Puzzle looks great, always love Ravensburger piece quality. Took about 2 months to complete. Overall a fun, challenging puzzle to build.

Ravensburger puzzles may cost slightly more then the others, but thats because they are worth it. Color is fantastic, the fit and finish of the pieces is perfect, and the end result is just stunning. My wife just finished a 4,000 piece puzzle from another manufacturer and it took about 5 months because the colors were washed out and the pieces did not fit well. She gets this puzzle and bam, in 4 weeks its done. Great, vivid colors, every piece fit like a glove, and an amazing reproduction of the Sistine Chapel. Only gripe is that yes, they do cost a little more, but its definitely worth it in making the experience that much better!

Got this for our annual holiday puzzle but I didn’t realize how large it was and had to create a cardboard table on top of our dining room table so we could work on it. I love the Sistine Chapel and the quality of the reproduction is quite good. The puzzle is very challenging. We are nine days into it and we can see some progress but I’m not sure we’ll finish it before the holiday break is over.

This is a hard puzzle, mostly because the condition of the original painting is so poor. In most paintings that are made into puzzles, you can expect that one section of the architectural elements will be all the same color unless there's shading or shadowing. Here that isn't true at all. Not only are each of the triangles and rectangles that divide the ceiling into separate friezes a separate color - ranging from ivory to grey to taupe to almost blue, while the incised decorations in each section alter unpredictably in both color and width - but those colors themselves vary hugely due to crazing, poor repair, restorations, waterstains, etc. Then, too, the colors of the puzzle pieces are not the same as the colors in the picture (to the point where the picture is actively a hindrance at times), and the picture is so much smaller than the puzzle that you can't rely on the picture to help with most of the details. In short, this one's quite frustrating, as well as big enough to take a long time to work anyway. Exactly what you want if you're fast at doing jigsaws! It would be best if the photo and the puzzle were corrected to be the same colors at least - it seems unfair of Ravensburger to make them this off from one another. It's one thing to choose not to look at the photo for help, it's another to not be able to tell what a piece is if you do look. A something that's gold in the photo may be olive green or brown or blue or even lavender, depending...and that's nothing compared to the variation in skin tones and backgrounds. You'll have to decide for yourself if it's worth it even to try locating pieces by using the photo.

This is a true "puzzler's" puzzle. It is based on a magnificent work of art and it gives you time to study the painting in detail while you analyze each section. You can study the history of the painting as you build the puzzle. Ravensburger presents us with a wonderful challenge by making several pieces exactly the same shape while only slight variation in the color is noticeable. Other reviewers commented that they often felt when building the puzzle that pieces might be missing and yet as they came to the end all the pieces were there. I was constantly amazed that I had the same feeling that pieces were missing and at one point even stopped working on the puzzle in disappointment. However, the actual puzzle was 100% complete. After I had completed the puzzle I noticed one piece that fit perfectly by shape, but was surely out of place by color detail. I spent another day looking for a similar piece with the correct colors. This added to the fun of building the puzzle and knowing that it was totally correct. Now that the puzzle is complete I will have it framed and hang it above my bed so that I will have a perspective on the painting similar to the artist's perspective. I hope Ravensburger will consider making a 9000 piece puzzle of the Sistine Chapel that includes the extra two panels of the original that are missing from either end of this one.

Gave this puzzle to my wife and it has now taken over one entire room in our house, Really big. Really hard. Really good quality. Beautiful picture quality of the chapel roof. If my wife does finish it we will frame it and keep it on our wall. (Something I used to think was ridiculous.)
