Review: Easy, delicious, and well-balanced! A must-have pantry staple. - This curry sauce mix is my go-to for busy days when I don't want to spend too much time thinking about what to cook. It’s a great way to get a balanced meal since you can toss in plenty of vegetables and meat, serving it all as a simple one-plate meal with rice. The flavor is consistently high quality and never gets old. Since it comes in a 5-pack, I love that I always have a backup in my pantry. It’s perfect for those tiring days when you still want a nutritious and satisfying dinner with minimal effort! Review: I love Japanese curry, and this is the best price/place to purchase. - I lived in Japan back in the early 1990's and this Golden curry was a weekly meal we enjoyed. Ever since moving back to the states, I've been buying this at the local Asian grocery store, but the prices were always a bit high. Over time it became more popular in the US, and I started seeing it in the local grocery stores, but again, it was even more expensive, so we didn't make it as often as I would have liked. Now, finding it on desertcart, it's the best price I can find, and I don't have to spend gas/time driving down to the Asian store to buy it, it just shows up on my porch, usually within 48 hours or so. Can't beat that! If you haven't tried this curry, I highly recommend it. Also, my wife doesn't like spicy food at all, but she likes the flavor of the green box (medium hot) much better than the mild. it's really not spicy, but has great flavor. Everyone may have different ways of making it, but we typically cube and brown some chicken breast, then add potatoes, carrots, and onions, along with water, and boil until the carrots are soft. Then take the block of curry out of the box and chop it up a bit as this helps it disolve into the nice stew it creates. Add it to the pot with the meat and veggies, and let it simmer a bit, and then serve it with sticky rise (calrose). So good! Be sure to make more than you need so you have extra for lunch the next day at work. :-)

Easy and Delicious
Now I am about as Caucasian as it gets. I take my mayonnaise with a side of mayo. I was recently introduced to the culinary complexities of Indian cuisine, and I have quickly been enamored with it. This brand came highly recommended so I tried it out. The flavor of this curry can only be described as heavenly. My taste buds were brought to nirvana as they were caressed gingerly with every spoonful. I decided to dip some old-fashioned wonder bread into this curry, and words cannot express how scrumptious this combination is. The sweetness of the white bread alongside the richness of the curry was too much for my body to handle. This gave me such a bad case of the Hershey squirts that turned my toilet bowl into something that best be described as a Salvador Dalí masterpiece. With all this being said it was completely worth it. This food was extremely cheap, easy to make, and it made so much. I made 2 boxes, and it filled almost an entire stock pot. I highly recommend this to everyone, but be forewarned. If you body is not used to spicy food you may suffer the consequences such has I have, but man oh man is it worth it.

Tastes great, easy to make.
I frequently ate this in Japan 40 years ago. So great that I can get it on Amazon now. My family loves it. It's a regular dinner these days.

The best curry mix on the market
Although this reads medium hot, we didn’t feel the heat. But.....it really enhances the flavor. This package contains two packets. A normal size family needs just one but if your having family over, use both. This is the best curry mix you can buy. It’s authentic and full of flavor. If you’ve never used it before, let me help you put. Cut some carrots up and start cooking them in a pan. Add cut up onions, and then your meat (I use steak cut up in small pieces), and then add green beans (I use canned). Add a cup of water and cook, then add the curry mix, add a half cup of water. Mix the curry in the pan and simmer. Make rice, add a generous amount of spice curry to the water before boiling. ( You can take a piece of this curry mix and put it in the pot). Add rice, cook ten minutes. Put the curry rice on the plate and add the curry mix. Holy cow....what a meal! This curry mix is just the best out there. When I lived in a Germany, we ordered this meal at a Restaurant. This tastes just like what they served. This curry is a block like a Hershey bar, and you break it up to make it blend in your pan. The more water in your pan, the more sauce but don’t over do it as it will be too runny. I’ve never met anyone who didn’t love this product. Yes, there are a lot of mixes out there but you are not getting the authentic taste as this gives. It’s the best there is.

Reliable, rich and ridiculously easy!
If you’re looking for the quintessential Japanese "comfort in a bowl" experience, S&B Golden Curry is the undisputed heavyweight champion of the pantry. It’s the reliable friend who always shows up to the party—maybe not the most adventurous guest, but definitely the most dependable. The Flavor Profile The hallmark of this roux is its deep, savory umami. It has a thick, velvety texture that coats vegetables and protein perfectly. Unlike Indian or Thai curries that lead with bright herbs and sharp heat, this is mellow, earthy, and slightly sweet. Consistency: The "break-off" blocks make it incredibly easy to portion out for a solo dinner or a full family meal. Aroma: It fills the house with a warm, spiced scent that is instantly appetizing. Why Four Stars Instead of Five? The "Medium" label is a bit of a misnomer on the global spice scale. If you are a fan of spicy food, S&B’s "Medium" feels more like a "Mild-Plus." It has a tiny hint of warmth at the back of the throat, but it won’t make anyone reach for a glass of milk. The Verdict: To make this a 5-star meal, you usually have to do a little "flavor hacking." Adding a splash of soy sauce, a teaspoon of honey, or a hit of cayenne pepper takes it from a "great pantry staple" to a "restaurant-quality dinner." Pro-Tip for the Best Bowl Don't just boil it. Sauté your onions until they are deeply caramelized before adding the water and roux blocks. The extra effort brings out the richness of the spices and makes the "Medium" heat feel a bit more sophisticated. Summary: A fantastic, foolproof base for weeknight meals. It loses one star only because the spice level is a bit timid, but it remains a permanent resident in my kitchen cabinet.

Great Curry Flavor
Using S&B Golden Curry Mix is a great time saver.. I used to make curry from scratch but age & disabilities have really impaired me. Now I just prep the veggies (plus any protein) & par boil them for 8-10 min, drain, add recommended water to pot, boil, then slowly place broken up pieces of curry mix to the pot & dissolve. Place heat on low, add veggies to pot & simmer 30-60 min stirring every 10 min or so. Turn off/remove from heat & let cool for a few hrs.. Prep rice & re-heat curry. When done enjoy!! We normally make a big pot of curry mixing a box of S&B Medium Hot (7.8oz) along w/a box of S&B Hot (7.8oz) Curry mix along w/3cups (dry) rice. This normally gives us 3 meals.. I/we recommend S&B Curry Mixes. This recent purchase came w/additional items & was well packed. The expiration on the 5 pkgs was 17 Sep 2025, so depending on the rate of consumption, should have time to use up prior to expiration..
