get the fit just right, I needed the medium sized device to be a big larger in both nostrils and then inserted it into my nose. Within seconds the right side didn't stay open while the left side did allowing me to breathe freely out of the left side of my nose but not my right. I removed the device several times to re-adjust it only to see that the ratchet system wasn't holding at all and even the slightest pressure on the paddle caused it to close down to it's minimal size. I submitted a close-up photo so you can see what I am talking about for those of you who might not understand why this is an issue. Now, if this was a U.S. based company or perhaps one that cared about it's customers, there would be a toll free customer service number printed right on the box or on the instruction sheet or on their website but they don't want to hear from you if you have a problem with their product. Ever notice how virtually every other manufacturer of health related products from band-aids to vitamins, toothbrushes even antiperspirants have a phone number for you to call with questions or comments but not these folks! So I'm stuck with a defective product that doesn't work as advertised, which may in fact be due to poor design or manufacturing but as I have no way of contacting the company I'll never know. If you do not need to use their patented "independent dilation system (adjustable paddles)" then this product may work well for you and if not I would suggest that you look elsewhere. Make sure you have a way to communicate with the manufacturer or distributor if you have any questions or problems, usually a sign of a business that genuinely cares about it's customers and their satisfaction rather than just moving product. If you read my other reviews you will find that I am usually very satisfied with the products I have rated.

These dilators are unique from several others on the market in that they offer an adjustable diameter and are designed to achieve more dilation relative to amount of plastic as compared to more straw-like diameters. These features are what drew me to these dilators. For context, I have struggled with nasal inflammation and a deviated septum all my life. I had a septorhinoplasty with inferior turbinate reduction about two years ago. It helped, but my nasal passages are still quite narrow due to turbinate hypertrophy. I practice excellent allergy and sinus hygiene with limited results and am drawn to dilators for that reason. Pros: -These feel solid and durable overall. -The diameter adjustment feels surprisingly solid and stable, so props to the manufacturer for pulling that off. Cons: -The big one is sizing! The height and diameter *both* increase from small to large. This isn't a big deal in theory, but as someone with a long, narrow nose, it's a major dealbreaker. After having fiddled with these for about 30 minutes, it seems like I need the diameter of the small size. The medium and large are too wide to fit properly in my nostrils without turning sideways and causing more obstruction and discomfort. However, the small does not go deep enough in order to dilate where dilation is needed - between my septum and inferior turbinates. I suspect that narrowing in this area is the main reason many of us are drawn to dilators. But, again, once I go up to the medium or large to achieve appropriate depth, the diameter is, again, much too large. My advice on this point overall is that the closer you are to having a square shaped nose, the better. I doubt that the diameter and depth of one's nasal passages are closely related enough for these sizes to be appropriate for many. These dilators are best suited for those with pretty clear nasal passages whose nostrils are prone to closing more superficially rather than those who need dilation anywhere above that. -I found the ridges to be somewhat painful, but this could have been related to having a poor fit with all three sizes and fiddling with them constantly.

These definitely help with breathing more at night through my nose as well as does cut back my snoring. Least the woman tells me! My only complaint is I have no idea how but I have had nights where I wake up and this product has came out of my nose. I use the large size an it fits snug so I don't really know how it comes out sometimes. Not often but it does. Its not uncomfortable if you insert it properly an take the time to adjust it. I can tell immediately that I can breathe better after its I'm place. at least 20-25% better and that's a lot if you think about it let alone experience it. (IF YOU SUFFER FROM MIGRAINES READ THE FOLLOWING) I'm going to take a shot in the dark with this as well. I mainly bought this to help with migraine relief. I'm 26 and I've suffered from migraines since I can remember. I always wake up in the morning with them never get them randomly in the day. I've been to enough doctors as well as had enough test to be fed up. When you are told nothing is wrong with you its all in your head it really ticks you off. Especially for anyone who as suffered from migraines. I read into some articles online stating a lot of migraine suffers whom snore, wake up a lot through out the night, wake up with migraines, and or toss an turn through out the night may have obstructed breathing. I'm not getting a CPAP machine it just aint happening for me. Willing to try basically anything in my range of affordability I figured id add these into my nightly ritual for better sleep/migraine relief what the heck. I cant say this product alone fixed my issue but I can safely say it has helped. I stacked this with migravent (2x a day 1 morning, 1 before bed), Breathe right nasal strips, and a headache ease balm I rubbed on my temples, forehead, and back of neck before bed. Been over a few weeks close to a month and (knock on wood) I haven't had any extreme migraines since that have caused me to not be able to leave my bed or miss work etc. I have had headaches come on mid day but I believe those were stress related. Ive only had to use Excedrin once in the past month. Where I was getting 3-4 migraines a week. That's 1 a week for a month on average...... I figured id share my story because I know there has to be others like myself whom suffer from migraines. Is this a cure for me or anyone else probably not does it help. Yeah it does.

