My carpets say thank you!
I didn't take this suggestion from Amazon seriously when their algorithm first suggested this item. In fact given the number of boxes I have accumulated with their deliveries I reckoned that I could have built my own! However, anything for an easy life, as my two cats, Kon (mum) and Kiki (daughter) carve up the house between them and then defend their territory. In cats one of the ways they do this is by vertical and horizontal scratching at carpets at the boundaries of the territory, and as such it is quite often limited to a small area, in my case it was the top and bottom of stairs. This is quite different to scratching carpets and sofa covers for nail-shedding/grooming.So I bought a couple of these and placed them at the bottom of stairways. They were an instant success, with the cats even sleeping on them, although being rather large hairy Main Coons, it's more a matter on dumping most of the body on the item, with legs and tail draping over the edges. A bit like an exploding cushion. Not elegant. My carpets have not been scratched since and it has definitely saved them some hassle. These scratchers are cheaper than replacement carpet. Also, because territories and boundaries have been decided and agreed, the two cats get on much better and there is peace at home at last.I then bought other carboard scratchers thinking I could save the all the carpets, but although these others get used to sleep on they don't get used for scratching (territory marking). It seems the shape of this particular model is the important thing because it has a sweeping steep surface that caters for territory-based scratching, as I should have guessed from my initial experience and from what we know about cat territory marking. This also explains why, when I put one of these scratchers on the small stairway to the bedroom neither cat came to sleep with me, as one was guarding the entrance to the stairs all night. I have since removed this one and now have both cats in the bedroom but as they get on with each other they spread out on the bed sleeping upside down as Main Coons do, and there is no room for me. Assertive training doesn't work when applied to cats. I'm browsing Amazon for a bigger bed!

Not like the picture!
Don't go by the picture, it's nowhere near as big as it looks. It's a cute floor-scratcher (which my cat uses to sleep on rather than scratch) but check the measurements definitely.

Great
The 3 cats love scratching this product.had it quite a while now,it's lasting a long time.i thought it would be demolished in a day but I have had it for weeks now and is still OK.the size of it compared to your picture is bit deceiving smaller than I thought it would be but not a problem with my adult cats

A lot smaller than expected
It wasn't very sturdy at all. Ideal for a small kitten maybe. We donated it to a cat charity for their kittens and they loved it
