Am I just missing something? How does the game end?

The game ends if you make it to the end without the volcano blowing up.

I’m confused about the game ending. To get the baby Dino’s to the island, do I need to have the exact card (the footprint) on the very last space?

Great question! When the dinosaurs get close to the island, they can jump from the path onto the island if there are no more matching item spaces for the card you want to use. For example, if the dinosaur is on the last fish space before the island and you have a 'dino egg' card, the dinosaur can move directly onto the island.

Is this very similar to Noah’s Animal Rescue?

Therefore if you have taken the time to learn how to play Noah's Animal rescue you should be able to jump right into Baby Dinosaur Rescue without having to learn too many new rules. Is this very similar to Dinosaur Escape? The theme is the same; is the game-play different?

Game play is different because this is a more strategy based/ cooperative game. Dinosaur Rescue has a deck of cards, one token, and baby Dino tokens. So depending on the number of dinosaurs you choose will impact the level of difficulty. You draw cards and if you draw a lava you move the lava token up the volcano. There's a lot of team work and strategy. Depending on what your teammate plays and which Dino they moved impacts your choice. It's a fantastic game!
