Star Wax Premium Pomade, Crystal, 5 fl oz / 150 ml

Awful. While I'm familiar and even fond of the Star Wax brand, this product is by far their worst. First, from my experience, the color of the pomade is uncomfortably artificial. The blue is noticeably overdyed and had the effect of tinting my light brown/blonde hair a lighter shade of blue. (how old am I, again?) Next, it had a pretty bad texture, it felt very inconsistent and overly gooey while spreading through my hands. It was very unlike other pomades I've experienced. Lastly, the product is marketed as the stronger version of their two-pomade lineup. Although my hair is only around 2" long and wavy, this pomade could not shape my hair. It was nearly impossible styling a basic pomp, and don't even bother if your hair is the slightest damp, this product has very little control. That being said, I do have and enjoy using the Star Wax branded Clay, and I'll stick to that for durable matte stylings. But if I want a pleasantly strong, natural-feeling pomade, I'd look elsewhere. (and I'd regret suggesting the slightly-too-pricey Uppercut Delux pomade)

I have become addicted to pomade. At this point, I have accumulated 95 different products, some water based, some petrol based, some bee's wax, etc. etc. Gel types, paste, old fashioned "grease"... just a wacky obsession. I admit this publicly just to clarify that Star Wax Crystal is my FAVORITE. It is a superior product that is easy to use, holds strongly, stays put through the day OR is easily combable, makes my hair and scalp feel excellent and there is absolutely NO itching which, for me, is present with many styling products and the huge plus to all of this is that Star Wax rinses clean so easily with just water. Add some shampoo and you are back to base line with hair in the same condition that you started with. You have created a fantastic, superlative product and I commend you and thank you immensely! Feel free to share this with anyone and everyone. All anyone really needs to do is to try the product once and they will be hooked. Thank you!

Other reviews got my hopes up. I might have given it 4 stars if I didn't have inflated expectations. No, I would not a wear a cologne with this scent as another reviewer suggested, but the smell is not unpleasant. The blue color is odd, but not highly visible when applied. My biggest issues are that: 1. not easily applied/cleaned from hands due to thickness & consistency of pomade. 2. not highly reworkable--the flip side of this is that it does readily wash out. If you like to put your hands in your hair, or retouch in the bathroom, you'll find that you lose hold & shine if you disturb your initial application much. 3. On a positive note, you're not getting ripped off in terms of quantity of product with Star Wax like you are with other high-end brands. 5 fl. oz. goes a long way. Easily a 2-month supply, even if you have a lot of hair like myself. 4. Another positive is that it washes out easily. 5. It doesn't seem to dry out my hair, which is a problem with other products. 6. It does darken the color of my hair. 7. I'd prefer to have a natural look (i.e., it's not obvious I have any hair product in). This wax doesn't pull off the natural look very well. It's more for a wet or slicked back style.

Great Product, it stays in hair well even when it's raining outside it stays pretty solid. You get a lot of gel for the price Highly Recommend.

I bought this product because I have thick hair. I bought a high hold shine product so I could leave it up and not worry about loosing hold through the day. But it looses its hold within a hour. The shine though on the other hand has great shine but notice it leaves a blue tint in the hair.. I don't think it's worth 25$ and probably won't buy it again..

Does not hold. Does not allow for recombing throughout the day. Smells okay but not worth the try in my opinion... Try UpperCut Pomade best best best.

Before I grew out my hair to it's current length, I would only rinse out my hair. I found that it kept my hair healthier, which looked and felt nicer not having frizzy damaged hair every time I shampooed it. My biggest issue became my pomades, I couldn't find any that worked well and looked great, that also washed out easily. This pomade works great, the blue tinge (if a proper amount is used) will make black hair jet black, and actually holds very well. And I've never had any trouble simply rinsing out my hair. It seems mostly matte to me also, but used with Mink hair spray, I find that it holds very well throughout the day (wind while driving, or even brushing my head while putting on my laptop bag won't budge it).
