Update: I was contacted by their customer service after my initial review. When they saw the problem I had with the cable clip they offered to reimburse me so I could purchase a new set of cables for the tailgate. They were very understanding and kept in contact until the situation was taken care of. Great customer service! I recommend this product but be careful when installing the clip. Installed on my Ram 1500. Installation was easy I was done in about 15 minutes. It works great now my tailgate isn't being slammed when it's opening. The instructions were easy to follow but I did come across a problem. The clip was a bit too tight/ small for the cable and it caused the plastic protective cover around the cable to get scraped off while installing, I have uploaded pictures to show what I mean. I informed the seller and they recommended to remove the clip but that would leave the cable open to the elements and might rust. I decided to keep it on so as not to cause further damage to the cable. Other than that I am content with my purchase as it does what's stated, it assists when opening the tailgate.

It keeps unscrewing itself after use, i applied thread lock and seams to be better than what was included but still unscrews it self

I want to state that this unit is installed and works really well. The directions are not that good. I had to use a few you tube videos for similar products that show details. One video appeared to be the identical product, and their reason for making the video was because of the inadequate instructions. Please know, so far the unit is working as it should. Just didn’t show, or describe a lot of details. I may add my own instructions eventually, but for now, just find the videos that help with instructions. Right now, the tail gate does come down really slow, slower than I expected - but way better than slamming down!!

The shock itself come undone the first 3 times I used it. The 4th time the head of the shock was missing. Install went fine, followed all directions. I reached out to the company privately a month ago now to no response. Poor product poor customer service.

This shock is amazing. Best thing ever. I can’t believe I didn’t do this years ago. No more heavy tailgate. Not knowing what I was doing and trying to follow the directions and also a video on YouTube it took me about an hour. Now that I’ve done it, it is so easy and could do it again in about 20 minutes or less. The directions say to remove the rubber bumper, but the video didn’t. I left the rubber bumper and it works great with leaving it. Great addition to my truck. I totally recommend it. I told my brother and he bought one the next day and he loves it. It’s not that often I’m pleased with what I buy from Amazon, but this time I was totally happy. Normally it’s too big or too small or doesn’t work like they said it would. But this time I’m Very pleased. Great purchase.

The Tailgate assist shock is one of the best additions to a truck especially at such price as it provides such functionality to the tailgate. It makes the opening of the tailgate so smooth which adds up towards the safety of the opening motion as well. The installation was also very easy and simple and I was able to install in within 10-15 minutes with basic tools provided in the kit.

Bought 2 because the first one broke in a matter of weeks. Second one did the same in a matter of days. Cable presses against strut and applies too much pressure. Installed exactly as instructed. Flawed design.
