Great Wok
I have owned this long enough to give it a good test before writing. It does a very good job of cooking stir fry dishes. It gets hot enough to do the job. The interior finish is so nice to cook in and clean up is easy. Like the fact it comes apart at the base so it can be submerged in the sink. The only thing I wish it had are temperature readings on the dial

Very good
I have had the wok for about 1 week and cooked 4 times with it. It gets very hot very fast. On highest heat it is ready to cook in about 4 minutes and it is very hot, which you need with a wok. 1500 watts does that. It heats much faster and hotter than my Presto electric frying pan (which is a pan I love and use often). It stir frys anything, meat or veg, with ease. It is non stick surface so I got some non stick safe cooking utensils (by Pleafind (very inexpensive and nice)) that work very will with the wok. The heat setting has dots only but it is quite easy to use and I use the top 3 settings mostly, once you see what heat they produce it is quite easy to use. The top heat setting is really blazing hot. Overall I am quite please with this wok. It does exactly what I want it to do very well, which is stir fry meat and veggies.

High quality electric wok
Wife and I never owned any form of wok before but decided on an electric, based on other reviewers who claimed the range top variety doesn't get hot enough. The relatively low cost of the Aroma afforded an affordable chance to try wokking. We are so glad we did. The size of this wok is perfect for us. We've fed four adults from one batch of Terriaki salmon stir-fry, seconds included. When it's the two of us, we have enough to refrigerate for another meal. Our meals reheat very well in the microwave. We could've fit even more food in the wok but a couple of preheated (microwaveable, frozen) vegetable packs fit nicely with the meat. This unit heats up fully in about 5 minutes. The indicator light goes out to let you know when your selected temperature has been reached. We cook most meats at 7 or 8, but used 9 for pork because I like it darkened more. We marinate the meat before it goes in. We tend to use more peanut oil than recommended to ensure the meat cooks quickly and completely in 2 minutes. It hasn't bothered the flavor. After two minutes we add the vegetables that we pre-heated. We then drizzle more sauce (soy plus terriaki, sweet and sour, Jack Daniels barbecue, whatever we marinated with) and often sprinkle on some coriander (its lemony flavor is especially great with shrimp and with salmon pieces). The Aroma cools down in 15 minutes or so. It's very easy to wipe clean with a lightly soaped and dampened paper towel. We haven't found the need to place it in the sink for immersion cleaning. We don't use the lid because we don't steam anything, but it's made of heavy glass and has vent openings for when needed. The power cord and controller are unitized and have a squeezeable lever to attach and disconnect it from the wok. We push it in a little farther after the lever has been released because the unit isn't otherwise fully inserted. You'll readily feel this. Given the price we were astonished at the quality of the materials. Who can say how long the cooking surface coating will last -- on this Aroma or on the higher priced brands? At this price and given how much we now enjoy wokking we'll certainly replace it when the time comes with whichever brand and model looks to do the job.

Nothing special, but gets the job done
I do love stir fried foods and the convenience of just blending things together for one dish meals. I have always wanted a big gas stove and a great wok in my kitchen but have never had either. So most of the time, I have been forced to sautee on a an electric stove which makes it difficult to get the right temperatures to effectively cook good stir fries. I decided to try this wok out, despite my being averse in general to non stick surfaces. I tend to believe that non stick prevents good caramelizing of food for whatever reason. The price was right and I figured it might be a means of getting me acquainted with more recipes that I had been loathe to try. First off, I received the package promptly, two days after ordering through my prime account - everything was packaged well. The box contained everything I needed, including two big chopsticks to go with the wok, lid and plug and small racks that hang on the side of the wok, ostensibly for preparing fried foods and allowing them to drain. I got right to work, preparing a dish of onions, snow peas and beef in an Asian sauce. I turned the control to "8" because the thermostat does not give readings in degrees. That seemed to be the perfect temperature for the meat, which I placed in , allowed to brown for about 30 seconds and stirred around before removal to prepare for veggies. I then placed by non meat item is with very little oil and stir fried. They were ready in a jiffy, with 8 being the heat setting. I added everything back in, scooted it to one side, and added my liquid, which began to boil almost immediately and reduced quickly. A pinch of cornstarch and I stirred everything in. The dish was great. I was satisfied. The vegetables stayed crunchy and colorful - results I was often unable to get cooking on my stove top. In the ensuing 10-12 days I used the wok for a variety of dishes, from tempura to curries. I also used it to dry fry my tofu before marinating - that wok works very well for doing that, with the temperature set to about 9, as ten is too hot and eight is too cool for my purposes. I used it to make fried rice, with great results. If I had one complaint it would be the temperature gauge - I would like to know the temps.. . just because. Also the heat is concentrated at the bottom and about 1 or so inches up the sides. I am not sure if that is the way things are supposed to be, though, in wok cooking. The non stick surface cleans up easily - I use a damp sponge to wipe it out. Overall, I think it is a good value at the price. I use it nearly every day, so I will update if anything goes bad.

