It does what it says it does, it protects your lens and it blocks the glare. I am not a big fan of the tulip style lens hoods so I usually try to find lenses/ lens hoods that are the full coverage lens hood. The GOJA bayonet lens hood fits like a charm, it is not a perfectly tight fight but I prefer some give. Tip: This is a bayonet style hood so when you open it, push the two indents and observe what happens, the 3 plastic "catches" retract when you squeeze the two "buttons" on each side. Line up the hood squeeze the buttons and line it up directly over your filter (please please use a filter, no reason to hurt your glass even though this does protect it) then stop pressing and you will see the teeth "catch" the outside perimeter of your filter or lens. I highly recommend this product as the price was right and it to me is the same performance as the Canon version I have for my 52.mm set up. I am using this for the Canon EF 85mm f 1.8 that is attached to a T2i and I will most likely stick with Goja. *PS* The only annoying thing about GOJA is the fact that I received two emails on top of the note left with the product in shipping asking me to review the product, I get it I understand it, business is based off of reviews for Amazon but, it is borderline enough for me to ignore it. Maybe send it out after 90 days of ownership of the product. There is nothing worse than reviewing a product within the first day of owning something, you really cannot get an accurate depiction of the performance of that product. This is a solid product and I stand by my review but at the same time Goja lay off the review harassment!

Honestly, I had not heard of Goja before this purchase. The hood fit perfectly on my 85mm f1.8, and more importantly it is quite secure. It has no perceptible looseness or wobble. It also shows no propensity to detach while in use or when being jostled or stored. There appears to be no obvious vignetting. To attach it one must squeeze the two spring-loaded tabs on either side of the hood, slip it onto the groove in the lens barrel, and then just let go of the tabs. In some ways, I like this approach better than the twist-on variety of hood (the twist-on type always makes me feel like I am going to damage the lens barrel every time I take it off or put it on). The hood itself is hard plastic. It is a matte black finish. Nothing fancy. The lens cap is accessible while the hood is attached, but a bit awkward to remove and replace. Since the hood is attached via the spring tabs it has no small exposed slots by which light can sneak in, as do some of the bayonet tulip hoods. Attached to the lens, the hood does makes the lens too large in diameter for any of my soft-side drawstring lens cases. One side note: it came with a free microfiber cloth. I do not recommend their cloth for use on lenses or filters (I did try it on a filter and it left behind a nasty hard-to-remove residue). Over all, this is a very decent product and a good hood.

This hood saved my 85mm from breaking when it fell out of my hand. the hood shattered, but it saved my lens. I bought a replacement. sometimes its a bit tricky to click the hood onto the lens but its not a huge issue as when it clicks, its sturdy.

I bought by his for my Canon 85mm f/1.8 USM lens and was very happy with the fit. It is still untested in the field, but from shooting around the house, I'm confident it'll work as intended for. What's also great about it is that it doesn't have after market branding all over it, thus detracting from the actual function it serves, and the lens it's working with. To me, this is great as it's not an eye sore to use, and would be something I wouldn't hesitate to pull out on a commercial shoot. Being able to do this equates to saving money on assessories like this, while being able to use those savings to other important gear like lenses, camera bodies, memory cards, or stands. The plus is you can feel confident in buying a non Canon branded lens hood, and know it still works with their lenses. For that, its a great value for the function and price!

I was pleased to find a less expensive way to add a lens hood to my new lens. The item is exactly like the OEM version at a fraction of the price. The material is just as sturdy as the OEM version it connects to the lens the same way the OEM version does. I am happy to save some money and get a product that will last for just as long as the OEM version. Why pay extra money just to have a name on your equipment? This was a great item that works fine and is of good quality. I would recommend this to a friend.

This hood is different from Canon hoods that I have used. The hood is attached by depressing two clips, one opposite the other, on the hood. Once attached it feels secure. The hood rotates freely but I don't think that is an intentional design feature rather it is just a function of the clipping system. On a tulip style this ability would be excellent. Reversing the hood and attaching it to the lens for stowing is easy though you might find you need to ensure it is lined up properly on the lens. The only caution is for people with smaller hands; attaching the hood requires a bit of a span between fingers. Depending on your situations attaching the hood could be a little tricky.
