Has anyone used this to make fishing leaders ? Especially for gar

It's possible. But it would be overkill I think.

Would this be strong enough to hang curtains in a pop up camper?

Dear customer: Yes! It can do it! Its maximum load is 368lbs. I hope my answer can help you. Greetings from REKOBON

what type of tool is needed to cut this product to desired length?

You just need a sharp pair of snips or wire cutters that you can get at any hardware store. Just make sure they are sharp so it cuts quick and evenly, or else it will fray and you will have a hard time getting through the ferrules. Hope this helps.
