If you have a Thunderbolt 1/2 port (all Macs for the past 8 years have them), then you can use Apple's TB2-3 adaptor, it works perfectly!

Q: Can you use 2 x4s on the same computer? How does it show up in console?

No, only one Twin, x4, or Apollo Solo/Arrow is supported per system.
