Page Turner!
Very interesting and heartbreaking story. Two tragedies unfold in this well-written book: murder and the fate of innocent children. Diane Fanning is an accomplished TC writer!

Very interesting case.
It does seem as though justice was not done.. Perhaps it is not too late for the two boys to have great lives.

Couldn't put it down.
I love Diane Fanning. This book was very well researched and the pace was such that i read it in one day. It is hard to understand the killer's motivation as it doesn't seem she had an understandable motive to kill him after 5 months of marriage. She was a new young veterinarian with her own clinic. She was no dummy but when you read all the transcripts of her phone call, the complete lack of consideration for anyone but herself. Just shaking my head the whole time. I don't know you just have to read it.

Fanning did not write to her potential
The strange case of the Davidson clan, and their culpability in the murder of Michael Severance, makes for an interesting read. It's too bad, then, that seasoned true crime author Diane Fanning couldn't produce a captivating narrative of the case. I want to know more about the Davidson family, especially Wendi. What was she like in high school, college, and vet school? I get it, she was smart but weird. (Still, she participated in extracurricular activities, so she obviously wanted to have associates. ) And what's the deal with the family? Big holes missing.... Fanning includes Lloyd Davidson's bizarre sing-song rant towards his daughter - what led up to this rant? What of the Davidson family's mental health? Letters and communications from Wendi to her family are included, but what would have been better is in-depth context of the letters. Short snippets of the letters would have been much more readable. What about Wendi and Michael's marriage? How did Michael feel about marrying his one-night stand? Did he love her, or was it out of responsibility to the baby? All we know is that Michael wanted to do the "right thing" for the child, but how did he feel about the woman he took to bed one night? He isn't here to tell us, but Fanning is experienced enough to dig deep and get some answers! And the recount of the trial was especially boring. That said, there's much more to this crime than was ever reported, in this book and in the media. Get this one from the library or buy it used for fifty cents. Not worth having in your personal library.

Great book!!
Never heard about this case . The family dynamics are bizarre and remind me a lot of the Casey Anthony family. Such a senseless crime due to a severely dysfunctional family. Scary to think those two innocent children are left behind to be raised by them. I question CPS and the court system for their lack of concern when it comes to the children.

Bad binding.
When I opened the book, pages began to come loose. The binding is weak. My wife wants to read this after me but it’s going to be difficult. If they’re coming loose on the end, it will probably get worse towards the middle.

Good reading of real happenings
Diane Fanning is one of my best authors. Enjoy reading real crime stories, sorry for what happens but prefer reading real life stories.

Great read
This is a rivoting story that kept me glued to the facts to the very end. As a practicing veterinarian for decades, the veterinary facts are exacting. The story is incredible and well explained by the author. Very enjoyable. So incredible it's hard to believe it isn't fiction. Great job Diane Fanning.
