Perfection!
This cherry pitter is even better than I had hoped it would be. It's comfortable in your hand (no cramping or too hard surface pain), can handle really large cherries, has a slide lock that keeps it secure and protected from getting mangled in your kitchen tool drawer, super easy to clean and the juice guard is genius!I just pitted 2 lbs. of cherries for a cobbler and was done in 10 minutes; SOOOO appreciative of the time savings and the unstained fingers!!! I would recommend that you watch as each pit is ejected; it's so efficient that you might be tempted not to bother but I did have three cherries whose pits stayed inside the cherry and that would be an unpleasant surprise to find in your pie or cobbler. Also, twice, I had a pit that was large enough to get stuck in the ejection hole and I needed to dislodge them with a wooden skewer, easily done and not a big deal - especially when you consider how many cherries are in 2 lbs. This gadget is well worth having! It seems well enough made that you'll probably never have to replace it. I'm probably going to buy a couple more and have them for shower/hostess gifts.

What a gem!
I have a small North Star cherry tree that just produces buckets and buckets of tart cherries, and although I would normally pit the cherries before freezing them, I was ill when the cherries were ripe this last season, but I was determined to beat the birds to my crop! I picked off the tree, then just froze the cherries whole. Of course, when it came time to use the cherries, defrosting them first created a mushy mess and they were nearly impossible to pit without making it look like a homicide scene. The expensive pitter I had gotten thru Pampered Chef (which cost twice as much!), the pitting rod broke right off after the first few attempts to pit the frozen medium sized cherries and it was the Friday before Christmas and I had promised cherry pie for dessert! I ordered the OXO Good Grips Cherry Pitter with expedited shipping and it arrived on Monday, Christmas Eve, as promised, and did the best job of pitting of any tool I had previously used, and trust me, I've been thru many in the search for the perfect pitter! It handled the frozen cherries with ease and with minimal waste and we were processing a cherry about every few seconds. The pits popped out the bottom and the processed cherry was easy to extract from the little cup feature with a flick of the wrist. If it worked that well on rock hard frozen cherries, I can't wait for the next crop to try this amazing tool on fresh cherries. It was less expensive, even including the cost of the expedited shipping, than the fancier cherry pitter tools and is sturdy, well made and cleans up with a swish in soapy dishwater. The lock feature makes it easy to store in the drawer with the rest of the utensils. Overall, it worked so well that it will probably be the last pitter I'll ever need to purchase.

This is a wonderful gadget!
I pitted about 5 lbs of cherries so quickly and effortlessly with this pitter that I am still a bit in awe of how well it works. I was worried that it would make the cherries misshapen, but it doesn't squish them at all. It just pushes the pit through the center and out the bottom or top (however you place them) without touching the rest of the fruit. The splatter guard works beautifully and makes the process much neater, with zero clean up. Very little effort is needed to pit the cherries, so if you have arthritis or other hand / muscle concerns, know that it's doesn't take a lot of pressure or the total closing of your hand into a fist to make it work. It's very easy to clean, and the lock to close it makes it easy to store and to get out of a drawer (it doesn't get caught on things as it would if it were stored in its open setting). One thing that I did note was that a couple of the cherries (literally two out of scores) still had the pit in, but if you are paying even a little bit of attention, you can tell that the pit didn't fall out and can easily pull it out with the center part that is still hanging off the bottom of the cherry. I haven't tried this on olives (and probably won't), so I can't speak to how well it works on those, but it definitely won't work for anything bigger than a cherry. I had to squeeze in a couple of extra large cherries, so its use is definitely limited to its stated purpose. That's fine by me as that's what I bought it for. It's so easy to use and so effective that I will be eating more cherries this year than ever before!

Great for cherries; only works well on softer varieties of olives
I am so glad I bought this little gadget! The first use was on three pounds of bing cherries. They were pitted and ready to eat in under 10 minutes. I even left the stems on. You just poke the stem through the little hole in the bottom, then press the pit through. It's easy and fun, especially if you need to relieve some stress! The splatter guard is a nice feature, but not a 100% solution. I would still recommend covering your work surface and wearing an apron to avoid stains from the fine mist of juice that escapes the guard. And you'll obviously want to do your pitting over a bowl, because all that juice has to go somewhere.Cleanup is excellent, thanks to its dishwasher-safe design. I remove the guard and stand it on a tine in the dishwasher, then put the pitter wherever I can find room on the top rack. It takes up very little space in my gadget drawer when locked in the closed position. If this item only claimed to pit cherries, I would say it does its job very well. But the description also says it does olives, and I was not pleased with the results when I used it on some castelvetranos. It mangled and crushed the olives, and it was difficult to push the pits through. I worried about breaking the pitter by pushing too hard, so I stopped. It's not flimsy, but having to apply that much force made it sound like it was straining the plastic. I think its effectiveness greatly depends on the variety and size of olive. A softer olive that also doesn't cling so tightly to its pit may have better results.

Surprisingly good and consistent
I don't pit cherries too often but I have first hand seen how tedious it is to pit cherries by hand. One day my partner needed help pitting a few kgs of cherries and so with no prior experience I set off with this cherry pitter. I will say this thing is fantastic. Despite never having used one before it was quick to use and gave very consistent results without shredding up the cherries or removing pieces of the cherry flesh along with the pit. My partner also gave me a great tip which is that always have the stem side facing down while pressing the pit extractor through the bottom of the cherry, that way the pit can exit the area where the stem used to be and you also remove minimal cherry flesh with your pit. Overall though, great tool, makes processing cherries (and I imagine other small stone fruits) easy.

Pratique et de bonne qualité
Super facile à utiliser, testé sur des olives noires. Il a un verrouillage pour le ranger et il semble solide (aucun jeu). Ce n'est pas le moins cher mais le rapport qualité prix est excellent.
