I believe only the casings are made in china, but the whole assembly is done in Canada.

how long time it keeps the coffee hot? is it easy to wash?

I find that it keeps the coffee hot for a couple of hours and then warm for several more after that. It is very easy to wash. Just rinse out the mug, separate the filter parts and put them under running water. Then I air dry everything. Very happy with this purchase.

What stops the brewing/prevents the coffee/coffee from getting bitter while it remains in the mug - assuming the filter isn't water proof to prevent?

I don't know exactly why it works,but I feel like the last sip tastes just the same as the first. I definitely feel like it works. I take this mug to work every day and love it.