My ENT recommended this to me because I can rarely breathe due to my nostril passages being closed/slim. Those nose/tape strips dont work, and many times, I would have to use my thumb and index finger to widen my nostril openings. However, with these Mute devices, they now do that job. Since then, I now get about a 90-95% clear airway and breathing is easy now. It does work. There is a tiny amount of discomfort, but you get use to it. Things to keep in mind: 1. The size you order makes a big difference. I took a chance at medium and it was perfect. I did not even have to adjust the size. Just shoved it in my nose, and moved/shifted it around to get a good fit. I am not even sure if I shove it too far deep inside my nose. 2. Your nostrils will puff out a little when you insert these. 3. No need to worry about them falling out or even swallowing them was sleeping. They stay tight inside your nose. 4. This product does not permanently fix your breathing problem. It's just a temp fix to widen your nostril openings. If you have sinus issues such as internal inflamation..etc, this dialator really won't help. That's a medical condition that you need to address with a doctor. I only use this dialtor to widen my nostrils to breathe easier - mainly at night. Overall, a decent products that provides comfort to breathing better. 11/29/23: Update: This product still works great. I am still using the same piece since day 1. The other two are still in the package. You can keep using the same one, whereas they don't really wear out. Just make sure to rinse them with water after each use. Sometime next year, I will throw out the current one I am using, and use a new one from the existing pak. No issues at all with this product.

does help with breathing, but it’s the most uncomfortable nasal dilator I’ve tried. It’s too rigid and keeps the nostrils overly stretched. I even bumped my nose once while wearing it, and it hurt. I prefer silicone dilators or adhesive nasal strips—they’re much more comfortable and safer. Also, be aware that this item is not eligible for returns.

I have tried all of them. Most of the internal nasal dilators collapse under the weight of my nasal walls, the material is so flimsy. Some pop out in the middle of the night or even shortly after insertion. I have very small nasal passages and suffer environmental allergies. I am extremely allergic to dust but am a lazy housekeeper, too lazy to vacuum all the time. I always had to sleep on 2 or 3 pillows which I swear over the years gave me arthritis in the neck. I have been dissapointed in most of the dilators primarily because the manufacturers are so afraid to make them out of a firm material. In my opinion I would rather breathe than worry about a little discomfort. But thats just me. I loved a discontinued product called the "nosewide" It was 2 round LARGE tubes to insert in each nostril joined together at the bottom. It was made of a very firm and thin material, I guess like plastic but it was so thin it hardly took up any space in the nostrils. It did what its name said-nose wide. I ordered from Amazon some similar items that looked like nose wide but sure enough, they were made of a flimsy silicone material that collapsed under the weight of the nasal wall. My other and most coveted was "sullys nose spreader" which was made of surgical stainless steel wire and was absolutely everything a nasal dilator should be-lightweight, comfortable, and opens your nasal passages, from top to bottom as wide as you want. I loved it so much I sold them for the inventor Robert Sullivan, may he rest in peace. When he passed, his family did not want to continue his legacy. Very sad-he was way ahead of his time and he originally created it for his own use. He used to place straws up his nose to breathe. The humorist Dave Barry even wrote a review about it which was printed in the Washington Post and Chicago Tribune and suggested it as a great Christmas present. Here is his review, always a good laugh! You readers obsessed with this topic will appreciate it. [...] After my last "Sully's" broke over time, I was in the market for a replacement. There was a close second to "Sully's" I believe it was called "Sleep with EZEE " also a wire dilator that is shaped ina a circular zigzag shape. The inventer passed away and apparently they are not available anymore. So I have been using jumbo sized coated paperclips, bent backwards and shaped it like the "Sully's" I put one in each nostril. Yes, lots of air came in, but after I fell asleep they would work its way out and be on the bed when I worke up. But at least I could fall asleep with them in. Last week was placing an order and needed like $15 more to get free shipping, so decided to see what was new in the nasal dilator section. I ordered these in the "try out" pack. I believe they were in my mailbox the next day shipping was that fast! But that wasn't the most important part for me as I have been disappointed in almost all of the dilators I have tried. I had low expectations. As soon as I received the "Mute" sample pack I picked the Large size as I like my nostrils open WIDE as I feel like I am suffocating when I sleep. I am happy to say that it worked extremely well with minimal to no discomfort. Easy insertion and the last 4 nights I have been sleeping with it it never fell out. Now I can sleep with one pillow, instead of 2. With a little adjusting my nostrils stay wide open. The material is firm enough not o collapse under the weight of the nasal walls yet comfortable.And I just found out that the size is adjustable. With the little plastic pin built in -and it is miniscule, I can -and did make it a little wider . I am extremely happy with this product. I have just placed an order for the Rhinomed Turbine, another dilator this same manufacturer makes marketed for athletes.I want to see the difference between the 2. I believe I read that the Turbine is a little firmer than the Mute. To me that means it may last longer than the "Mute" therefore be less expensive over time. Will let you all know my findings.

