Don't wait - get one of these
I have a 110lb GSD, he is 10 months old. He is obedient, and his training absolutely helps me control him. But he is a 110lb puppy and is still learning, having this Prong Collar is just so amazing. With basically 2 fingers on the leash, I can guide him and control him. If I see he's about to jump up on someone, or head off in another direction than where I am leading him - a firm pull and a voice correction and he comes right to my side. I was hesitant to use one of these because I thought it may be cruel, or painful or just uncomfortable for him - none of these are true. He is happy and energetic and sits right in front of me every time to put it on. You won't find more of a dog lover than me, so if you are looking for a safe, ethical collar to help control and protect your loved animal - I highly recommend a prong collar. A couple points just as an FYI. I chose the Herm Sprenger brand after some research - it is very well made and an excellent product. I gave it 4 stars for easy to remove and easy to use only because it is a very sturdy steel product and to press the prongs together to attach it or remove it takes some effort. hope this helps !

UNBELIVABLE!!
Our 120 pound Labrador Retriever Barney would pull like a freight train and loved to chase cars. The first time walking with this was amazing, by the third day, he sits and watches as a car goes past! No more pulling, I give him 5 feet of a retractable leash and it's loose 99% of the time. If I even pick it up to move it, he's comes right over and sits, waiting to wear it again. The quality of materials is next to none, It's beautiful! I wish I knew about this years ago! Thank you! B.T.W. I was curious what it felt like on him, wrapped it around my upper leg and pulled hard, maybe what two pounds pressure per prong? HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! Barney Loves It!!

Stops the pulling!!
As a puppy he was on a farm, never leash trained. When we moved trying to walk him at almost 2 on a leash was a NIGHTMARE. This was a last ditch effort before leashed walks were out of the question. Bo is 90lbs and used the large size. I saw an instant change in pulling. Easily goes on and used with our regular leash. Only 2 times did I have to pull back to remind him. He still walks with intention, but I have his attention. Before if I said his name he completely ignored me. Now if I say his name and pull quickly but gently he turns around. He will easily sit and stop if needed. I did notice it tangled with his regular collar and tags. I donโt review products but this has vastly improved the lives of owners and pet! 100% worth the money. Complete game changer.

Excellent prong collar BUT bleeds color
We bought this prong collar after a strong reccomendation from our dog trainer that Sprenger makes the best ones. The construction quality is excellent. We paired it with a quick release clasp from the same manufacturer which makes putting on/off the collar much easier on our golden retriever. We have seen a marked positive change in behavior when we use the collar (we started when he was 8 months old and his pulling/tugging/jumping has reduced considerably. Our one major gripe is that the black paint on the prongs comes off and creates a weird band around the neck of our dog. We were able to get it off when we give him a bath but for a pro g collar that costs $80 and is made in Germany, this is a let down. I also bought a silver one which does not suffer from this issue. I still strongly recommend the brand and collars but would suggest you go for the steel color and not black ones.

Game Changer
We adopted a bully breed who was, to say the least, not treated well prior to joining our family. I used to walk him with two leashes, one on collar and one on harness b/c he would intensely pull most of the time. Our adoption contact and vet have recommended behavior specialists and trainers, which are terrific options if you have plenty of disposable income :). An understatement would be that he did not fare well out in public (we're guessing due to his past trauma). Over the years we've been walking him less and playing fetch in the backyard instead mostly due to his reaction to passing vehicles. He would pull and bark and jump up and bite at the leash. Anyway, I could write a novella on the difference, but I'll sum it up with this statement: If your dog has issues walking to the point where you find yourself not wanting to walk him or her as much as you used to... try one of these. The video is of his very first walk with the Sprenger and shows his greatly diminished reaction to a passing car (used to be a freak show). I formerly believed that leash slack was only a myth!