Love!
Very good quality. My tempura rack sits perfectly.. Maybe some people got one that was slightly bent? As for the complaints about not being able to put the lid on with the tempura rack. Why would you? Tempura should be crisp. The rack is just to drain. If you put the lid on it would turn that lovely crispy food that you just made into something not crisp. You do not use the tempura rack while steaming. Just two different cooking styles. The wok allows for both cooking styles. They can be served together but not cooked in the same pot at the same time together. This is a great kitchen gadget but one must understand the basics of cooking. For those with limited cooking skills I suggest a cookbook like Michael Bittman How To Cook Everything. Or even just a cookbook about stir frying Japanese or Chinese foods. Although the booklet that comes with this states that the wok is not intended for deep frying, it does come with a tempura rack and the Aroma website has a recipe specifically for this wok for fried foods. (Not stir fried. Fried. Says add two cups of oil) I am guessing that the warning is for their own liability. If one is not familar with deep frying then I would not use this to first try it. A deep pot would be better. In either case I would use a splatter gaurd. Not the lid as condensation will cause more splattering. I plan to have many fun dinners with this!! ETA~ While making dinner tonight I noticed a couple of things to comment on. My electric cord fits very snug (which is good since some complained theirs was lose) Mine heats up very very quickly! Some people were commenting about the sides of the wok to retaining the same heat as the bottom. I want to say that the sides of the wok are suppose to remain cooler. That is the nature of wok cooking and why the pan is designed like a bowl. If you ever watch a Chef cooking Asian foods in a wok then you will recall that when they are done with lets say the veggies, they move them up to the side of the wok and then add their meat and sauce. If the sides stayed as hot as the bottom then the veggies would over cook.

Works well for how I use it
I've had this wok for 5 years now, and it still performs well. The non-stick coating is still in great condition. I use it, on average, about once every two weeks, so roughly 130 times over the past 5 years. I typically cook the equivalent of two portions, and it's an excellent size for that. You might feel cramped if you cook larger amounts. There are basically two ways to use a wok, depending on what you're cooking and how: (1) heat the sides and bottom evenly, so everything cooks at the same time, or (2) heat the bottom and leave the sides cooler, so only what's at the bottom is actively cooking. This wok supports only the latter. If you're looking for a wok that evenly distributes the heat across the entire surface, this isn't the model for you. But if you do the second kind of cooking, this wok works very well. The bottom heats up quite nicely and will efficiently fry up what's in contact with it. I find it very pleasant to use. It cleans well, but it's a bit awkward. First, it's easier to clean if you remove the base. It's fairly simple to do, but it's another step in the process. It's large enough that it's clumsy to turn around as you try to clean as much as possible without getting water into the heating element. Being an electrical appliance, you should never immerse it in water or put it in the dishwasher. Aside from that, the non-stick is very effective and a bit of soapy water and a soft brush will clean well it in no time. The biggest inconvenience is storage. Unless you have very deep cupboards, you'll have to store this somewhere else. You'll also need a fair amount of space to use it. I can't deduct a star for this. It's a 14-inch wok, it will take the space it takes. Do I recommend it? I like it so much that I almost bought a second one in case mine breaks after it's discontinued (as far as I know, it's not discontinued yet). But it doesn't look like it's anywhere near the end of its life. So, yes, I absolutely recommend it, IF you're not looking for a wok that distributes the heat to the sides. If you do need heat along the sides, Breville makes a similar model (BREBEW600XL), but with heating elements in the sides for about twice the price of this one.

US PRODUCT 120C US plug
NOWHERE in the description did it mention the plug is US and it is 120V. This is not a deal killer for us because we have a step-down converter for my wife's mixer, so we should be okay. AMAZON, WHY ARE YOU SELLING US ELECTRICAL PRODUCTS IN IRELAND AND THE UK?
