Instructions On How To Install and Use This Quick Release Seat.
So this seat comes with NO INSTRUCTIONS. Here's how to install quickly and easily. It can make the difference of loving or hating this seat. Turn the hinge anchor covers to the unlock position (left). Push the long plastic bolts (phillips head first) into bottom side of hinge. They snap in. They don't screw in. Then turn the anchor covers to the lock position, locking in the plastic bolts and giving your seat some fangs. Place seat on toilet, pushing bolts through toilet's seat mounting holes. Take the little black plastic nuts, broad end first, and screw onto long plastic bolts from the bottom. Make as hand tight to toilet as possible. Broad end first makes the nut wing easier to grip from the bottom, as it goes on either way. Note: It can be hard to screw nuts on all the way for lack of finger space. Don't be afraid to trim the wing of the nut a little with a scissors if needed. This is necessary for my Kohler toilet. Then just screw it on as far and tight as you can. Now that the seat's on, you can use the quick-release feature to tighen it down harder. Turn both hinge anchor covers to the unlock position. Now pull the entire seat off the toilet. The seat comes off and the plastic bolts stay, exposing the phillips heads. Tighten them down hard with a phillips screwdriver while holding the black nuts below. Carefully place toilet seat back over bolts until seated securely. Turn covers to lock position and make sure all is tight. And there you go! It's on and it can be pulled on and off til your hearts' content without unscrewing. Note: The caps of the hinge anchor covers do NOT pry up and open. They look like they should, but don't. Down the road, it's easy to forget you can't flip those covers up to expose the phillips head for tightening. They can break off if you try. You have to pull the whole seat off to get to the bolts for tightening. Tip: Whenever you pull seat off to clean, have a screwdriver handy and tighten down harder if necessary. Confession: I used to hate this toilet seat and vowed never to buy one again. I installed my old one (same exact Bemis seat) years ago and completely forgot it even had a quick change feature. When it started to wiggle, I'd grudgingly get on the floor and tighten those annoying black plastic nuts from the bottom as I could, but couldn't get them much tighter. It would come loose again soon. I hadn't trimmed the wing edge at all so the wing hit the toilet and would get stuck. I swore my next seat would have a stay-tight feature, or metal hardware I could clamp down hard with a ratchet. I couldn't find a seat on Amazon the right size, color, and price. So I thought I'd get the same one, and order a tightening kit. I'm not convinced the seat needs a tightening kit-- or that the one sold on Amazon fits this exact seat. If you try it, please comment below. I really think tightening from the top lets you clamp it down hard enough that it shouldn't come loose very often. And it's easy to tighten when it does. I agree with many reviewers that this seat is the best value by far. Are these 1980's prices? And it's real quality, solid wood, old school. My old one never broke, and the new one is identical in every way. My old one was purchased somewhere around 2005, so it held up well. It did recently get a large chip in the finish, but something may have been dropped on it. Otherwise the finish held up well, not that anyone here pees on the seat. The seat color in the pictures is biscuit. Even though the Kohler toilet is almond. I guessed my toilet was biscuit, but you can see the biscuit is lighter. This Bemis seat does come in almond, looks like it would match, but not sure I want to bother. Kohler also has a seat in almond or biscuit. Pictures are lined up at the bottom, as the posting process would not allow them to be posted appropriately throughout the review.

perfect,high quality,color matches
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Great brand. High quality toilet seats in perfect colors. I have an older house. The perfect toilets are fawn and a pale blue. I bought other toilet seats that were off a little with color. This brand was perfect match and heavy duty, feels sturdy. Nice attachment to toilet on this one too. Will stay and be easier to get Cleaner in hinge area. You get what you pay for. I now have switched three toilets to Bemis brand. Worth every penny and they look and feel great

Biscuit and Almond are very similar.
I’m giving it a 4 star but really because the description was misleading. According to the pictures, I should have gotten a biscuit for Kohler, but in actuality I should have gone with almond. They are very similar and only I can tell the difference and it’s in a bathroom only I use. It was super fast and easy to install. Comes off easy for cleaning the hard to reach spots. It sits with no wobble and is high quality, stable material. It looks great even if the shade is a bit lighter than I needed. It also fit very easy over my bidet.

When it BREAKS do NOT ACCEPT REPLACEMENT!
According to Heather Jankus of Bemis customer service, acceptance of the one-time replacement voids the one-year Warranty. You are better off requesting a refund. Your wooden toilet seat from an American manufacturer who "stands behind their product" just broke after three months of less-to-normal use. Oh no, but at least they offer you a one-time replacement and that should solve the problrlem because when else has a toilet seat ever just snapped? The first one must have just been a one-off defect. Nope. Cracking between the back and front of the seat within a few weeks (or months if light use--spare bathroom we rarely use) of normal use on Bemis' elongated seat is a known issue (google it, Home Depot had to issue out refunds). So, when the replacement breaks--and it will--whether or not it breaks in the year after initial purchase, the one-year warranty will be void, according to Heather, because you accepted the one-time replacement not knowing this was a known issue. I was excited to buy from an American business. Bought to replace a very old seat that had lasted decades. Purchase date May 20, 2025. I did not get around to installing until about Oct 2025, so beyond Amazon's return policy. The seat broke in January 2026. Heather sent out a new "one-time" replacement which I thought was so kind. Turns out she knew there were issues with the seat. By March the replacement seat broke yet again. Note, March is within the one-year purchase date of May 20th, but no matter, my accepting the one-time replacement voided the warranty. So much for standing behind their product. Even the replacement seat gets no warranty. Solutions? Heather told me--after she let me know my only recourse is to buy another seat--their product usually breaks due to shifting for which I can buy bumpers through Amazon. Lol. Ok. Am I glad I wasted $17 on this seat? No. Am I glad my leg got pinched between 2 halves of broken "wood"/particle board twice? No. Will I be buying another Bemis toilet seat for which I also would have to buy bumpers seperately in hopes their known shifting issue will be resolved? No.

Great seat - poor quality finish
Color matched toilet perfectly....and new design is sharper and nicer than the old one from Blevins we're replacing. That said....manufacturing is not as good. Finish has a number of white spots where the color bubbled. We're not returning it since we really need it and it's in the guest bath. If it was a primary bath....we'd return for replacement.

The quality of this seat seems great. However, the measurement of the hinges to the toilet bowl were off and there is no flexibility. I think this will be the case for most older toilet bowls. We couldn’t fit this on ours and had to return.
