Mixology (Penguin Poets)

Amazing voice. Really powerful poems that I have read again and again.

Warning! Mixology is not for those who want simple lyrics and cliches in their poetry. He's not rappin about lost loves, the beauty of nature or a life of self-destruction. He's writing about hip hop and its influence. Dude's writing is dense and challenging. When I say dense, don't think long and and un-yielding. He puts more in a stanza than The Roots put in a song.I had to read it three times to fully appreciate where he's from... and I loved that. Mixology is a hip hop album in book format.
