Great quality product
I bought three of these as gifts for my married children (we had one in the house when they were growing up). Raclette makes meals fun, interactive, and more engaging. This raclette is built well and I love the granite cook surface. It heats up evenly, so no cold spots. Clean up is a breeze. Should last for many fun meals over the coming years.

Fun family or couples dinner
One of the best family dinner night activities. We don’t overeat, we talk, we flip food, and we share a wonderful time. We learned from another owner to cook two pieces of bacon to season the granite, then cook the food. We also learned that veggies sometimes cook slowly on the granite and so we put veggies in the cheese holders under the stone, where the cheese melts and veggies can cook faster. We added things to the cheese as it melted, such as pickled onions, roasted tomatoes, and banana peppers - Yum!

Very Nice Grill
Here is my summary of this grill: Pros: -Great grill for a party. People really like it because its a unique and fun way to eat -Broiler element quite hot and adjustable with knob -Melts cheese fairly quickly depending on the type of cheese -Cooking eggs in the little pans is awesome(try it) -Makes mini garlic toast nicely, but you may have to rotate the bread for best results halfway through -Looks nice and parts are high quality -Granite top can be used to cook some types of foods(wouldn't try raw chicken, but this excels with items like shrimp or cooked sausage) -Non-stick surface on pans is really good. You won't need the scrapers until its used a bit -Handled box can be used for storage and portability ***tape is needed on bottom or everything will spill out.*** -Granite slab has groove for juices to run into -Granite easily removes from the top just by lift it -Very versatile. Can be use to make breakfast, lunch or dinner type meals -Fairly easy to clean. The granite is the biggest challenge, but with a nylon brush or a scotch bright, you will have no problems. Cons: -Bottom part is not circular or oval in shape making it awkward for people on the ends to place and retrieve their pan -Granite top does not get hot enough to get a good sear on anything unless you really overcook the food item -Granite top surface could be larger to better accommodate 8 people -Power cord not very long and will almost always require an extension cord -Granite will stain quite a bit(nature of granite of course) Conclusion: This is a great thing to have if you want to have people over or are going to someone's house for a party. I would recommend this model overall, but I have not used the other brands, so I cannot speak about them. In the end, this model does what it says it will do and you will have a lot of fun with it.

I love this raclette grill!
The raclette grill works great! (1) The stone gets quite hot and is capable of not just warming up but also cooking some food. (2) The trays for melting the raclette are very effective--cheese does not stick and the trays are easy to clean. (3) Guests love the informal nature of the meal. Highly recommended! Perhaps the only small warning is that the grill can comfortably fit four people, and can fit six as well, but having eight people around this grill will likely not be a great experience. Despite having eight trays for melting the cheese, reaching the grill itself would be somewhat of a challenge for some members of an eight-person group.

Excellent Grill
So far we love it! We've only used it once since we purchased it but it was fabulous. The marinades we used for the meats did leave a slight stain but that is to be expected. We let ours preheat for half an hour before using so it was ready to go when we sat down to dinner. I saw some reviews that people weren't happy with it due to lack of heat but we didn't find that the case at all! It cooked shrimp at about 3 minutes per side and thinly sliced beef about 1-2minutes per side. It grills veggies well although they will be fairly crisp still unless you parboil them. We had a raclette grill before that we wore out and we learned to always presteam things like green beans and asparagus. This is a very nice grill that works well and is beautiful to boot!

This Raclette is great!
I have an old raclette that is round and all metal non stick plate. I saw this at my sister's back in my country and was dreaming to get one but it's so heavy that I decided not to buy it. I checked on Amazon and when I saw it I immediately ordered it. It came right on time, as always happens with all my orders at Amazon. So far, I have had raclette for dinner 3 times this week. My boys love it and so do I. It heats up pretty quickly and evenly. The cheese melts to the perfection in seconds while the meets and veggies cook on a perfect temperature. The cleaning is easy. Just let it cool completely. The only thing is that the marble get stained with the soy or teriyaki or whatever "colored" sauce you use, but what I do is I wash it with warm water and mild soap and then I lay it flat on the sink and pour some bleach on it and let it rest for about 15 minutes. Right after that I rinse it very well with hot water. Not a big deal. Don't think it twice, this raclette is just perfect!

