what is the difference between the black blades & the silver blades?

The 'silver' blades will be a high carbon stainless steel probably along the lines of 440c, the 'black' blades will be a true high carbon Steel long the lines of 1050 or 1095 series. Though stainless steel has come a long way true high carbon steel will take a sharper edge and hold it longer in use. The silver color is natural to steels stainless or high carbon..... The black color is due to a surface treatment called bluing traditionally used on fire arms to protect them from sweat and natural acids of human skin.

Are these blades safe to cut on glass?

You can only cut glass with the first blade. It’s where you see the half moon cut out. That’s for cutting glass or hard plastic and acrylic. Though I would recommend getting an actual glass cutter. But if you do use this don’t use the side with the blade that’s too thin and not intended for glass. The side with the crescent moon, which gives the blade two pointS to have contact on the glass with is what you are suppose to use. Once you break off the first tip you won’t be able to use it for cutting glass. It has to be a new blade and the first tip. Also I hope you are using a tool and not just the blade, you will slice yourself if you don’t use the blade without a holder. Good luck.

Yeah, all those snap off 9mm blade holders are compatible with all 9mm blades. These NT CUTTERS are nice, and another nice Japanese brand is OLFA. They both make 9mm blades too with a 30 degree tip so they actually have a pointy tip like your traditional pocket knife.

What is the difference between the bd-1800 and bd-2000 blades?

Both BD-1800 (silver blade) and BD-2000 (black blade) are 30 degree blades that made of high quality carbon tool steel. BD-2000 (black blade) has an extra process called ‘Bluing Process’ that gives an oxide coating with blue/black appearance and protects from rusting. With even more steps taken during the finishing process, the cutting edge of BD-2000 (black blade) has even finer sharpness than BD-1800 (silver blade). BD-2000 (black blade) is recommended for professional use only due to its fine delicate edge. Hope this helps.
