Very sturdy, well build and easy to install clothesline
This was so easy to install, just two screws. I already had a conventional clothesline post for it to attach to. I had missed being able to air dry sheets, blankets and clothing so this was the perfect solution. The cords are coated so they don't rust and after adjusting the tension on the lines, it was sturdy enough to hold my quilt. Clothing dries a lot faster so it saves me money on the use of propane for my dryer.

Simple and effective!
It’s different these days that someone’s wife requests a clothesline for a gift, but mine did. She loves the smell of the clothing and sheets coming off the line…and so do I! This was extremely easy to hang as the kit includes the necessary hardware for most people. I used a drill and a wrench to put this up. I was fortunate to have my house and a fence to connect them to which made it easy. When the lines get loose they are simple to tight up so things don’t drag on the ground. We roll it up when we’re mowing as we have a riding mower that sits up high. Then we simply pull it back out and tighten it up with the handle to lock it in place. We love this design and ease of use

Good value for money and works well
I purchased this retractable clothesline as a substitute for a dryer in an 1 bedroom apartment. Overall it is a good unit that is well designed for what it does. It has an aluminum case with metal clamps. There are five nylon lines that pull out then are locked in place and tightened. It includes four large screws to hang the unit in beams if they are available. When I initially received the unit I checked the walls but couldn't find suitable studs and decided to go with 70 lb wall anchors, this would turn out to be a mistake but more on that later. After hanging it I noticed that the lines were uneven and after calling the manufacturer learned that you have to adjust the lines yourself after hanging the unit to make them even. This is done by tightening the knots inside the bar which is pulled out. I thought the wall anchors would be adequate but after starting to dry heavier loads I learned that they aren't. Luckily I caught the spool case as it was pulling out of the wall and was able to remount it into one stud and only have to use one wall anchor. This did the trick and it didn't pull out again after that. Overall this is a good unit provided you locate a stud and mount at least one of the casing screws (preferably two) into the stud. The other three can be mounted into wall anchors. For the money this unit works well and gets the job done. It also saves you money on your electric bill. I definitely recommend it.

Great clothesline
This is my third Sunline. The first lasted many years. The second only four, and this one...we shall see. I live in a harsh and brutal climate where the sun destroys all sorts of things. I think the heat is what caused my last one to lose the plastic coating on the the lines. They cracked, broke off and the fibers were exposed on the lines. One line broke. I got this on sale, it fit exactly like the old one so I didn't need to do any install, just hooked both ends. Some careful adjusting of the lines was required to take up the slack. This is important for even tension, and is done on the end that hooks into the bracket, not the housing. I can get four, sometimes five loads at a time to dry for free in the sun. Nothing smells better than fresh off the line sheets and towels! I have no idea how long this will last, but it's a great clothesline for the price.

Saves money and electricity win win
First one lasted about 15 years. Tree took it out. I expect this one to last just as long. Only issue is that the lines are all wound to the same tensions and so you need to extend it to max and then try and get them all to the same tension. This is due to unequal lengths in the lines. I was particularly successful in this but it’s not like the lines are vastly different in length; off by a couple of inches. Your mileage may vary.

A terrific clothesline that's easy to set-up and takedown.
This is our 2nd 17145-1 Aluminum Retractable Clothesline. The first one lasted 25 years and was still going strong, except the plastic clotheslines were getting soiled-looking (we live in coastal Oregon and mildew is an issue in the winter). Installation is a breeze: two bolts at each end to mount the main unit and the receiver, then a simple procedure to equalize initial tension on each line, and you're done. Pull the head out of the main unit and latch it over the receiver, then turn the big knob on the main unit to tighten and lock the line tension, hang your clothes. When they're dry, take them down, release the lock button on the main unit, unhook the head from the receiver and wind the lines back into the main unit. You're done. Two minutes tops. Depending on where you install it (ours is on a covered rear deck) we suggest setting the mounting height two or three inches above the tallest family member. From the outside, the new unit appers to be identical to the old one, so we're hoping it'll go 25 years too :-). We highly recommend this product.

Is it worth money for value? YES.
It is the same retractable line dryer that I had to discard due to the lines fraying and the protective covering shredding from the weather. However, the new one is narrower than the old one. Not a problem since it just meant I needed to drill new holes. One of the lines is drooping. I think that I can untie the end in the pull rod and reknotting it. Enjoyed the old line many years and kept it strung out all the time. "Rufus" suggested rolling the line in when not in use to protect the line covering from the weather. I probably will not do that?

the best clothesline!
I bought an old house in 1999, and used the retractable clothesline that came with it every week since. Even though I have a dryer, I hang out laundry all year 'round, even in snow, if it is sunny. 'Specially sheets, cotton t shirts, towels and such. Well, the clothesline was OLD when we moved in, and I didn't expect it to last long. But after the 18 more years of pretty regular use by me, it finally failed, and it was my fault, not product weakness. I figured that "they don't make things like they used to" and I'd never find one with the quality this old thing had. So I did a search and to my pleasant surprise, they are STILL making the same product! It even fit the bolts on the side of my house that held the old one perfectly. If anything, it's been improved. I've only put about 5 months on it, but so far it is as strong and convenient as the old one was. I tend to leave it up all the time, as I use it weekly. Occasionally I release it and roll it up to the house when I'm trying to make the yard look good. The springs are strong, the wires are really strong, it holds lots of laundry, I love. it. (I have a post to hold the end in the yard; buried a couple of "dead man" anchors to hold the post solidly for when I have lots of sheets in the wind!)

AMAZING! (please read if you have slack lines)
I saw a lot of reviews saying they had to get a return or replacement for certain lines not being taught. Good news is, you can adjust this. Image 3 shows you can take the cap off one side and image 4 shows you can slide out the back. This gives you access to the line to tighten. We had to do this with the 3 centre lines and now it works perfectly! Image 1 shoes it set up between our shed and fence. This I'd great if you're looking to save space and stow something away. This is even better if you have boy dogs that pee on a washing line pole and kill the grass around it like we do. Image 2 is what it looks like all stowed away. I can't recommend this product enough, it really is exactly what we were after. I hope this review helps some people and avoids them wasting time returning items and seeking refunds.

Perfect set-up when you can't have a traditional clothesline with wheels
Our backyard is not aligned to have a traditional set up but this worked perfectly. We used the umbrella-style dryers for years but found the hanging of clothes a little awkward. This unit is perfect and makes hanging clothes enjoyable and they dry much quicker.
