Wing Chun Kung Fu: Traditional Chinese Kung Fu for Self-Defense and Health Review: Keep it simple, always the basics - The simple basics are always the root of a martial arts. You can always rely on the basics. Everything else is just fancy stuffy and trick moves. This book is about the basics. Truly if you are serious about learning this form. This book is good for your first solid three years. If you have desertcart prime, this does a great job of breaking down the moves that you will see in the Grand Master Yip Man Wing Chun. In fact, you will see Yip Chun perform the moves that you will learn in the book. The book does go into history of the style. There is section on self defense. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't a section on walking/moving while performing the techniques, but I have patience. I understand that this book presents the basis that will take time to learn and empower my body within the techniques. If you are interested in learning about Wing Chung, this book is - at the very least - a good place to start if you aren't willing to hunt down a Wing Chun school in your area. Review: A must have for any Wing Chun practitioner - I read several Wing Chun books to better understand and master the art, this is not complex at all and is easy to follow, beautiful and clear pictures and explanations from both authors, the Grand Master Ip Chun (Ip Man’s elder son) and Michael Tse Quingong Master, the book focus on the 1st form Siu Lim Tau that actually is the exam to ascend from Orange to Yellow belt but you can also start from here if you have no previous experience in the most practical Kung fu style

GREAT for beginners and people looking for a RELIABLEsource!
Excellent book with clear instructive on the first form of Wing Chun, Siu Lim Tao. The book is a VERY simple read, I would recommend reading through it in it's entirety once and then going back and learn the moves. There are plenty of photos to reference as you move step by step throughout the entire first form. It continues with practical usage, some additional movements, and my favorite, Chi Sau or Sticking Hands. It even has small sections dedicated to Wing Chun defense for Women and Qigong (I'll let you dig on this one). With a Sifu like Ip Chun, it'd be hard pressed to go wrong with this book. However, if you're already versed in Wing Chun, I'd look elsewhere~

Not bad
The first third of this book mostly covers the history of Wing Chun. When it comes to the learning material, not much is covered. The photos are ok. The descriptions on how to perform the limited amount of moves in the book are great. I would say this book is great for a very beginner that has never had any type of martial arts training. It provides the most basic of moves with great detail.

Wing Chun Kung Fu: Traditional Chinese Kung Fu for self defense and health
Ive been a student of wing chun for over a year now and one thing ive learned is that no matter how much you think youve improved, it is always good to go back to the basics to review, to strengthen and refine your forms, and make them the very best they can be. This is a very good book on the Siu Lim Tao form of Wing Chun. written by Michael Tse, student of Grandmaster Ip Chun. One thing to note when buying these books is that its very difficult to find a "definitive" volume of anything, so its often good to have an assortment or even an entire library devoted to your art. This particular book, while no where near as long as Wayne belanoha's Wing Chun Compendium, its got aspects of the siu Lim Tao you wont find there. this book is great for beginners learning the first form and even has tips for Chi Sau and Qigong during training. the first part of the book has interesting stories of Ip Man and Ip Chun, as told to Michael from Chun himself. p.s. my advice to those who want to learn but cant find a school or partners, is to not give up and read as much literature as you can and watch as many demonstrations as u can. the time will eventually come when you can find someone else to practice with and you will be better prepared! enjoy your Gung Fu!

An Enjoyable Description of Wing Chun Kung Fu
This book introduced the beauty of Wing Chun Kung Fu to me for the first time. Skilled practitioners have explained this martial art with great clarity, including the steps of Siu Lim Tao. Chapters on women's self-defence the practice of "sticking hands" are included. The chapter on Bruce Lee I found fascinating and the presentation of the legendary origins of Wing Chun Kung Fu was delightful. The sense of importance of martial arts for health and inner peace permeates this book. Grandmaster and co-author Ip Chun is a famous authority on this martial art. This book was not only informative, it was excellent reading.

Perfect for beginner!
This is a perfect book for a beginner. It mainly contains a short summary on the history of wing Chun as transmitted mouth to mouth, and good pictures of Siu Lin Tao, which is the first Wing Chun form. The ideal is that the beginner is attending Wing Chin classes, or at least watch the IP Chun Siu Lim Tao video in YouTube to have a full idea to do it at home. Finally, there are a few differences on Siu Lim Tao when coming from different lines (this one have minor differences with the applied wing chun for instance), nevertheless, it is my opinion that differences must be treated as contributions which must unite the wing chun family. I loved the book as a wing chun beginner
