Wing Chun Dummy with Wall Mounted Stand

I'm really happy with this Dummy. James took the time to talk to me about the color and other options and color matched it to the other wood furniture in the room it's in from a few photographs I sent.Setup takes a power-drill and enough knowledge to know how to lag something into a wall. Arms come setup so you can change them from the traditional setup to both of them level by turning them upside down in their holes. Really cleaver design.There are no setup instructions. That said the only real tricky thing I found was thinking though how high to make it.There are no holes drilled for setting the height of the dummy - the intention being that you set the height to something that's ideal for you. I set everything up except the height and then took a pair of jackstands to support it from the bottom crossbar and adjusted the height with the arms level until it felt like it was about the right height. The logic I arrived at for it was that for setting it where I did was wherever my jong sau would sit if I was working with someone my own height - the tips of the arms should sit in the middle of my wrists when both the arms are set level. From there drilling it in place and playing it for a bit I initially found playing it with both the arms level felt quite confusing to me, having never played a dummy set up like that before and only played an 'air dummy' for the past 8 years. However, when I set the hands to the traditional off center setup everything suddenly felt like an old friend I used to dance with who I haven't seen in years. It feels like the process I used set the dummy up about 1/4" high given where the low arm is sitting, but as I set it up barefoot I'm pretty sure when I'm wearing shoes the height will be absolutely perfect for me.The design of the dummy stand gives it a beautiful amount of pop and spring. I really love the feel of it, especially as it has give in both the front to back and side to side directions. Being able to change the arm height on installation and then modify it on the fly afterwards by the design of the arms is a huge feature. I'd happily recommend this dummy to anyone. Well worth the cost and the wait to have it made custom for you.
