This made a big difference in my walking. I have a Humpty Dumpty body that includes a drop foot from a passed out driver in 2016. Between other life surgeries, wearing an AFO every day or not wearing daily, and downtime, my drop foot began causing more issues with walking and tripping, when my foot was exhausted. And, wearing my AFO daily caused other leg issues. Finally, I was able to search and found this. Reviews were unfavorable for velcro piece. However, I used the strap included, which was easier. DID GREAT. Be prepared for muscle adjustments, along with better walking. Have not tripped with my drop foot.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I have had foot drop for over 6 years. I have tried other AFOs to assist in stabilizing my gait, but they have either not provided enough support, didn't fit properly or were cumbersome to put on or wear. This product is easy to put on. The velcro closures are sturdy and the product has good support. I am able to use it with my regular walking shoes since it attaches by looping around shoe laces. It is light weight and the velcro is long enough to attach comfortably around my ankle. The price is very reasonable and I am ecstatic that this product is actually helping with my gait. I have worn it for several days and I feel like it allows me to walk almost as steadily as I did prior to getting foot drop! Thank you to whoever designed this product! I will be purchasing a spare for myself and I am also going to suggest this to my son who is also afflicted with foot drop.

My wife had a nerve injury from her hip replacement surgery, leaving the calf and foot numb. The hospital issued a carbon fiber Ankle Foot Orthotic (AFO) to keep her foot at a 90 degree angle. Even wearing shoes two sizes larger, the AFO barely fit the shoe and rubbed her ankle raw. Looking at Amazon, we found this wrap around AFO alternative. The cuff wraps around the ankle area, and a velcro strap loops around the shoe laces. The unit works great, as it keeps her foot at a 90 degree angle, but does allow her to push down (that nerve function wasn't damaged). This allows her to drive, with her pushing down on the gas/brake, and the AFO pulls the foot back to a 90 degree angle. This unit has allowed my wife much more mobility, and can walk with ease. I subtracted one star for the velcro assembly. It works well, but eventually wears out, sometimes coming loose while she's walking. Other than occasional slippage, the product itself is top notch, comfortable, and sturdy. NOTE: Some physicians will question this AFO. They want the carbon fiber fixed AFO, or a brace assembly (think Forrest Gump). They're unfamiliar with these types of AFOs, likely as they don't have a medical certification. We did meet with the vendor that issued the carbon fiber AFO and when they saw it, they acknowledged that functionally, it provides the same level of foot support. But your doctor may disagree. We still wear this unit, and will keep using it until the nerve damage is remedied.

UPDATE: After using this product for few more days, I would agree with some others about the Velcro situation, it is actually hazardous when the sole Velcro holding your foot suddenly gives up in a fast activity. I have since started using the spare classic belt though it is bit short. Finally, I think this is a very good support for people need support with foot, but the design shall include a dual strap mechanism, and the Velcro needs to be much stronger. ORIGINAL: I often twist my ankle due to a condition but last time around it was worse of all, I cracked my ankle bone and suffered for over 8 weeks. My orthopedic doctor suggested a surgery and use a wire; I was not excited for a permanent metal wire in my foot which who knows will prevent me from doing what, I started looking for solutions. Saw a few of these and zeroed on this TENB product for its design, the customer ratings, and its price. I play a court game that requires lot of rapid movements, and this brace is helping me so far as I resume my game. Having said that, I do feel bit numbness in the foot if I try to lock the foot in an upward position, the back muscle gets lot of strain and just after about 20-25 minutes, I start my foot fall asleep, so I have started locking it at flat or even bit low position. It is lightweight and I wouldn't feel it if I haven't locked the Velcro, which I do while driving. I also share the feedback some others have given, the Velcro could really be improved, after all once you start wearing it, you get used to it and if the Velcro suddenly comes loose, your chances of getting hurt becomes much more likely that if you weren't reliant on this in first place. Next on the durability, the plastic loop is holding for now even when I am playing for about an hour a day for last 4-5 days, I am not sure if it will hold for long enough. Will wish this is a steel loop rather than plastic.

This works so much better than the uncomfortable metal brace I used for years. It's so simple, yet it works wonders. Fits any shoe with laces. It's fairly durable too, the velcro is still holding up after several months of use. Great value for $20.

Finally! A brace that helps foot drop and is also comfortable to wear. I have tried many solutions for my foot drop; prosthetic AFOs that covered from foot to knee and mail order braces for ankle and foot. I have had extensive PT so only require a minimally supportive brace at this time. Wearing a brace for foot drop does speed up my pace and helps so much with stamina and walking greater distances. A brace with a stiff piece of plastic attached to the bottom of my foot is terribly painful to walk any distance with. This brace is soft, flexible, it wraps around your ankle and fastens with Velcro. It lifts via a Velcro strap that attaches to your shoelaces.. No part of this brace is inside your shoe or under your foot. My physical therapist noticed that I was wearing this new brace right away, and was amazed at the improvement in my gait. The purchase prices very economical, I will be buying this again.

This is a great brace. Good quality. Easy to use. And I have to admit it has boosted my confidence in my walking.

These braces work well for managing foot drop. However, the Velcro has a limited life, so the braces need to be replaced periodically.

I purchased this TENB Adjustable Drop Foot Brace to help with foot drop caused by nerve weakness, and it’s been a game changer. It’s very comfortable to wear, fits either foot, and easily adjusts with the straps for a snug but not restrictive fit. The brace provides excellent ankle support and has noticeably improved my walking gait. I can walk with much more stability and confidence now. It also relieves strain and pain in my Achilles tendon, especially after long periods of standing or walking.
