The Didache: The Teaching of the Twelve Apostles
M**E
Pretty straightforward
Not hard to understand, but difficult to practice in today’s society. Still, it’s not hard to change what our goals are.

the most powerful read of my life.
This is my favorite book. It is short sweet and to the point. It is a manual of how a Christian should live. A Christian User Manual if you will. A summary of the teachings of the Bible. Anyone who reads it and puts it into practice will change their life for the better. It is so comforting to know how the earliest Christians believed and taught each other. Read this and you won’t regret it! Its words are truth!

All believers should read
No, it’s not Scripture, buts invaluable to know our heritage as disciples of Christ. Great translation that’s easy to read and become familiar with.

A necessity for young adults and developing their Christian apologetics
Sometimes we get so detailed about what Jesus' teaching is about that sometimes we get overloaded and confused. When that happens, I like to turn to this book and read what we are to do as Christians in a short and blunt format. The actual Didache ("teaching" done by the apostles) is only a couple of pages long. The rest of the book is commentary on the Didache. I was so impressed with this book, I bought one for my daughter's disciple group at UF. The college level student really likes this format because they are pounded with other philosophical views by professors and students in classes; and this book breaks Jesus's teaching into concrete bites to help those Christian students confused or unsure with their apologetics. (In some cases, students are mandated to believe what the professor believes and not what the Bible teaches.) This is not to replace the Bible in any way shape or form. It is to be use as a tool to understand the Bible and the teaching of Jesus Christ. Well worth the purchase for teenagers and college level students. If you are youth pastor or college ministry leader I would recommend each student have this book.

Bias in translation
I believe he does not comprehend the Biblical Greek language well to be able to translate The Didache accurately. The Apostles passed on to the early Christians exactly what Jesus said in the Gospels concerning His Body and His Blood. John 6:51-56 “I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread , he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.” Luke: 19-20 This is my Body and this is my Blood which is shed for you. Matt: 26: 27-28 “Drink from it all of you. For this is My Blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Mk 14:22-26; Lk22:15-20Also, Baptism pouring water on the head was done on extreme cases of illness, as well as sprinkling water on the head, not for those that were healthy.

Simple reminder for a Catholic
It's like a summary of the 10 commands and the beatitudes. This is also the text that's explicit about abortion being a sin. Many modern Catholics try to justify this crime. It also depictes practical ways to distinguish a false prophet. Those false preachers that use the "Christian" label but only care about getting money would get mad.

The truth
This is a very crucial piece of extra-biblical doctrine from the twelve apostles! It can help one distinguish which church is actually following it’s words. ☦️

The Didache-a quick glance
Very good insight into the early teaching of the Apostles and the emerging Church during the first/second century of its early stage of development covering many areas including - Baptism ritual, the Eucharist, Catechetics (with a written Catechism), the Lord's prayer, days for fasting and much more.... I highly recommend this book for those wishing to understand more about the early Church as it will also lead one into reading about the 'Apostolic Fathers' and the 'Early Church Fathers'.Derek Turner

Had two pages of another book in it!
This is printed for Amazon and clearly there is very little quality control. There were 2 pages from another book in this book. The rest of the content was fine but be wary of books printed for Amazon. This is not the only Amazon printed book I’ve had this poor quality issue with.

Great Read
Short but informative. It is a straight to the point summation of some of some of the most important teaching and messages in the New Testament.
