Easy to Use, Safe, and Effective Battery Maintenance
I purchased this NOCO battery charger to maintain the battery in my 2000 Ford Ranger, which isn't driven very often. I ran the battery fixer mode, and now it's automatically in maintenance mode, and it's working perfectly. My truck starts right up every time. The alligator clip clamps were easy to attach to my battery terminals, and the cord's locking mechanism ensures a secure connection. The unit operates silently, with no noticeable noise. The indicator lights are intuitive, going from red to green to clearly show the charging status. The instructions provide detailed information about the indicators and modes, though I primarily use the maintenance mode. The charger itself is compact and easy to store. This NOCO charger is packed with safety features. It tapers the charge to prevent overcharging, and the cord's design prevents reverse polarity issues. The instructions also mention that it protects against problems if you accidentally connect the clamps to the wrong terminals. While not the cheapest option, NOCO has a solid reputation, and in my experience, this charger performs exactly as intended. It's a reliable and effective way to maintain a vehicle that isn't driven regularly, providing peace of mind and ensuring my truck is always ready to go.

NOCO Genius 5
Excellent charger maintainerI had the old version and it was very good - this new version is even better.I have a 3 year old AGM Group 78 vehicle battery that was unintentionally drained down to zero volts. My old 4amp Battery Tender would not recognize the battery. This new NOCO Genius 5 did recognize the battery and was able to start charging the AGM battery (even though it showed 0 bolts on a voltmeter). It took about 4 days of charging and disconnecting the NOCO from the battery before it got up to 12.2 volts.I have not load tested the AGM battery yet, however the fact that the NOCO Genius 5 was able to charge the battery is amazing.I have used theses NOCO to charge other healthy batteries up to full charge.I am very pleased with this NOCO charger and have bought a second one in case I let a friend borrow it (and it never comes back to me).

Best charger every!!!!
Best battery charger/maintainer I've ever owned!!!!! My motorcycle lithium smart battery had drained down to 1.18 volts. My original charger would now detect the battery because of such low voltage. I was told to purchase the noco genius 5 and it will bring it back to life just like new. I placed my order on Amazon around 4pm and it showed up on my porch before 9pm the same day!!!!!! Wow... I connect it to my motorcycle and it woke up the battery and full charged by 9am the next morning!!!! I will most definitely recommend this charger to everyone.

NOCO GENIUS5 compared to Schumacher SP1296
I've used Schumacher SP1296 trickle chargers for many years now, on multiple vehicles and pieces of equipment. Recently I switched all of them to the NOCO GENIUS5 and it's better in every way!On all of the Schumacher chargers I've had, (and that's been a LOT of them) the cord has eventually frayed and broken where it exits the charging unit. On the NOCO, the cord has a rubber reinforcement where it exits the unit, extending the life of the cord. I've included photos of the NOCO (black) and the Schumacher (red) for reference. The Schumacher chargers I've had were dependable and functioned well, but their cord design was a major design flaw for me. Multiple times, It forced me to replace the units before I should have needed to buy new ones. The NOCO is slightly heavier and more compact in size than the Schumacher. The control has more functions and is easy to use. The NOCO display is aesthetically more pleasing and easier to read than the Schumacher. The NOCO also has an on/off switch which is nice. I always use the eyelets to connect to the battery. The charger connection to the eyelet cord has a click type plug to lock it in place, unlike the Schumacher which just presses together. Should you want to use the battery clips, the NOCO clips are bigger and stronger than those on the Schumacher. The only negative aspect of the NOCO that I found was that, according to their user manual, "This product is designed to work in ambient temperatures between -4°F and 104°F". This has not been a problem for me, even when used outside in northern Vermont. It does get below zero here, but typically not for extended periods of time. As long as the charger is kept on the battery, and it's always fully charged, that temperature limitation hasn't been an issue for me.Overall, the NOCO GENIUS5 appears to be a higher quality and better built charger than the Schumacher SP1296. I am very satisfied with their product, and I highly recommend it.
