Took over 10 hours to copy movie files to the device. The size indicates 512, but unable to get close that filling it up. At about 80 gigs still available, when I copied movies to it, looked like they copied, but at the end of the copy (from Windows 10) the directory was EMPTY? The purpose of this was to install on a PLEX movie server, which it doesn't work. I'm guessing the speed issue of taking so long to copy to it is also an issue to play from as the PLEX spins like trying to play but comes back unable to access movie. So now this device is only a 450 gig backup device. Hoping the data will still be there after a few months? Update: tried to access movies that were on it today and all now corrupt Review: Great product. - Fast transfer rate. It is great for backup. I do not need a super fast computer, so one that is a few years old works for me. It is possible to fail, so I do keep everything backed up.

Cheap and worth every penny of it
This USB thumb drive was cheap but it did not last very long. Very quickly developed problems where no data could be written to it, regardless of which port or computer used. This is now a dead item. We were refunded for it by the seller, so nice that they made good on the warranty.

NOT 512GB
Thought this was a great deal. Initial testing indicated it worked fine. However. While I was trying to copy large video files to the device I started having trouble. It seemed I could not get past around 35 GB on the drive. A chkdsk of the drive stalled at 7%. Seven Percent of 512 is around 35. I then read that some large drive claims are false. They are much smaller drives with firmware that appears to the OS as much larger. I feel this is the case with this drive. I cannot store more than 35 gb. Reformatting does no good. It is just a 35 gb drive labeled as 512 GB.

It shows 499GB under Windows "properties"
It shows 499GB under Windows "properties".....the fastest copying a 2GB file was 4.8 MB a second. It won't break and speed records for sure. I can't help but believe it has a built in encryption chip that encrypts data on the fly like some sort of 7zip or Winzip built in. Someone earlier posted "do not reformat the drive" on it becomes useless. It will come formatted as exFat. I will use it for a while and see how well it works....

Uses exfAT format
The exfat format does not work on all applications or devices. I tried to change the format to FAT but that did not work.. I backed up data to the exfat format and it was corrupted. I then changed the format to the Microsft format and that seems to work. At least I only paid around $20 for it.

Works fine and high capacity
it worked right away and copied files without a problem. Nice capacity too.

Do not waste time or money on this
It took several hours to copy 87gb files to a folder. The next day I open copied folder. Only files name copied. I see no data (not even as hidden files). I should have learned from my earlier lessons. Go with brand names, even if its more money, It's worth it. Do not waste your time and money on this useless nice looking crap. I am returning this.
