The pins are part of the band. One piece. These Fitbit bands are difficult. But that's the Fitbit design for this model.

I ordered the white band in size small but received a large instead. Am I able to exchange for size small?

You should be able to. But not sure about that one.

How long is the Ace 2 band for kids?

I am sorry I do not know. I bought these for me and I wear a large.
