Q: Do you take the piece off the neck to clean and reuse or leave the piece on the neck?

I don’t reuse the bottles at all. I discard and purchase more. I sale wine so i honestly don’t know what they do with the bottles but I keep mines of my own

Q: do these screw on caps work for carbonated beverages like champagne or cider ?

We purchased and use with homemade brandy. We have not used with carbonation. They do seal very well and required force to open once sealed.

Q: Are the caps as good as useing corks or are they meant to be temporary?

Caps are actually better than corks in the form of safety. Companies that use corks lose roughly 5% of their wine to bacteria that ruins the wine. Corks have been used for centuries, so people think they are prestigious and the thing to do. Not so much. You can research this yourself.