Bought this 3/15/24. The medium definitely fit best. I was able to snip the circles of the large one so I could use it too. Slightly less effective, but still effective and worthwhile. I thought about snipping the small one's in half to use, but I worry about breathing them in. Still thinking about using them some other way. I ordered the Medium pack on 5/9/24 and have lost/misplaced the previous ones and 2 of these as well and so here I am again ordering my 3rd 3-pack today. MUTE is the best so far of the 4 different types of nasal dilators I have tried and for which I gave it 5 stars relative to the others, especially considering they are not custom-made for my nose. Just solely based on their effectiveness for me, I would probably give them a 4.4. I tried both barrel types ("8 Pack Nose Vents Anti Snoring Devices") Both worked pretty decent, but the clear ones irritate my nose more. I can only wear them 2-3 nights in a row. Can't beat the price of $8 though even considering only 2 sizes of each fit my nose. But being thrifty, in this case I did cut the small pair in half which is necessary to go further back in my nose so they work. Being expanded barrels/cylinders, they won’t get sucked in. Again, not as effective, but definitely worthwhile when you lose them all the time. This package included: -4 various size white, solid, soft silicone ones and -4 various size clear medium silicone ones. I also tried the Air Max mediums (2 pack). They seemed to be just as effective as the Mute's, but I could only wear them 1 night at a time before they became very uncomfortable for me. Lost one of the 2 pairs these too so far. I have no idea how I can lose so many of these. There is the bed, the nightstand and the sink where I wash them, but never leave them. Do they stick to the sheets and then get lost in the washer? I don't know. Anybody else lose so many of these?

La texture est souple et le bienfait immédiat pour respirer plus largement. La gêne ressentie au début s'estompe rapidement. Malheureusement, je ne le garde pas toujours toute la nuit, mais je ne sais pas s'il tombe tout seul ou si c'est moi qui l'enlève pendant la nuit dans mon sommeil. Semplicemente spettacolare. Io lo uso per una migliore respirazione notturna a causa del setto nasale stretto. Ne ho provati svariati e questo funziona veramente bene. Io sono anni che ne uso quindi l'ho travato comodo fin da subito, altri ci si dovranno abituare, ma è normale. Non si muove minimamente durante la notte, nemmeno sbadigliando. Muy buen producto. Yo no ronco (o eso creo) pero durante la noche me cuesta trabajo respirar por algún tipo de alergia, lo cual me hace despertarme de noche y no descansar al 100%. Con este producto he podido dormir muy bien sin interrupciones. Lo único es que no estoy seguro de que dure 10 noches cada uno... anoche ya se me desprendio. Aun asi, vale la pena.

I bought almost all the nasal dilation products out there, this by far is the best one and the most well made for daily use. I tried the magnets and the straps and other products that go inside the nose, but nothing did the job like this one.
