Im a novice with about 10 ish tooling projects under my belt so take that into account. Like most background stamps, takes a bit of practice to get it down. I like how the 4 corners leave divots to line up your next imprint, but even with that feature I kept being a little off repeatedly...and that's ok for me since I know I'll need to use it a bit more to get the hang of it. The Pic I included was the first time I used it on a project only preceeded with 15 test strikes on a scrap piece. I use a 12oz maul and had to rock/pivot it with 2-3 strikes to get a solid imprint...but on my scrap piece that was better quality leather, only 1 strike was needed for a good imprint. I absolutely reccomend this stamp.

Love this stamp, its great quality. It makes great deep impressions and I would love to have one in a larger size as well.

The brass embossed end of this tool is really nice. Top quality engraving that will last for years and years. But the design is so delicate and precise, every tiny shift in placement results in a glaring flaw in the overall design. Professional leather workers who have used something like this for years will undoubtedly love the tool and get great results. For everyone else who does this for a hobby, I would highly recommend starting with something a little less detailed.

When using this on leather with the correct water mount, it does not stamp evenly. I tried multiple times and I got the same outcome.

If you look at the business end of a stamp and the features are not sharp, your stamping won't be either. Look at close-up pictures of cheap stamps, then look at close-ups of these. These stamps work very well and leave nice sharp straight impressions. Remember to not "over-wet" when casing your leather. I spray it incrementally with a spray bottle until its wet to the center. Then I let it set until the color of the surface returns to the color it was before you wet it. When you do your stamping have a very hard, dense surface under your leather, like a slab of granite (any rebound hurts sharpness and can make you double strike). Also, use painters tape on the opposite side of the surface you are tooling, this will prevent the leather from stretching out of shape and size