Novelty cooking item; Nothing special here in terms of taste; stone colors after use.
this product is just so-so in my opinion. I got the granite stone version because i was intrigued with the ideal of cooking on stone. the pros: it heats really evenly and gets super hot, so go for the med temp settings with veggies, including root vegetables. the instructions say not to use non-stick spray because it will stick to the surface of the stone. hum. well I tried a several batches of veggies (zucchinis, onions, mushrooms, eggplant and peppers) with olive oil and the food stuck to the stone, even on med heat setting. the last time I tried a batch of veggies (zucchinis & eggplant) using nonstick spray on one half and olive oil on the other. the non-stick side did what I expected it to do - the food didn't stick! while the side I used olive oil on did suffer some sticking... again, same temperature all over - med... same items ( I did the zucchinis first, and then re-seasoned the stone and did the eggplant)... taste - I was expecting something more than I got - y'know cooking on stone I thought I'd get something indicative of stone... sounds silly right? well the taste was clean, which is excellent, but it wasn't the something more I was looking for, like you get when you fire roast the veggies in a broiler or put them on a real grill over med hot coals.. or sauté them in cast iron..it was just plain clean veggies. ok.. fine but I didn't need to pay $100 bucks for that... clean up - the stone cleaned up pretty easily EXCEPT the granite colored immediately after the first grilling. instead of the grayish hue it arrived as, it is now speckled with reddish brown stains. BUT, the stone is clean. I give it the finger test to feel for grit etc, and the surface is smooth as a baby's bottom, but it's not the lovely gray color it started as. that's disappointing. the product should state upfront the stone will color as it gets used. I would have opted for one of the other options instead of the stone.. I usu spray warm water on it after cooking and use one of the included spatulas to scrap off any food that got stuck to the surface. it also cleans up fine after letting it cool overnight. cons- clean up takes time - you have to let it col down before you can thoroughly clean it, granite colors to reddish brown after use. I would have returned it but I missed the cut off date for returns by one day!

Great way to entertain
Great thing to have for company. We loved cooking the food and making different creations. The cooking surface is great and heats up perfectly. Easy to clean and looks attractive with the stone top. Like it better than a grill as it just has a nicer look. Highly recommend.

Another Way of Cooking!
Great quality, the stone is excellent for cooking as it holds its heat the best. While saying that it is a very heavy stone and a little difficult to move about. It is very easy to clean. The structure of the cheese pans and the scrapers are sturdy! We had our first Raclette dinner last week and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great for socializing while eating!

Winter + Melted cheese = Perfection
Spent a lot of time researching different raclette + pierrade combo units after my old unit died, and I am generally happy with this Swissmar model but not so impressed with the small pans. These pans are flimsy and poorly made. On first use, some of the pans warped with the heat, which is disappointing. The thermostat is good and the unit heats up quickly. The stone takes more time to heat up of course, but this is normal for a pierrade. Some other reviews indicate that the unit is small, but it's exactly what one wants from an 8-person raclette machine and all 8 pans fit at the same time without a problem. Stainless steel looks good, the unit cleans up well, and it's a nice bonus that small cheese scrapers are included. If the small pans were made better, my rating would be higher.

It was a big hit on New Year’s Eve
I gave this as a gift to my DIL for Xmas - they used it for the first time on New Year’s Eve - they had a group of probably 10 people - they loved this product - and it worked out so well with the option of plugging it in to keep the stone hot - people cooked food all evening long. She said clean up was a breeze.

Amazing!
This is absolutely amazing! I've used this multiple times so far and I must say that I'm extremely happy with it. The only cons: -Handles on the cheese trays bend easy -Granite top stains (I put balsamic vinegar on it. My fault) -Dedinintely not big enough to be an 8 person grill. However I never have 8 people for a grill party anyway. What I do is, I prepare and cut up Beef, Pork, Shrimp, and Chicken. I marinate them in bowls for about an hour. I cut up cheddar and havarti cheese and put them in bowls as well. The melted cheese goes great with Sourdough Bread! Cut up asparagus, sweet potatoes, bell peppers, mushrooms and put them in separate bowls. Come food time, everyone sits around the grill and cooks their own things how they like it.
